  1. Totally fine. There are countless numbers of other flights you could jump on. Not to mention, you get the time zone advantage. Dont drive, just jump to another flight or airline. Costs far less than gas and parking
  2. I have stayed in this neighborhood many many times. It is one of my favorites . Marchmont street is filled with unique , diverse shops and some fun eating. Close to the west end theatres but far enough , on the backside of the university, so that it doesn't feel congested. Be warned Russell Square station does not favor mobility impaired users . It is , however on the Piccadilly line and therefore a straight shot from LHR
  3. the only issue I have ever had , and this was not with a Viking related transaction, is that international exchange and rate determination is driven by the stock market. as such the transaction has to be done while the market is open to secure the rate and to complete the transaction loop
  4. I am a nature nut so the experience of Midnight Sun, tundra flora , sea birds, whales and meeting the people are huge bonuses on my list. You find wonder where you will. Some people can see all of this and think nothing of it. Others get caught up in the magnificence ad cannot get enough. There is no single answer but if I was making only one journey, I would open myself to trying to experience as much as possible. You never know , when you pull a string , what whole new world will open to you.
  5. well if you have Port Valet, then you are free to visit Seattle and make your way to the airport for dinnertime. Choices might include a baseball game with the Mariners, a great ball park. The Museum of Flight is also very user friendly and has something for almost everyone. They even have a luggage storage place to encourage those making this journey to spend some time there. Can be reached on bus, easily with continue on to air port on bus or a quick, Lyft / Uber.
  6. @Crestwave please check with your doctor or pharmacist if you should have Stugeron. If you have a cardiac issue it might not be a wise choice
  7. was working on my trip planning today and Masters is on the calendar. I moved it to a different day as it turns out I will be staying in the Southwark area and it will be easy to hit the shop on the way from here to there. I am really looking forward to trying! Not sure I have ever had haddock. Not a popular fish here in Puget Sound Country
  8. With the very sweet, friendly European Bumblebees which are kept for pollination. The a very small, docile and completely harmless. They don't make honey
  9. adding that Viking Vela will launch next year. Designed to comply with the new eco-regulations for Norway. They are booking now for those trips. And with the information Heidi has provided the friend can use some of the on line cruise vendors, clearing house type, where you can sort and search by ship.
  10. Almost every major airport has information on how to get to and from. Bergen has a tram that goes right to the center of the city. From there everything is highly walkable.
  11. The Golden Circle tour is widely offered by many tour companies. If you are not able to book on your MVJ open time, simply book with any of the providers. I used the company that has the same name as your topic. If offered, do the Golden Circle that stops at the greenhouse. The variations of the golden circle tour last 6 - 8 hours. It is well worth the time and you see many different places and environments. As wonderful as Thingvellir and Gullfoss was, I think Geyser was my favorite. Yes the Old Norse language gave us the word Geyser and Thing (þing) I would not be too concerned with "missing the boat" The Icelandic logistic and tourism movement is a thing to be seen.
  12. Was able to catch glimpse of NL here in Seattle area early last month , but it is not thr iconic type event most of us wish to see. Low to horizon at Oh man o clock
  13. Meclizine is the non drowsy medication, sold under many trade names. Bonine and Dramamine Less Drowsy are the most common. Here in the US they are over the counter. I get mine via Amazon and it is very inexpensive. Many people swear by Ginger and green apples, other find the bands work for them. What ever you choose, try them out for a few days to make sure they agree with you. People who know they are prone to motion sickness take Meclizine at bed time starting a few day before travel. Better to not chase sickness
  14. Yellow Fever, etc, are dictated mostly by local government. The requirements can change. It is best to consult with a travel clinic. Many are attached to pharmacy. They will evaluate your itinerary, make sure requires and recommendations are discussed. They can also recommend OTC products to have and possibly give you Rx to have for bowel disorder or altitude sickness ( talking generalized not for Sea level trip)
  15. most definitely I would do post. Remember the Olympics are next year and London may get a slight uptick in visitors as they spill over from Paris. The weather will still be fine and you might get a slightly better money value (hotel costs) and decrease in the traditional summer tourist volumes. But any way you slice it, London is a busy crowded city. Check out night hours if you want to visit museums. The British museum is a different place on their night open, which I believe is still Friday. Instead of paying and waiting in line for Westminster Abbey or St Pauls, go to Evensong for a service. If you dont need to have a guided tour or see endless plaques statues and memorials, this is a way to get inside and see the space and , most wonderfully, hear music designed to be sung in such spaces. That is the magic. There is no way, however to not have crowded Underground, for instance. I too really dont enjoy crowds but London is my favorite city and when I am in control and know where and what I am doing, I can pretty much shut out crowds. Ear plugs can help with anxiety triggers.
  16. Pike and Western wine shop up at the Market on Pike and Virginia
  17. I have been in and out of the UK many times over the last 5 years and there are no stamps, it is all electronic recorded.
  18. depends on what you want, but you are going to need a Lyft/Uber to get there. There are several bodega style beer and wine places fairly close. In North San Pedro there are Trader joes Vons grocery then further north in Torrance, there is a Total Wine and More. Knowing TJs you can probably fine a nice balance of moderately priced wines there, it would probably be my choice. If you want something special Total Wine would be the go to.
  19. It sounds like you have run in to a series of help line folks who saw what sounds like an obvious data system issue and have no knowledge or agency to move the issue to someone who does know how to deal with it. More experienced reps likely do know how to hand on . I have found follow through on my two questions ( general technology health and safety on ship) to be lacking even with the obvious scripted promise of follow through
  20. You can also visit drug stores on shore for most of your OTC needs. Generic drug names are almost universal. I agree that a basic survival kit is handy. I always stock up on Rennie antacid when in the UK as their foil packs are so handy for travel.
  21. Almost all the hotels there have all the amenities you want. You can use Google maps to click in to each and see what they offer. I am a Hilton /IHG frequent stay member. I like the beds at Doubletrees
  22. I take my Rx meds of course. I understand drug labeling, naming and how to read ingredients. I have no issues with going to a drug store and shopping over the counter. Most generic medications are made by the same global companies and the Diphenhydramine 25mg tablets you buy at your local grocery store are , most likely, the same as what you will buy in a port town along the way. Just look at the information on the package. I travel with a very limited number of OTC items, all the usual ; NSAID, Nyquil, antacids, usually my precious supply of Rennie as the packaging is convenient and my OTC eye drop. I can go to the green cross or Boots etc and get what I need, if I need it.
  23. somewhere along the line I have already had the photo and fingerprints done. Took about 30 seconds, tops. I cannot remember, however, where this was done. Quite a probably nearly 10 years ago, perhaps London, possibly in Johannesburg? Look here, put your hand here, done. My brain is never quite on target after long international journeys so I dont have details sunk in my memory bank .
  24. I love a train ride, for southbound, sit on right. However the bus service I mentioned will deliver you directly to Pier 66 or 91.
  25. Read the EU site. This could be a misguided attempt to offer services or it could be data mining including bank info. Odyssey should probably be directed to the EU website and make every effort to guide people to correct information for the source that is responsible
