  1. Absolutely this ! If you are overnighting, be someplace where you can enjoy those hours. Even an evening boat ride down to Greenwich and back ( uber boat) is a lovely way to close your vacation
  2. The Mayflower is a lovely icon of Seattle downtown
  3. the little collapsible laundry basket was a great purchase and when ashore it serves as my grocery plastic recycle place as if fits neatly in the hall closet. One of those things that serves duty while at home! For those with children in their life, a great place to store those always loose toys and things
  4. You may wish to add the Bolt app to increase your ride hailing choices, particularly at busy times. Good in many England and European cities
  5. there is also a local bus stop for the public bus to downtown. Rome2Rio app can help you with bus stop locations If you are able, there is a lovely harbor side walking path the whole way as well
  6. Would an uber/ lyft have different access to drop off points where it would be more reasonable to have your parents wait while you manage the bags? Or is doing this in 2 goes reasonable. You take and rop the bags then return and puck up parents
  7. Agree with @Globaliser I am returning from Norway via A'dam to City Airport, which is a quick 15 minute ride to my hotel near Greenwich. A small airport is always more pleasant. But I do love a train ride and if the schedule works, that is a great option , too. It may be slower, but infinitely more interesting to see the sights whizz by. Plus the advantage of trains overall is they leave from and arrive in the heart of the city, saves on the logistics of that. For A'dam that means you arrive just a few blocks from the ship port
  8. I highly endorse a Golden Circle tour. The natural wonder of this evolving land. Blue Lagooon was an unexpected pleasure. I didnt consider myself "a spa person" but there is nothing like a shoulder massage from a waterfall
  9. Totally agree with Flybus. The airport, itself, features Flybus on its website. When you book you will tell them what hotel you are going to and they will have the appropriate van assignment for you. They are the experts at getting you started on a positive Iceland experience You can usually fine how to get to and from most airports on the airports web site. This is particularly true where the use or metroploitan or train systems are useful
  10. I think it will perfectly . Plenty of time and a fun place to visit
  11. How could a place with a name like this not have Babies???!? That seems seriously wrong. Personally I were in the area I would head for Dim Dum in Richmond, but that does not satisfy the original criteria.
  12. If extra fees have been added, return to the airport using the hotel shuttle and transfer to the port shuttle service, both directions in your booking. With Port of Seattle fees, and city fees, and carbon offset fees and gas taxes ever in play and flux, only the service can tell you what is current
  13. chlorine can weaken the fibers of lycra and other stretch fabrics. It is important to rinse the suits well before spinning and not simply spinning them with chlorinated water still present. Also do not wring them before spinning polyester is more likely to stretch over time than lycra / spandex
  14. take a look at their web site. You can book either one way or round trip. Make sure your SEA hotel is on their pick up route
  15. people will pay for the convenience because they are not comfortable / secure / able to do it on their own. There are tours which are not easily accessible to the average visitor, even with ability; things like Northern Lights chases. These I would book. As a solo female traveler I would also consider booking in locations where a solo woman might not be well received. I met this in Papua New Guinea. But many people do not have the confidence of knowing how to travel in foreign places ( or even domestic) or knowing what tools can help them along the way, even in the most civil and safe major city in Europe and Asia. If taking cruises and package tours are their happy place, then the prices do not seem to be an impairment to their journey The threat of the ship leaving if the independent tour does not return on time is enough to anchor many people
  16. The Ballard Locks are a super place to visit It is a convenient place for a picnic with small take away nearby ( pizza!) . In summer, on weekends there may be music. The parade of boats thru the locks are fun to watch and you might spot an opportunistic Sea Lion or Harbor Seal visiting the Buffet of Salmon. Busses also run to the locks, though not directly / convenient from the piers. An Uber / Lyft is likely to be the most efficient way, unless you are familiar and willing to use the varied mapping and routing apps ( like Rome2Rio) for wayfinding.
  17. There are several FB Viking pages sponsored by travelers rather than corporate
  18. It is probably nicer to have a light coverup rather than take the heavy robe where it might get wet and need laundry service from your steward. A tasteful cover up will be more welcome in other areas of the ship. In the spa there are lockers , robes and a suit spinner which allows you to wear regular clothes to and from
  19. 2 hour drive to Mt Rainier is stunningly optimistic. It is 107 miles from core downtown Seattle and the drive is more likely 2 1/2 inching to 3 hours depending on traffic weather etc.. Unless you are an early bird on a weekend, you are going to get snarled up in traffic volumes
  20. I am on Northern lights next winter as well. I am leaving Alta open pending the offerings by the ship line. They offered a 10 hour trip a few years ago which really appeals to me. There is a nice little museum in town featuring the indigenous rock art discovered there. That is an included trip I have two long day trips on the previous port, including a night chase. I may opt for a ship day rather than going out late in the day for chasing.
  21. Charter or Motif, both Hilton properties, tick your requirements
  22. This is one place I would absolutely use a local guide to get to all the magical venues. Between Skara Brae and the Italian Church you can experience what may be the best of the human experience
