  1. That's for sure. I got one of those move-up emails and laughed. Every minimum bid set would have exceeded the cost of just booking that class originally. For me, there was no case that made economic sense. Maybe others have had better luck.
  2. What are Virtuoso and Signature, travel agencies?
  3. Thanks! I'm on the Silhouette in a few weeks and will look for him.
  4. Though I haven't had Jean-Luc Colombo wines recently, I used to drink them often. The Les Abeilles used to be a nice little value Cote du Rhone. Columbo also makes very high quality Rhones (at least used to). Colombo was also a rather highly regarded wine consultant some years ago if I'm not mistaken. I would certainly give it a try but set your expectations appropriately. It is a $15-20 bottle. Seeing it on the menu made me smile. My wife and I use to drink this when we were young(er).
  5. I meant are there fewer passengers on the TA voyages relative to non-TA?
  6. Interesting. Never done a TA. Are they significantly less subscribed than a non-TA cruise?
  7. The differences are astonishing. X knows that on a 13-night TA voyage (with how many sea days?) people will pay a serious premium to get away from the crowds on the ship whether through an exclusive restaurant or retreat lounge and deck. They're not stupid.
  8. Thanks. Hopefully, Luminae and/or the Retreat Lounge will have something more.
  9. Good grief. There isn't a premium wine on either list. I sure hope that's not the extent of it. Will be on in Jan.
  10. SS must still be adding things. Our Sept 2025 ray voyage doesn't have any excursions listed yet for 3 port stops. However, when we booked our 2024 voyage on Moon (14 months in advance) there was at least one excursion we wanted that was already full. It has not opened up yet.
  11. Really appreciate you sharing your experiences on Nova! I am following with interest as we have upcoming voyages on both Moon and Ray but have never sailed either. Thanks!
  12. Yes, I was. I didn't realize there was a difference. Consider me educated. So the OP booked an aft SV but gets no Retreat for an additional $2K? That changes the calculus.
  13. We're booked on an SV early next year on the Silhouette. When we booked, I think it was about $500 pp more than Aqua class. For the refuge of the Retreat Deck, Lounge, flexible embarkation, and smaller dining experience in Luminae (and possible Blu) we were willing to pay it. Not sure I'd do it for $2000. It's all about what's important to you. On the bigger Ascent, you may want that space the Retreat areas provide to get away from the crowds once in awhile.
  14. As long as we're opening the discussion beyond Sauternes, there are also some beautiful Trockenbeerenausleses that pair well with foie gras and blue cheeses.
  15. I've also had nice Sauternes from Doisy-Daene, Guiraud, and Suduiraut.
  16. Just finished watching this and the best way I can think of to describe it would be cringe-worthy. It had all the earmarks of a damage control press conference trying to take control of the narrative. Who was the sycophant "interviewing" her?
  17. Hopefully Luminae will bounce back. I'm looking forward to it in a few months on the Silhouette. I thought Tuscan was an Italian restaurant. Chicken Parm is an Italian-American thing like spaghetti and meatballs. Is Tuscan Italian-American food?
  18. If you scroll to the bottom of this Cruzely article you'll see the eye-popping price list which apparently will vary according to your voyage. And they expect to dump 11,000+ guest there daily. Good luck getting one of the half-dozen $3800 floating cabanas for the day... https://www.cruzely.com/the-ultimate-guide-to-perfect-day-at-cococay-tips-prices-things-to-do-and-more/
  19. Apologies for this diversion, but I'm not familiar with big box TAs. Can someone list a few examples without breaking the forum rules - not looking for reviews or anything? What's the benefit of working with them? Better perks? Seems to me there are no differences in cruise prices among any TA.
  20. Well, that speaks less well of them, I think. And it is not an excuse for a poor practice. Anytime the 'fix' generates more confusion among the user base than what it was before, it is a failure.
  21. This is not normal behavior. It is a lazy IT solution designed in Celebrity's favor for the interim between now and when the October 4 changes take effect. As others have opined, I believe it will self-correct with an offsetting post against the added tips for people that booked Retreat prior to 10/4, but that doesn't mean you should blindly trust that it will happen. Check your statement and remove the charge before you pay your balance, if it hasn't corrected.
  22. Are these considered obstructed view cabins then? How would you know if not for this thread?
