  1. We also have a great pvp. She returns my calls within an hour. BTW - If you see a price drop you can fill out a form online to get it - don't need your pvp to do that. It is easy to get a new pvp - just call Carnival. https://www.carnival.com/core/requestforms/priceprotection.aspx
  2. We are cruising on Magic on Tuesday. Even though we are fully vaxed and boosted we will be wearing masks on the ship while indoors. We have a balcony to "escape" to, and plan on finding loungers on the starboard and port sides midship, which sometimes aren't as crowded as those by the adult pool/lido pool/serenity areas. As far as dining, we did not eat in the dining rooms on our January and Feb cruises, but masks were mandated then. We may try the dining rooms this time around - still not sure. I am sure we will be among the few wearing masks, but as covid cases are still pretty high in NYC we will do our own thing, hoping not to come down with covid during or after the cruise.
  3. I am sailing on the 28th. Whatever it is, I will probably have to wait for my January cruise to experience it!
  4. We had a Havana aft wrap on deck 8. Loved the cabin and location. No soot at all when we sailed. There was a slight overhand on our balcony, but since it wrapped around the corner we could move into sun or shade when we wanted. No noise at all from neighbors or Havana area. The people above us could see us if we stood at the railing, and we could see those on the deck below if they stood on the railing.
  5. You must actually report to your station, where they will scan your card. Cannot do muster on tv.
  6. There are 2 ways this can work: depending on when the excursion begins they might have you meet in the theater, where you will get a sticker. When they call your excursion or sticker #, you will be led to a tender as a group. OR if you have a later excursion they might have you tender over by yourself. When you get off the tender you just walk a short distance and you will see all the excursion/vendors holding up signs, or you just go hang out on the beach or wherever until your excursion meets up in that same central location. I have had it done both ways.
  7. Sent in request 5/2 for January cruise. Received email 4 am this morning - denied for 2nd time. Same Casino rate which was approved for my cruise next week. Both originally submitted same time. Will try again closer to January cruise. In accordance with the terms of the shareholder onboard credit benefit, reservations with a reduced rate promotion do not qualify for the onboard credit. While it may have been inadvertently accepted in the past, we are now adhering to the conditions of the shareholder program. We sincerely apologize for any disappointment this has caused and trust, that as a Carnival investor, you will understand our position in this matter. Thank you for your continued support. We look forward to welcoming you on board! Regards, Shermane "
  8. So sorry to hear of your disappointment. You may be able to file all the paperwork online with your trip insurance. Our flight to Florida was cancelled a few weeks ago. We were notified at 4 am for an 8 am flight. The airline (Jetblue) rebooked us for the next day, as there were no flight the day of. I filed for trip cancellation, and they covered my transportation that had to be rescheduled, meals, and would have covered hotel if we had needed one. We used Travelguard, and got a check within 5 business days. Flying nowadays is an adventure in itself.
  9. Here on Long Island, NY we haven't heard anything about covid numbers in weeks. Seems all have given up. Not a day goes by that we don't hear of a friend/relative/worker who has come down with covid. Luckily all mild cases. Have not gotten our 2nd booster yet - cardiologist says to wait until fall to see if combo flu/covid vaccine comes out, or just get 2nd booster then before weather turns cold and we all go indoors again. We are going on the CCL Magic 6/28 out of NYC, then in August to the Galapagos for our 2x delayed bucket-list trip. Interesting that we do not need any type of covid test to get into Ecuador or back to U.S. anymore, but cruise ships still need testing to get on. Hopefully this will change in near future. We still wear masks on planes, though have gotten more lax with wearing them in stores, etc.
  10. Just fyi - I also can't use any type of wireless EarPods, or even an Apple Watch! Might just be the kind of pacemaker I have (it is 7 years old right now). Either way, I am falling behind on the technology other people have - lol.
  11. As I have a pacemaker there are certain "things" I cannot have on my body or use - Disney's magic bands are one of them. Had to get a card the last 2x there. I would still use a card if CCL switches to a newer technology. And I already hate carrying my phone with me everywhere on the ship. Miss the days when I used to get on the ship and lock my phone in the safe for the 7 days I was on the ship!
  12. We are cruising on June 28th. I have 198 cruise days right now. My boarding pass says "Diamond" even though I won't be when I board.
  13. Terrible way to end your vacation. Keep on top of their insurance company - hopefully your insurance company will help you get through to them if they don't respond to you. Or a lawyers letter might help.
  14. I can tell you that for our past few cruises both the pool and waterworks have been open on the ships we sailed on.
  15. Kudos to Carnival! While my dd33 does not have autism, she has other "invisible" special needs (seizure disorder, learning disability) and is with me 24/7. I know how exhausting this can be - especially since covid closed her day program 2 years ago. Each January we take a mother/daughter CCL cruise, and by the end I am exhausted - and she is "easy" to handle! We are about to go on our Diamond cruise in 2 weeks, and at least dh will be with us to give me a bit of a break.
  16. I mailed in my info 5/2 for my January cruise -got automated email back immediately. Then nothing. Emailed it in again end of May - nothing. Emailed again 6/6 - nothing. Will now wait and email in November.
  17. No doubt they are. Once people leave the ship CCL has no responsibility to report anything. And unless people on the ship go to medical for treatment Carnival doesn't know they may have covid. At this point in time people do not want to have to quarantine in their cabin or as they leave the ship, so I am sure many do not report symptoms to CCL.
  18. My dd and I cruised in January (ship 60% full) and February (80% full). January still had mask mandate, and our February cruise hit the mark midcruise when masks were no longer mandated, but still should have been worn until the end, which few did. No covid each Tim for us - but we were masked whole cruise.. We cruise again on the 28th, and will wear masks in terminal, and in public places on ship. Not even sure we will eat in dining room. (didn't on other 2 recent cruises.). Will wear masks at shows, in casino, etc. Will use tons of hand sanitizer, use the stairs, and have a great time while following our own personal mandates.
  19. Covid rates still on uprise in NY. CDC advises masks be worn indoors again. Broadway extending mask mandate until 6/30. My brother still had cough from covid - I made him go to Dr. today. Turns out he has "covid pneumonia" which is supposedly a side effect from covid. On 2 meds. Dr. said he himself had it a few weeks ago. We are heading to Florida Sunday for a few days, then onto Atlanta for a wedding Memorial Day weekend. Have plenty of masks for airport, plane, restaurant. When will this ever end????
  20. Same. And if anyone cruising with you has pre-existing conditions Carnival's insurance does not cover this.
  21. DH - who hasn't cruised in 3 years - is getting the same casino offers as dd, who has done every CCL cruise with me - including 2 this year. The offers aren't bad, either. My offers, whoever, are much better than both of theirs due to casino play.
  22. Someone on my Magic sailing on June 28th posted this also. I am happy - would rather have the $50 obc than go to the party. When I asked where they saw it, they said it was on John Heald's page. This is what it said: The following onboard guest experiences will be *temporarily* modified slightly due to ongoing crew shortages. These changes will be implemented through June 30, 2022 sailings ONLY. If this affects sailings after June 30, an additional announcement will come. *Diamond Gathering - Will be cancelled fleet-wide through June 30 sailings. $50 OBC will be provided to each Diamond guest in lieu of the gathering. *Platinum/Diamond Party - Will be cancelled fleet-wide through June 30. Each Platinum and Diamond guest will receive a 2 drink credit/voucher to redeem onboard. While disappointing, these changes are necessary as Carnival works to rebuild staffing levels. Please be patient and understanding as Carnival works to improve service levels across the fleet.

We also did CCL cruise to Havana right before it was shut down again. I really enjoyed the "people to people" experience, and learning about the way of life there. I would definitely do it again.
  24. This may sound morbid - but 22 years ago my dad was cremated and his ashes disposed of (legally - paid to do it - have certificate with lat/longitude) miles off Jones Beach, NY. He was a high school biology teacher, and that was his wish. Now, whenever we go on a cruise one of my (now adult) kids points at the ocean and says "there goes grandpa!"
