Getting to Diamond Status quicker for multiple perks
firefly333 replied to tvo7's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Yea I think I did better than I hoped by applying the solo discount in sept rather than waiting for dec. Glad I went ahead and got it. Prices have gone up. -

I pushed to 340 last year and booked 4 grandeur. Grandeur isnt a ship I would pick again, but I calculated b2b2b2b would get me there after my last sept b2b. Idk yet if I'd say it's worth pushing for pts, but my solo rates now look so much better. I would have hit it anyway in dec. Now I wouldnt, prices were much lower then. -
Checked in on American for my flight. Had to print twice. It defaulted to print with ads 2 pages. Grayed out button to print boarding pass with no ads. I'll be finding my hotel to park at dfw north entrance in the dark. Hopefully no wrong turns. Other than packing and i still havent picked up taxes they promised to have finished by today. .. I'm ready i think.

Does Wonder of the Seas have oceanview rooms mid-ship?
firefly333 replied to xps15z's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I guess I wasnt clear. Yes they are mid ship on lower decks on almost every cruise ship. If the ship is rocking everyone will feel the motion. Less in the middle and lower. Think of a teter toter, and when it moves up and down. The ends get more motion. Higher also gets a bit more motion. -

Most ships I've sailed on have OVs lower than the balconies, deck 1 or 2 most likely. In case of storms they rarely put balconies on low decks. (Carnival cove balconys being a exception). Deck 1 or 2 OV I've had storm spray my windows. -
And when I'm on carnival for instance I miss my 5 free drinks and 2 days of wifi rcl gives me. I did cheers twice e but its wasted on me as I hardly drink. I like having the option of specialty coffee or fresh squeezed oj and maybe a drink or not. Dont use all 5 vouchers but it's nice having the option which other lines dont give me.

Pre cruise you have to call to purchase the refreshment pkg for the other person. Idk about how onboard. High to me too. Wow.

Harmony differences Oasis, Allure, Symphony

Just the 2 in my signature. Oasis flying to miami on Saturday. March 27 I'm doing radiance 10 day. I had to cancel the last time. I still havent seen the locks. Radiance is going to Columbia and Panama... on allure in sept b2b again, then harmony b2b2b. Then 14 days on carnival for the better ports. I dont recommend a car. No rental place is open on sunday in Galveston to turn it in. The stuff and beach along seawall is walkable and traffic pretty tight. Hard to park right near pleasure pier. The trolley is for sure running weekends. $1.50 if you dont want to walk. Gaidos isnt that expensive of a hotel and right in the center but it is older and a walk up, no elevator. But they make a breakfast by hand that is good. Gaidos fish restaurant is famous but very very pricey. I'd eat next door. Even a chic a fil across from pleasure pier for budget minded. Personally I'd say dont rent. Walk. Get a central hotel. This is what I mean when I say pleasure pier is the center of the action. This .. https://www.pleasurepier.com/tickets.html?no_redirect=true -

The new terminal plan transport ahead of time or book thru rcl if you are staying near the airport. Only lyft paid the port for access so uber sometimes drops off in a parking lot but is cheaper. New terminal is beautiful but parking is pricey. All the sudden there are more ships out of Galveston but not a corresponding number of extra parking. Ezcruise for my 10 day was $200 as was another private lot. I could get port parking for $200 and $220. My march 27 is another 10 day. It was cheaper to book Waterpark Inn with their cruise pkg and use their shuttle, for $150 than to park at the terminal. Many hotels offer free parking in all price ranges. Quality inn, holiday inn. Beachfront palms. Many others, but you need to pay to shuttle with uber or lyft or a private shuttle. I like any hotel on seawall, hotels are across from the beach. Grand galvez imo is the nicest. Avenue 0 bed and breakfast had a 2 night stay but will shuttle to the port. The closer you are to the pleasure pier the higher priced the hotel usually runs. It's about the centre of action. Though of course there are tours and the trolley on weekend and the aquarium rain forest. The duck mobile which goes into the water. The strand over by the terminals is historic, but mostly sells tourist shirts and crap any more. Used to be a fish market and good stuff. -

Allure doesnt have these names but has wipe out cafe which serves the mexican "fresh" menu. They need more playmakers, it's so popular. Oasis has this. -

I saw a write up of dinner in the solarium on allure and harmony. It's free but the same menu each night but worth booking one night. The writer said lovely service. I think there might have been a pasta station. Mediterranean food it says. No one posts the menu I have seen just pictures of their food. The writer said it was still good on harmony but the appetizers were already pre planted, not just go up and get or ask for what you want like on allure. He said they were still good. The 2 stations are in the WJ the buffet. Where they can do crepes or whatever there at the station, fresh. I did allure, harmony booked b2b2b. Later this year. I'll be on oasis next week and might try the solarium once for dinner. -

2 of those in person stations in buffet. Like to make stir fry. No solarium pool. Solarium dinner apps are pre planted. Allure they were not. -
New Wine Allotment - 1 Bottle per Adult

Sounds like a casino deal or something. Prices here are high too. Used to find $100 a day, then $150, it's now pushing past $150 a day. I'm solo and read these prices and never understand why people think its accurate to state per person and assume everyone is a couple. I'm with someone on another thread, prices are getting too high. -
If you are not there at 5 pm then you are either holding up a 2 top if you are late or holding up your table from ordering. I hate to be seated with people who arent there on time. If I cant be there on time I eat in the buffet.
