  1. Out of Galveston especially there are differences. Drink pkg on carnival starts day 2, does not include private islands, and is limited. I've also read didnt include last morning of debark. Rcl drink pkg starts right away, not limited, and includes coco cay and labadee. Even my 5 free drinks I can get on private islands. Carnival I get priority debark, rcl doesnt have it unless you buy the key or suite. Tender priority too on carnival. Nothing huge, but I notice. Carnival pay restaurants more reasonable $$. Carnival the free sandwich choices are good. The sandwiches on rcl in Mdr imo the bun is always soggy. I like lunch on carnival. I like the white pizza on carnival.
  2. I did a carnival ot of new Orleans and also Galveston. Never again. Stormed and couldnt drive up to speed. High winds. I had already booked Galveston and the ta did a group cruise out of new orleans. I wouldnt again except maybe yours as those ports are close together.
  3. I personally loved magic more than vista. Vista made the theater smaller and comedy club, so its harder to see comedy shows. Vista closed in the promenade so when you walk thru there you arent looking at the ocean. Magic has the nicer spa. Vista has JiJis pay restaurant which I loved and has Havana. I did specialty restaurants on vista except lobster night .. didnt care for Mdr dinners on either lately. If you want a spa cabin, magic, if you want Havana vista. Magic to me was beautiful .. vista a bit newer.
  4. You need to find a ta. Mine gives me refundable group rates. Doesnt cos more, it's a little less.
  5. Yes it defaults and sets up first night. When you board go first thing with your desired times to a restaurant or place in promenade where dining is set up. People who book individual restaurants get first dibs on times. You have to wait until you board. It's a good idea to do this right away before best times book up.
  6. Yes all the shuttles want to go to the airport. I want to grab a taxi and go to my hotel where I parked my car. ... I've only tried once and it was a disaster. And my cell phone doesnt seem to get a good connection at the new terminal. Not happy
  7. There is no taxi line in the new terminal. I certainly would have. Very disappointed it's so difficult. Old terminal yes just grab a taxi.
  8. Unfortunately this is rcl policy. I missed a port and got nothing and wrote to their vp office who said it's up to each ship to offer something or not. I got $0. Other lines like carnival always give obc for missed ports, not rcl.
  9. No actually that's not the problem. Only lyft paid the terminal for access, not uber. Uber isnt supposed to go in but they still sneak in. No one is watching the new terminal .. only lyft is supposed to be allowed to drop off. Uber driver said she was told drop off in the parking lot. Uber doesnt want to pay for terminal access. There is for sure a problem.
  10. I've read multiple complaints today about lines today to embark. Seen pictures. Not a pretty sight.
  11. I noticed the lack of honeydews last dec. Missed them. Dont like blue cheese so didnt notice. I want sliced fruit like watermelon not little pieces. They hardly ever had it by itself. I had to take a saucer with 3 kinds of fruit when I just wanted watermelon.
  12. No that's the price. Whatever the price plus 18%. Still steep enough. There is usually a drink of the day for less.
  13. Drinks onboard will be charged 18% grats. Sorry. I would do my drinking in ports where it's cheaper. ...I'm not a big drinker though. I havent seen any drinks exceed the $14 limit though wine or call brands could.
  14. I forget exactly when it closed for lunch, but didnt reopen until 6 pm for dinner ... after early dinner seating.
  15. @Ourusualbeachmaybe has suggestions but I agree very early for connecting balconys to be sold out but they run a lot kids sail free lately. Imo I dont find ships that much different it would be worth changing to a different ship. It's hard to watch for certain balconys. Did you book refundable deposits? If not there will be some cost to change.
  16. I dont remember celebrity tips being included but I did celebrity before it become inclusive. If you choose not to tip over and above auto tips that's up to you. I do believe the 18% is automatically added to specialty dining or drinks and cannot be removed.
  17. Yes but it doesnt open online for reservations until 630 pm. When I tried it, 730 was the earliest and I missed my 8 pm show. I had my ta change all my future bookings to early set time. Carnival my time at 530 opens and you just push a button and the app spits out a time. No standing in line like rcl. Rcl my time imo is terrible and needs to look at carnival for ideas.
  18. Boarding. If things are going well I'd bet you can get on a little earlier but I wouldnt push it too much. Just get internet if that's what you want. I assume you mean a week from tomorrow. Cant purchase planner items within 2 days before you leave. My time starts like 630. Just go when you board and ask for the time you want and see what they can do for you after you board. They work in some during early dining.
  19. I'm in texas so dont see other prices regularly and book solo, but I dont see prices for $50 .. which means $100 solo per day recently. If they exist maybe short cruises out of florida? Idk .. I've had to abandon my $100 a day yard stick. There are not even any carnival cruises from texas under $100 a day unless you get casino offers.
  20. Allure my first week last dec there were a lot who had been on for weeks so maybe not typical, but we had closer to 500 diamonds, 500 diamond plus and around 183 pinnacles. Over 1k.
  21. It means it's full. Did you ask for that time? Probably another time was still open. Just not that one.
  22. That's the kind at the bbq open on sea days. I liked it.
  23. The shows open about 15 minutes before for stand by. Always plenty of no shows.
  24. I'd ask @Ourusualbeach. He flew in and took rcl shuttle last nov. You can ask him on bellas cruise. He will know. He flew I to IAH.
