  1. That's why I pushed pts last year to 340. They say dont chase pts. I did b2b2b2b on grandeur at a good price so Sept I'd hit the solo discount. It helps a lot. Its lik 25% the total cruisefare. 50% off 2nd pax. It really helps.
  2. I remember that post where you didnt realize moving from 2 to 1 cabin would mean you cancelled 1 cabin. Sure wish you had a TA to advise you. If you no show the fees and taxes are automatically refunded.
  3. I'm booked for lunch. Not sure if there is a difference between the table lunch and lunch.
  4. Jubilee will be coming to Galveston after its built. I guess depends where you live which one to try. Several pay restaurants are free on mardi gras, they didnt make the Mdr large enough. Some nice new pay choices too. I love the lobster rolls in the fish place, with butter. Not mayo. Enough for a smaller meal. 2 small lobster rolls with fries I think now around $18. Emerils is new. Louisiana. Ncl prima on my list too if the price comes down. I haven't been especially loyal to royal. I got tired of knowing the Mdr menu by heart. Last year I was loyal, pushed to dp340 solo discount, but havent been in the past.
  5. I must be cheap but I wouldnt willingly walk away from a $200 deposit. If I wasnt ok with the price, I wouldn't book at all. .. but I dont book thru next cruise either. I'm doing refundable group rates. I have a few I didn't like the price of but went to sail with friends. I guess I'm too cheap to book nonrefundable and hope the price comes down. Everyone here books different for sure. My bella cruise coming up march 12 prices imo were crazy but we all had been talking. Inside cheapest balcony was over $2300 with fees but did come way down. Dec 2024 friends willing to fly in so I'm willing to pay more than I'd prefer just to cruise with them. We all cruise for different reasons. I'd pay more to cruise with friends. Have some huge deals too. Sept 2023 b2b allure irresistible price. I'll take 2. But now I'm thinking of moving to Florida all the sudden, so I'm waiting on any more booking, but not just because I dont like prices. I dread moving so much work.
  6. I saw that but was equally confused by no more great breakfast buffets in the Mdr. Could this cruiser hasnt cruised in a while.
  7. Lol have you seen cove balconys on carnival. They used to be cheap but are very popular. They are mostly deck 2 and people enjoyed the novelty of being so close to the water. They are more closed up in case of high waves so they can be closed off. What you dislike someone else might love.
  8. As a family they found a cheaper price than rcl. As a solo, rcl is cheaper. I just looked and there is nothing under $100 a day I can book on carnival. I can on rcl. Every cruiseline I see these same posts about cut backs. I haven't yet done the new menu on rcl, we had a death in my family and I no showed. Half and half some are going to change to msc, take a break and half are ok with the changes. MSC seems to now have the lowest prices overall if posts can be believed. Celebrity cut their buffet, equal unhappy threads. Someone tried princess it was a one and done. No line hasnt made cuts. They are all struggling trying to be profitable again. I hope my 14 day carnival isn't as bad as you and others say. Next jan. Prices just keep rising, now starts at $3198 plus taxes. Mostly casino rates booking my carnival journey cruise. My carnival cruise is now the most expensive cruise in my signature .. and nothing in my offers even short cruises under $100 a day. I may join those who take a break lol. .. carnival may be cheap to those who gamble, but if you dont, it's no longer the cheapest. I'm looking at moving to Florida .. OP I also agree the short 4 day cruise will have more drinking. People want to squeeze more into fewer days. OP just book it and go with the right attitude. No one ever starved on a cruise.
  9. His posts remind me of the grouch from sesame street. Hahahaha. 14 day Ta?
  10. I grabbed a lunch at Giovanni when they had their 1 day national pizza day sale 2 days ago. A bit early to eat, but they have a very nice menu including the filet, 16.99, 20.04 with tip for about all the best items. We will see onboard about bogo. Bellas cruise up next. Playing it by ear.
  11. I would try a oasis class ship before you decide about rcl overall. World of difference between explorer and oasis in shows and choices of food. I'm a big ship fan myself. I love the real musical and park cafe and things your ship wouldnt have.
  12. I wouldn't spend $300 pp but I'd spend a little extra on food. .. though tbh most of my extra $$$ goes to excursions. Its lucky there are so many ways to get a little food discounted. BOGO or they had Giovanni on sale 2 days ago.
  13. I'm on the march 27, same itinerary as yours. I missed the jan 30th. My only thoughts would be about how long your excursions are. I took the shortest one that sees some of the locks, but it's still 7 hours. I have a shorter one for Colombia. The others I've been to. The jan 30 is just back with rave reviews. 5 ports, how much time will you spend in the ports. You gotta eat somewhere though and service might be faster. The lunch menu at Giovanni looks excellent. I'm spending a lot on excursions not food this cruise. Doing it for the ports. Not a bad price for 10 days though.
  14. Agree. Also isnt there a day about mid way thru it's on sale?
  15. I had something kind of similar and my ta escalated it to resolutions and was able to get me 2 cruises in a row. One leg was cancelled and I could move it 1 week either way. This wouldnt work with a b2b and he got it fixed. Ask for resolutions. Escalate this. Make them fix it.
  16. I worked disputes for amex and frankly there is a difference between what people think is a resolution and what we do. We contact the merchant on larger charges, smaller charges we wrote off. Let's say the merchant didnt respond in a timely manner. They have so many days allowed by law. A no response means we close the dispute in your favor. The letter we send says something like the credit we issued while we looked into this matter will remain on your account. Notice the wording does not say, you won, or were right, the specific wording just says the credit will remain on your account. People call and say, but you said I won, .. I'm sure we never ever said who won. Some merchants have turned the charge over to a collection agency. .. as a for instance. I red where the cruiseline blocked that charge card. We were not lawyers and cannot give legal advice. Winning a dispute means very little.
  17. For those who havent looked. Giovanni is on a one day sale. Ends for me in 1 hour 19 minutes going out of miami. Giovanni is on sale. 16.99 for lunch plus tips. 20.04 oasis. Jamie's is not on sale. Dinner is 25% off, lunch 30% off on mine. Ends at midnight.
  18. Idk why but even your link says Jamie's. But I'm booked. Yea.
  19. Interesting. The line on allure was over a hour every time I waited .. twice for something he should have fixed the first week, not made me come back for the same thing 2nd week. Not impressed with the ones I've met so far. How hard is it to select fruit truffles every time I cruise. I keep getting random bottles of wine.
  20. Grandeur the paper in our cabin specifically said we could not use for izumi or chefs table. Some other ships did not exclude it. Vardy by ship.
  21. I'm looking. Lunch is 16.99 Anyone know the menu for lunch. I'm not a huge Italian fan, but like the dinner filet.
  22. I also had a gty and checked in. That's not why she cant check in.
  23. You are assuming I didnt ask at the desk onboard. Of course I asked and was told it was weather related, we had 6 ft waves and couldn't dock. They said they were not refunding port fees. I wouldnt have written without first asking onboard. Originally we had grand Cayman and Jamaica and cozumel. Grand Cayman and Jamaica were changed to costa maya and Belize .. twice. That's why mine dropped a lot. . And then we missed costa maya. We got back $0.00. I asked onboard and was told nothing would be refunded.
  24. Cheaper than a suite, not cheapest. Liberty has lots of connecting promenade cabins often with prices almost the same as cheapest inside.
