  1. She can’t drink beer. My daughter has celiac, she can drink wine, hard seltzer, pretty much all hard liquor. She was too young to drink on our last cruise, so maybe I’m missing something.
  2. It’s a fire sale to sell the remaining cabins, I’m guessing not all are ideal.
  3. Anytime dining is what hot us to cruise in the first place. I really do enjoy a beverage package, I’m usually a wine drinker, sometimes I’ll order a fun cocktail when out, but many times they’re too sweet and I regret it, especially after paying $14. With the UBP I don’t care if I leave it.
  4. What? The gratuities for the beverage package are about $20 a day, most cocktails and wine cost more than $10 each, so unless you only drink one or two drinks a day it’s worth it. The gratuities on the dining package are a tiny fraction of the actual cost of the meals. Please let us know what airline charges passengers to use the bathroom!
  5. I believe you get your flight information around 30 days before the cruise, after final payment.
  6. I think Royal will be our next line to try, I’ve checked out the board and the only issue seems to be that their anytime dining isn’t as smooth as NCL because they still do traditional.
  7. Ok so if I wanted to sail out of the nyc area next month, what are my options for a ship where I could show up in my shorts and get seated for dinner whenever (according to celebrity anytime dining is limited and based on how early you book), and have some nice waterslides?
  8. One of my kids was a competitive Irish dancer, my mom was her dance mom (daughter middle child of five kids). They traveled together to Orlando, Anaheim, Boston, Chicago, Providence, Montreal, London, Dublin, Belfast, Killarney…. My daughter was 14 when her grandmother unexpectedly passed, she treasures her memories of their travels.
  9. Yes, or at the bars, pool, let him know that the majority of people his age are traveling with their families, and to put himself out there, like a new freshman in college. Nothing to lose.
  10. Yes, and from everything I’ve read is that anytime dining doesn’t work well, you still need a reservation, limited availability at least on celebrity. I like to walk into a MDR with my family of 7 and be seated at a table, when we feel like it. If someone said what they were looking for in a cruise was fine dining, a quiet pool deck, guest lecturers and high tea, I would not try to convince them that NCL was a good choice for them, because it wouldn’t be.
  11. One of the reasons I haven’t tried RCL is because I love not having to make a reservation for dinner, we show up when we want to eat (sailed DCL and didn’t like traditional, I don’t even want to make reservations the day of), I like waterslides, and I like the dress code to be as casual as possible (I have several good friends who welcome opportunities to dress up, not me). Do you sail on NCL or just complain about NCL?
  12. On our last NCL cruise my oldest were 19 and 20. There were young adult meet ups which they attended and ended up with a fairly large group. We ate breakfast with them, went off the ship with them, dinner, shows, karaoke, but they were on their own after breakfast until dinner on sea days, and stayed out when we went to bed (same with the younger kids). It’s a nice balance. My son is very social though (the summer before college he arranged several meet ups for new students).
  13. Is celebrity paying you for the hours you spend on a NCL board begging folks not to cruise NCL? I would not sail celebrity, it’s not a product that interests me, but to each their own.
  14. Lol I’m currently placing my online grocery order so I have our area’s current prices right at my fingertips!
  15. I just checked, ground beef ranges from 4.69 - 5.99, milk is $4.69, Arnold bread is 5.69, a 12 pack of Diet Coke is on sale for $7.99.
  16. The gratuity goes to those who wash the sheets and towel, those who prepare meals, servers, hosts, those who keep the ship clean, heck when my kids were little I tipped big time at restaurants.
  17. I think a couple of weeks later starts the spring break season.
  18. And I don’t think hotel revenue in NYC would be affected by a cruiseline.
  19. I disagree about NYC, I’m in NJ 10 miles outside Manhattan, just for fun I looked into an Uber from my house to Newark airport, 20 minutes, $37, I’ve paid more (my kids took an Uber xl from the airport this summer and were charged $75 for 20 minutes). If you are from SC you know how inexpensive goods and services are there. I can’t imagine paying under $15 for a taxi or Uber.
  20. The $70 seems reasonable if not a little high depending upon the time of day, I think an Uber of taxi to the pier will be cheaper than the estimate given.
  21. I primarily use my AOL email (so I could keep my 30 year Verizon.net email), it’s the worst, but I think I have at least 50,000 emails that I really should delete, no requests for $ for storage yet.
  22. We live 20 minutes from 2 cruise ports, only flew to a cruise once (and it was a WDW/cruise vacation). I doubt many move here to cruise, too expensive.
  23. I believe a 16 year old can get a passport with just one parent.
