  1. What was amazing to us was a cabin steward remembering not only our names but our former cabin number on a cruise that was four months later on the same ship (we had gone from port to starboard and met him in the hall one day on the second cruise!).
  2. We had forgotten heating pads weren't allowed and already had it in Europe before embarking. We put it in our carry on bag separating the electric cord from the heating pad and it wasn't flagged at the port security screening. We never used it onboard.
  3. We were able to use the spa on a sea day so I guess it depends soon the ship.
  4. We have found the advantage fare to cost $10/day pp for the refundable deposit without HIA. In some cases we have later added HIA through our PCC for less than the original posted price.
  5. There are vista aft suites on the Pinnacle class ships which is what he has I believe. We've also booked them when the verandahs are sold out.
  6. We bought a fleece HAL blanket with leftover OBC a few years ago. It was $35.
  7. The only negative we've had in CO is when people insisted on having the same table and then never show up without letting CO know and it sits empty the entire breakfast service. This shouldn't happen.
  8. Yes keep all the card numbers and Pins- we cancelled something and the letter from HAL said they would be refunding to a new digital gift card but it went back to the original gift cards which I had kept track of. It also took 4 days when in the past it had gone back on immediately.
  9. Ended up trying to use gift cards with a small CC addition- charged the whole amount to the CC! Called the HAL gift card # and they reversed the CC charges and applied the gift cards to the cruise. Lesson learned.
  10. Is anyone else able to make partial payments online using only gift cards? It keeps asking for CC info even though the amount is covered by the gift cards posted. Any help appreciated. TIA
  11. Those are the old prices- now 352.99 for 26-31 day premium bought prior to cruise.
  12. For our 26 day TA, the individual Premium internet is $352 ($704 for both of us). I now notice they have a multi device price of $560 for the premium internet. Can we share this or because we go through the Navigator app do we each need individual plans? The $144 savings would be nice!
  13. If you are a 4 star and not on the HIA package you can ask your steward to fill the minibar with the beverages of your choice and get them 50% off!
  14. If you put money in the laundry bag, leave a note. We got a call asking if we had forgotten to empty our pockets but explained it was for the staff. We now put in a notecard with the cash.
  15. As I stated above, if you use the AARP gift cards to buy HAL OBC online before you cruise and have a balance at the end, it will be refunded to your credit card on file. We had over $150 in port fees reimbursed on our last cruise which added to the OBC we didn't spend and had the total refund on our CC the day the cruise ended.
  16. We used AARP gift cards and bought OBC via the HAL website before we cruised. We also had nonrefundable OBC which is used first. We had credit at the end of the cruise and our credit card showed the total refund the day after the cruise ended.
  17. NS just had a 4-5pm Happy Hour only in the Ocean Bar and all drinks 50% off.
  18. We gave individual envelopes to the 2 cooks and then a single envelope with equal amounts for the additional 7 staff, mainly because when I asked the boss how many staff he had he didn't include the cooks and we felt they did a fantastic job.
  19. The FC director onboard NS said none of the cruises from Dover let specific cabins be chosen. He is waiting on a response from Seattle for the reason.
  20. We booked the 29 day FLL to Rotterdam instead of 28 day disembarking in Dover because it’s cheaper to fly back from AMS and you avoid Heathrow!
  21. We booked 2 onboard this morning and one had only guarantee cabins in every category- the FC advisor was dumbfounded since the release was only last night. He’s going to get back to us tomorrow.
  22. The 8/2 NS cruise had 280+ children onboard which is not the norm for HAL cruises. We stayed on and only have 64 children onboard now- makes a very different experience, especially in the Lido!
  23. NS is now using the cabin # on the laundry tags- something that should always have been done. We have never had any issues and love HAL’s service and are just trying to help them. Hopefully they find their clothes somewhere onboard soon!
  24. One caveat is that the NS ran out of the triplicate laundry sheets and were just using a single page. Unfortunately they didn’t take a picture of it but know it was between 12-18 items.
  25. The entire bag is lost and they have spoken to stewards and GS but keep being told they’re looking for it. They have no idea if it ever got washed. We disembark 8/23 and they want it resolved by 8/21 before we disembark.
