  1. That will become my work around in the future. Or if I have to score two free lobster tails for dinner, have my wife order a lobster tail in addition to her non-seafood entry to give to me as my 2nd.
  2. For the first time in years, we booked a cabin car that was eligible for the Captain's Club upgrade. I had forgotten about it because for years we've booked FVs which aren't eligible. Fortunately our TA remembered for us when she booked the cabin. It was worth $100-200 to us. I thought I remembered from these boards that the upgrade had to be applied at the time of booking. Again I could be wrong about that because my experience in this is limited. I also wonder if the CC upgrade is retained when you take advantage of price drops.
  3. Nice that you were talking to someone with field experience. I wish that they would rotate people through like that.
  4. You must be talking about Solstice class FVs if you say there are four on the ship. Of the five ships that make up Solstice class, only Silhouette had its 4 FV cabins turned into suites during her drydock to get her Revolution makeover. They were first named Sunset Suites, but now are designated as Horizon Suites.
  5. Again, nice photos. I am glad that you had calm seas for your day at Cape Horn. During our visit, the seas were calm but the rainy weather didn't make it feel that way.
  6. I am sorry to hear the sad news. Thank you for sharing it with us.
  7. My experience from having been associated with one pre-COVID cruise cancellation is to NOT wait to be notified. The information flow from within Celebrity and the flow out to the public is uneven especially if the news is late/fast breaking. If you wait, you may get the news much later than everyone else. The biggest reason I can think of for not waiting is if you want to rebook on another sailing. You want to be able to have your pick of cabins when you do that before the crowd moves in. There are a lot of people who are disappointed that their favorite cabin on the new sailing is gone or that a certain cabin category may not be available anymore. There is also the remote possibility of being able to get something done through Celebrity that may not be offered to later passengers because an official policy is eventually issued.
  8. The fact that your sailing is no longer available for booking on Celebrity's system is not a good sign. If Celebrity cancels a cruise, that is usually their first visible step. However not all cruises that suddenly become unavailable for booking end up as cancellations either.
  9. That was Mount Sarmiento you saw from the MDR at dinner yesterday.
  10. We've taken our kids on 14 Celebrity cruises since they were 3 yrs old (daughter) and 7 mo old (son). They've always love it. The kids club (Camp at Sea) is geared very well for the 9 yr old range. If you are sailing in June, there should be plenty of families with kids her age on board.
  11. Yes, it is a sight to behold if you never have seen it before. I lived in the Bay Area for a summer and I don't remember the lack of fireflies. Too many other things to see for me I guess. They wouldn't like the weather you are having of late!
  12. I spent part of my teen years in Springfield, Ohio. Our house was in a rural area as well and we got great views of the night sky and the fireflies.
  13. I didn't think of that form of compensation--perhaps they will price protect you if you choose another equivalent sailing. I am sorry this happen to you; good luck. Let us know what the eventual outcome is, please.
  14. I am happy for you now. I remembered you used the word "settling" to describe your excitement when you first booked it late last year which made me disappointed for you. Below is a photo of your future (Summit at Kings Wharf) except the ship is painted differently, the skies will be blue, and there will be a person with a big smile looking out over their magnificent Deck 11 aft balcony. Summit docked at Kings Wharf, Aug 2010
  15. Because the cancellation is for a cruise that is so far into the future, expect little or no compensation for the affected passengers.
  16. Sorry, I don't know that for a fact. I was just making a joke about the size differences between the two ships.
  17. That's 60 days of sailing that was removed from the schedule. That does sound like extended dry dock time--perhaps to get her long delayed Revolution makeover.
  18. When I read this post, I was worried that my Dec 2023 Solstice (Asia) cruise was cancelled as well. I am pre-disposed to believing that since it has been cancelled 3 times already. It still appears on my Cruise Planner and shows no indication of being cancelled. When I look at the Solstice sailings available for booking in 2025 (Jan - Mar), there are 3 sailings listed and several dates missing.
  19. You should expect the NFL games to be carried at the bar in the casino (Deck 4), Celebrity Central (Deck 4 starboard, forward of the casino), and on your stateroom television. It will be published in the Celebrity Today. I hope you are not expecting to see two kickoff returns for TD again.
