  1. five dots - not in Morse alphabet. But it means numeric 5. So, 5 what? 😏
  2. On another thread I read that someone that was on board the Escape last week heard Code Bravo a few times to deck 1/2 compartment 16.
  3. Thank goodness!! They changed the chairs at the sushi bar!! When we were on the Spirit in Feb 2020 post dry dock (& pre-sh!t-hit-the-fan) the chairs were too low!
  4. These and the Panama Canal x2, both way Transatlantic crossings. Those itineraries are fantastic .... and I hope NCL will repeat that for winter 2023-24 so we can go! We're going on one cruise next month (Iceland & Greenland) and already have an UK trip booked in Oct and have already booked B2B Alaskan next year May. The ship Sun might not be a big ship but the new itineraries are bloody good! Note: the two Transatlantic crossings are not of the usual kinds - the eastbound one is in Nov (when other ships do the westbound) and the westbound is in April (when other ships do the other way).
  5. Oh dear! I thought you were on the Aug 7 (as you said just two months away, lol) .... I just had another mock booking for Aug 14 ... there is just one B1 cabin left and it's a HC. No non-HC B1 cabins left. Asking to switch to another balcony cabin that is not a B1 category one would be considered as a cancel/rebook because the rate is different. The cabins you mentioned (11132, 36, 40) is BB category with price reduction of approx $200 pp. This calls for a cancel/rebook. My suggestion is to stick with the aft cabin. Closer to the cruise date if they need to bump you out of the HC cabin they should move you to another balcony cabin and give you OBC, or another B1 cabin if one becomes available. Failing that they should upgrade you to a Club Balcony Suite. By the way, I had a look at the Club Balcony Suite (MA or even better M4) prices and saw that they are slightly lower than the aft Balcony B1. Perhaps you can try calling NCL and ask to switch to a M4 and let them eat the price difference. Deck 12 and up. And no cancel/rebook. OTOH, people who need the HC cabins often book way ahead to grab the cabins. And the aft-facing HC cabins are the least favourite because of the longer walk/wheel to those cabins from the elevators especially that the corridors are rather narrow for the wheelers to navigate easily and freely on their own. Anyway, please stop fretting and start the countdown to the fabulous Alaskan cruise!
  6. @Mm3owth what cabin category did you book? Club Balcony Suite (M6)? Or is it just Balcony (B1)? Pray that it's the Balcony (B1) one, then you can call NCL and ask to change from B1 HC to a regular B1 cabin. They should allow this, even if it's past the final payment due date. It's supposed to be a cosmetic change, not a cancel/rebook. Just a month ago I asked for a cabin change - same category - to the one close to the elevators for our cruise next month, and they complied - send me a new cruise confirmation with new cabin number. It was 2 months after the final payment due. I did mock booking and saw that there are several non-HC B1 cabins left for the Aug 7 cruise. On deck 14. Unfortunately, if you booked a M6 cabin, there are no non-HC aft-facing M6 cabins. But there are several M6 available on deck 8 forward.
  7. True. Pearl left around 6pm last night and as soon as she cleared Bermuda the downpours started. Now it's a bit windy but no rain. Sea currents moving fast with white caps.
  8. We were on Viking Orion TWICE in summer 2021 when she did weekly cruises around Bermuda during the months June to Sept. We did the saliva spit into tubes every morning - it was no big deal to us - we happily went along with it - with stride. It was the PCR test .... Brain swabbed Antigen tests are weaker than the saliva PCR tests ... the latter, when it turns out to be positive, tells you that you got the early onset of covid and stops you from spreading the virus to others if you isolate immediately. The antigen tests turn positive a few days after the PCR ones. Then it's too late as you'd have had already spread the virus in air and to the others. We (party of 4) were on the Joy in March. It was great cruise. We got off on the Saturday, went for antigen tests that morning in Miami, got the negative test results an hour later, flew home to Bermuda later that day. Three days later two of us were feeling under the weather and did antigen tests - positive! Two days later the other 2 tested positive. Had we all taken PCR tests while in Miami we'd be testing positive and not be able to fly home!
  9. Great to hear you’re enjoying yourselves! As for bowling, you can pretend you’re kids and ask for the gutter guards to be extended … you’ll have better fun bowling for the pins with balls bouncing off the gutter rails in the high seas!! We did that! Welcome to Bermuda!
  10. When NCL launches 6 new Prima ships over the next few years (starting later on this year) they need to find new a homeport or two. Other cruiselines are also building and launching new ships. Norfolk as a new homeport would be a nice change from some others that are big crowded cities with greatly expensive hotels and transportation.
  11. I read somewhere that NCL Joy stops in Norfolk for provisions - cheaper (and easier) than Manhattan. Same thing as other NCL ships stopping in Port Canaveral for that purpose when they cruise out of Manhattan.
  12. Yes! The Local is so nice - created during the Jan 2020 drydock from old Blue Lagoon and Shanghai combined.
  13. No longer there - it's now 7-day on Dec 22-29 2023. There is a 9-day but it's on 29 Dec 2023 - 7 Jan 2024.
  14. The Dawn? I think you mean the Sun. I don’t think Japan has reopened for cruise ships. Anyone please correct me if I’m wrong.
  15. @Rob_H following your thread eagerly! 🤩 We’re on Spirit for two B2B Alaska next year May. ENJOY!!
  16. Well, I was wrong and @njhorsemanwas correct 😁 ... The reason I said that Cape Race brought the boats, etc for the Sail GP was that we saw no sailboats out on the water for practices (except for one solo boat Switzerland (SUI) that somehow came to the island a week or 2 before and they were practicing on the water a lot) UNTIL the day after the Cape Race's arrival to the Dockyard. 🙃 Update: Cape Care left Grassy Bay yesterday mid-afternoon escorted by Tug Powerful and then when they reached off St. George's the pilot was kicked off the ship. Cape Race continued its way SW, destination unknown. P.S. Sorry to hear all in your party of 6 came down with the virus when you got back home. We all (party of 4) also came down with it 3 days after our Joy cruise back in March out of Miami to Western Caribbean.
  17. Just bring a simple extension cord, like this one: Amazon.com: GoGreen Power (GG-24815) 16/2 15’ Household Extension Cord, 3 Outlets, Brown, 15 Ft : Everything Else Minimum 15 feet.
  18. No poolside grills on megaships like BA and BA+. Too many passengers.
  19. If you look at the ceiling in upper left of photo, it’s an outline of a drop down Pullman bed from the ceiling.
  20. Nope, it's a vehicle carrier "Cape Race". It brought some sailboats, etc. for the Sail Grand Prix.
  21. Anyone watching from the ship the Sail GP boats sailing around?
  22. You can shove your empty suitcases under the beds. There is good space there. I got puzzled at first when you mentioned you were sitting on Broadwalk outside Casey’s …. well it’s the Waterfront and Cagney’s. Carry on enjoying the rest of the cruise! We were on the Getaway for the Copenhagen to Miami Transatlantic in Oct 2017 and had great time - loved the ship.
