  1. We had a junior suite- the soft goods were ripped and stained. The wood furniture damaged. Reminded me of a college apartment rental. The entire ship was a disappointment. We enjoy Royal. The Oasis class ships are wonderful- and we are also booked on the Icon- but this one ship was a terrible disappointment. we are diamond plus members. Will stick to newer ships- or those that are updated.
  2. We were in a Junior Suite on the Adventure about 1 1/2 years ago. It was a poor experience. We love Royal, Oasis and Freedom class, but the "suite" was a rust bucket. Hope that they redo everything. The concierge lounge coffee machine was broken daily- so many things not in good order. Hope they either fix up the ship, or sell it. Looking foward to trying the Icon.
  3. Wow- those slides are insane! Great for young in shape people! I would definately have a heart attack! I will enjoy lounging by the pools.
  4. We will be sailing on the Icon in March. Looking foward to hearing opinions for early guests on this ship. Should be fabulous.
  5. We liked deck 9 in Central park- very cost effective and you get a big picture with a nice seating area. Cabin slightly longer as it doesn't have a balcony. Always a good deal- or deck 10 with a small balcony- do not book a cabin under the pool deck, too noisy. The handicapped rooms aren't as comfortable for those not in a wheelchair- we got one, not by choice, but as a guarantee- the bathroom was suited for a wheel chair and missing the regular shower, sink and storage. So people in "perfect" health are sometimes put in these cabins if they aren't booked under a guarantee and you cannot change the cabin.
  6. I would try to upgrade the second cabin to a suite- or consider using speciality restaurants for your dinners- the fee might cost more , but you will be together and have better food.
  7. We were in a sunset sky suite on one of the ships, forgot which one- and had window washing equipment parked outside our side window- what a waste. Also bright sun all day made balcony not useless during the day- much to sunny and hot.
  8. Honestly while currently on the “silly” as many refer to it, the edge class ships have some wonderful features. Worth a try. We typically sail in suites, and the amenities are wonderful! However many enjoy the infinite balconies, cove balconies or aft balconies. Aft and cove balconies more traditional
  9. We refer to it as the Silly. After over 50 cruises we , and many staff members refer to it with this way. Lol
  10. Actually had my hair done by a young man. He did a great job. Going to him again for another wash and blow dry next chic night.
  11. We have two Royal caribbean cruises planned. March 9, Icon of the Seas and August think the 9th also, symphony of the seas. Will try to book another celebrity cruise for next January- perhaps a b/2/b. Will try another Edge class ship- have done the Edge and Apex. Doing the Silhouette tomorrow.
  12. The money you save if you book a well located balcony cabin, you can use to book specialty restaurants. I found some dishes in Tuscan, especially the pasta good to very good. Found blu with two top tables in a close row- not at all private. Save your money. Get a better located cabin.
  13. Thanks for the reply. I bring a curling iron. My hair is fine and straight! Opposite issue
  14. Having sailed on multiple cruise lines for over 20 years- 50 plus cruises, I didn't find princess to our liking- Found the ships plain vanilla and food also. We love the Celebrity ships, especially the S and Edge class ships for food, bar service and general all around facilities. However the Oasis class Royal ships are the best for entertainment . Service also excellent and food very good- on both lines we enjoy speciality restaurants- princess has limited choice of speciality restaurants and we do not like the banquet style dining hall. Celebrity edge has multiple regular dining rooms, which make you feel like you are dining in a restaurant daily. Clearly many people enjoy Carnival and Princess as they sail pretty full.
  15. I loved the choices on the Celebrity Edge class ships. Our favorite restaurant was Eden. The S class we enjoy the lawn club grill. We also typically dine once in each specialty restaurant, except not sushi lovers. We found the food on princess, not nearly as good as Celebrity- or Royal- Honestly, we are foodies and IMO we have the best restaurants available at home- so if it is just food you want, no cruise ship typically can beat a 5 star land based restaurant. We don't go on a cruise just for the food- You will enjoy the Edge class ships.
  16. Hello, I will be sailing on the silhouette next week and typically enjoy a hair blow out and style one or two times on a cruise- Some of the hairstylist are excellent others horrible. Anybody use the salon recently? How were the services? Any particular stylist you would recommend? Thanks
  17. I do not mean that I don’t like the mclass ships loved sailing to Bermuda multiple times on the summit! My dh and I are also in our sunset years!
  18. We did a b/2/b on the Apex last year- My DH has had multile skin CA's and cannot be in the sun. We did find some shaded spots on the ship on the Suite deck. However you should get up early as they are limited. I heard the newer ships have more shaded areas. Enjoy your cruise.
  19. E Class ships are the best. They keep getting better! Try it-you'll like it!
  20. Perhaps celebrity plans to sell the old ships to make way for new ones. Maybe the constellation will join the galaxy and horizon
  21. Best to call Celebrity and order from an agent. They can assist you. Enjoy your cruise.
  22. Agree- best to book dining and excursions on line- watch for sales- check often- especially around holidays. When on board, with a dining package, go to a restaurant representative- they are typically sitting outside restaurants or go to any specialty restaurant to book times/dates. If you have anytime dining, never a problem. Wait on line at the selected restaurant and request a table for two- with fixed dining, as said above call celebrity or if you are dealing with a TA ask them to handle on your behalf. We always take as much luggage as we want depending upon the lenght of the cruise- we store our suitcases under the bed after unpacking. We typically do not bring snacks- food always available and junk food snacks are sold in the shops. Typically at each port, you have a pretty long walk to the main area- you can get a taxi if you want to go to a specific location. It varies by port. Unlike Royal, no show reservations are necessary, except for the comedy club. We did a b/2/b on the apex last January and absolutely loved it. It is a great ship. Don't miss dining in Eden. Enjoy your cruise.
  23. Done all the time. Unfortunately (for some) sickness or tragedy occur a couple of days before, or the day of the cruise, and a cabin/suite may become available
  24. Probably 48 hours in advance. You will probably get an onboard credit for the amount .
