The long dining hall table sounds like Aqua class tables for two on the M and S class ships. Not for me.
-
This company seems expensive.

Would you book an Aqua guarantee cabin on Celebrity Edge?
Cruise a holic replied to lovedecruise's topic in Celebrity Cruises
If you really like AQ and aren't fussy about cabin location, why not? As long as the price is ok for you. -
Surcharges for drinks in Retreat Lounge
Cruise a holic replied to TrueCruiseaholic's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Never had any surcharge and we order premium alcohol. However, if you order expensive champagne or wine- I assume you should pay. Especially for a bottle. -
Amex platinum cruise privileges run around
Cruise a holic replied to cusematt4's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We get the Amex Plat perks when we book on the ship then transfer to an AMEX Ta. Some TA's do not participate in the Amex program. Make sure that you use an AMEX TA. We had a TA who initially was a participating Amex platinum TA, but dropped her membership- perhaps didn't want to share any commissions. Make sure you ask the TA and get an e-mail from her stating you will get additional shipboard credit- some TA's won't give you any credit or free dinners on board. -
Suite/Retreat versus everything else
Cruise a holic replied to Bently57's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We loved the Apex suite class. We truly enjoyed the suite lounge and sun deck. Luminae was great! While expensive the service and perks truly make a good vacation an excellent vacation. Loved the ship and service. s and m class also great but e class suites and amenities wonderful -
Maybe I shouldn't sail with that company- Who knows! We love cruising but the prices are now obscene.

We cannot locate a good TA for MSC. Also, we tried filling out the form for getting reciprocity from celebrity we are Elite plus. The form asks for the Canptains club ID card- don't have one.
-
We are also Elite Plus on Celebrity. We enjoy suites but now with the drop in service and price are also considering MSC Yacht club. May try for our next winter cruise. A new adventure.

We book with Celebrity air some times. When you pay the final bill the airfare is due. They do send reminders- we typically pay a few days before the payment is due. Never had a problem. If we use a TA and he/she knows we have celebrity air, when we pay we also get notification at least a week in advance- Never had a cruise cancelled.

Hello Lois, Of course if you do not have a family or partner- you should "right size". But many do have children- and step children- and entertain family. We also have siblings- and neices and nephews-and many close friends, so we have a very large extended family. We are all very close and visit each other often. In your situation I am sure your condo works well for you.
-
Ironically, we have a 2800 sq foot home- but if I could I would look for a larger home. We have four sons who are married and a total of 10 grandchildren- we love entertaining and it is great to have extra space. I do not understand why people downsize? If their family and friend circle get larger, isn't nice to have extra space? However if you can no longer afford the maintain a large house- you need to do what works best for you.

Here's The Problem - What's The Solution
Cruise a holic replied to Hawkstar33's topic in Celebrity Cruises
We are senior citizens- Didn't like the infinite balcony, but other options- on the e class- Aft cabins, oceanview or if you can swing a suite great! The e-class ships are wonderful! We went on a b/2/b apex cruise and found it to be the best celebrity cruise we ever had- we were in a sky suite. Our next cruise in about a month is on an S class. We also enjoy the silhouette and reflection, other fine also. But you should try the E-class at least once- -
Here's The Problem - What's The Solution
Cruise a holic replied to Hawkstar33's topic in Celebrity Cruises
IF you are so concerned, take the cancellation insurance. It is pricey- but might work for you. Unfortunately, the ships are still sailing at capacity. Many people enjoy sailing regardless of any cuts. The cruise lines have the upper hand now- as consumers, we need to decide if cruising is really for us. -
Shuttle from Port to FLL Airport-WAITLISTED?
Cruise a holic replied to CruiserKris34's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Definately use Uber or lyft- not expensive and you will go directly to your ship. Easy- Or we take a regular taxii. -
Perhaps a dumb question; on the Elite evening happy hour…

Just go to meet people -
While some people might have the money to spend on those elaborate shore X's and floating cabanas- let's not forget that if the weather isn't good- you paid for perhaps a half day. We went to Coco Cay and few months ago- but early afternoon it started to pour- we went back to the ship earlier then anticipated- I heard that those who remained, were okay after about 45 minutes- Didn't have a cabana. I assume if a storm comes early, you get your money back. But who knows.

Just off the Celebrity Ascent Inaugural
Cruise a holic replied to Bently57's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Looking foward to sailing on the Ascent. We had a wonderful experience on the Apex in a sky suite. We will do the same on the Ascent and Beyond. We LOVE the suite deck and lounge and the Sky suite and above have true balconies. We had an infinite on the Edge- found it claustrophobic. I felt it was too narrow- The three dining rooms is a true plus- Eden was great! loved that class of ship. But still enjoy the S class ships. -
Does Celebrity Think We Are Stupid?
Cruise a holic replied to OceanCruise's topic in Celebrity Cruises
Due to corporate greed, cruise lines, and other business have increased prices and cut service- I expect that this isn't only limited to Celebrity, but like dominos, all cruise lines will be the same- We pay more an get less. I feel sorry for the employee's on the ships, as they clearly will be expected to work harder and get paid less. We used to tip our butler, but will not if we don't see him/her daily and they are unable to provide us with any service like previously. We have lower expectations. But recently on the Apex- in a suite and it was perfect. Will be sailing on an S class in January. We now mix our vacations to include All Inclusive. Have had wonderful experiences in Cancun. -

We have visited the Sky lounge during the elite cocktail hour. Since no drink menu items were to our liking, we went to the bar and ordered what we wanted via our drink package. Never a problem. So if you have the package and prefer another drink- go directly to the bar in the lounge. Enjoy.
