  1. You could not be more wrong. Covid deaths for adolescents is 0.2% per hundred thousand. The previous analysis, which examined data through 2016, showed that firearm-related injuries were second only to motor vehicle crashes (both traffic-related and nontraffic-related) as the leading cause of death among children and adolescents, defined as persons 1 to 19 years of age.4 Since 2016, that gap has narrowed, and in 2020, firearm-related injuries became the leading cause of death in that age group (Figure 1). From 2019 to 2020, the relative increase in the rate of firearm-related deaths of all types (suicide, homicide, unintentional, and undetermined) among children and adolescents was 29.5% — more than twice as high as the relative increase in the general population. The increase was seen across most demographic characteristics and types of firearm-related death (Fig. S1 in the Supplementary Appendix, available with the full text of this letter at NEJM.org). In addition, drug overdose and poisoning increased by 83.6% from 2019 to 2020 among children and adolescents, becoming the third leading cause of death in that age group. This change is largely explained by the 110.6% increase in unintentional poisonings from 2019 to 2020. The rates for other leading causes of death have remained relatively stable since the previous analysis, which suggests that changes in mortality trends among children and adolescents during the early Covid-19 pandemic were specific to firearm-related injuries and drug poisoning; Covid-19 itself resulted in 0.2 deaths per 100,000 children and adolescents in 2020.1
  2. Our son sailed Navigator two weeks ago. Weekend cruises were at 100%, Mid week cruises were At 75%. Only the bottom two MDR decks were being used. Early seating was very full, late traditional was pretty empty. All Shows and lounges were open. A bartender told him the midweek cruises would be close to 100% as schools went into summer break.
  3. We have a 10 night Quantum coming up and the UDP has been at $211.00 for over a month. That is a decent price with 5 sea day lunches included. Thats $14.00 a meal.
  4. They need to give up on MTD, that is what is not working. Early or late TD is a breeze.
  5. 21 days on Symphony and have never seen a wrist band. Last cruise on Navigator we got a covid wrist band.
  6. The reality is they have burned through and borrowed billions during the pandemic. Now they are scratching out every penny they can. We can put up with the slow service and cutbacks as long as they don't touch our daily 10 free drink vouchers.
  7. Off Navigator two months ago, son off navigator two weeks ago, DL had a pretty decent light breakfast spread, coffee all day was a plus. Tell them if you do not want a voucher used for a beverage. Used the vouchers at Plaza Bar and Playmakers several times and were not dinged 4 different times. Some bar tenders seem to be old school and just hand you your card back when they see your diamond or remember you. We always tip a couple bucks for Diamond drinks. DL was for Pinnacle only during Happy Hour, the cosmopolitan club was open for D and D+ only every night with a pretty good appetizer layout. Had several drinks up there before dinner and charge against voucher was hit or miss. This is what the D happy hour looked like every night in the Cosmopolitan club.
  8. Even though you pick a night there is a 99% chance there will be no reservation made for you, picking a night and time is simply a place holder. As soon as you board go to any restaurant to make your three picks, no need to reserve night one or two. Usually Prime Rib or Lobster on formal night. You did not mention which ship you are on, if your ship has a Wonderland that is usually the shortest line when making all of your reservations.
  9. That was when ships were sailing at 50% or less. Now kids are out of school and cruising is picking up faster than they can hire crew. Add to that the effect of most MTD wanting to eat as early as possible , MTD room is pretty empty at 8:30..
  10. That is $31 a night, a little on the high side. But, post pandemic prices seem to do nothing but go up. Book now and if a sale appears you can cancel and rebook.
  11. We have done three Oasis Class transatlantic cruises in OCT. Ship sails with about 4500, sails with 1500 less kids. Absolutely fantastic cruise if you sail for sea day relaxation. All have had great weather, shorts and t shirts as soon as the ship clears the Med.
  12. Check the fine print, in the past a AARP gift card could be used ONLY to make a NEW reservation. RCL has a poor redemption policy for gift cards.
  13. $49 for antigen test with results in 15 minutes if you wait, Pcr is $99 and takes 1 - 2 hours for results. Antigen is the best way to go. Pcr picks up covid that antigen may miss. Lab Doctors is half way between the train station and the port. Uber to lab doctors and then Uber again to the port.
  14. Lab Doctor.. $49 just walk in. Less than a mile from the port, near 17th street. Open Saturdays VISIT OUR FACILITY LAB DOCTOR 1425-A SE 17th St. Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316 4 miles from Ft. Lauderdale Airport Click here to fill up our forms online (up to 24 hours before your visit).
  15. You can still look for two open cabins, no reason not to move the cabin you are already booked into. Not moving is a blessing.
  16. Absolutely the longest checkin line, over two hours, was after a cruise and flying out of FCO. Not worth the chance.
