  1. The cove balconies are some of the best cabins at sea in my opinion. BUT......do not get one under the galley (can be noisy) or the ones toward the front (spray can be a problem if rough seas). Carnival ships are "fun" but do not expect 5 star food or accommodations.
  2. The same screen comes up in my booked cruises. Assumed this was an option to pre pay gratuities. Had nothing to do with the beverage packages. Confusing why it appears in the Drink Packages menu.
  3. Great review as always. Always excited when one of your new stories pop up. You tell it like it is, the good, bad and ugly. As you, and others have pointed out, some of the guests these days on Carnival are not desirable to travel with. Sure the majority do not fall into that category. I love Carnival but............since I can afford it, will take my travel dollars elsewhere for the time being. Love your stories. Love you. Will always follow no matter where you go.
  4. I have never had a cabin on the bow of the ship. But........most, if not every time, that I ventured towards the bow of the ship while underway the wind was very strong. One time blew the ice cream out of my daughters cone. I would think the view from a bow cabin would be spectacular but the balcony would be unusable while at sea.
  5. Carnival does not have "formal nights". They have "elegant nights". A joke only worried about by people who have not cruised before. I always try to dress nice on any night, but nothing special. They will let anyone in no matter what they are wearing, especially if you have a baseball cap on your head.
  6. Met him on the Dream (I think) about 20 years ago. Best waiter we have ever had on any cruise. Must be getting old by now.
  7. I live in Mississippi where mosquitoes will pick you up and take you away. Keeping all skin covered is important. DEET spray is the only thing that I have found that slows them down. Also, the Off clip on fans are effective.
  8. Congratulations on booking an Owners Suite. Sometimes not easy to do. I assure you there are probably several people waitlisted hoping you give up your cabin.
  9. Beginning January 1, 2023 Euro will become the official currency of the country. Supposedly, all businesses should take both currencies in 2023 and convert exclusively to the Euro in 2024. Probably will be confusion in early 2023.
  10. Thank you. Thought so, but never been there so very grateful to hear from someone that knows the lay of the land.
  11. I was going to use Rome Cabs to take us from our Rome hotel to the port. We will be arriving a few days before the cruise. Was considering taking a regular taxi from the airport to the hotel. Any advantage of using Rome Cabs from the airport?
  12. Thank you, Robjame for posting this as was looking forward to these upgrades. Would have been disappointing to board the ship to find out otherwise. Obviously, I am using the wrong travel agent who has not notified me of these developments. Hopefully, these will be the only things they cancel. Probably not.
  13. We have a cruise booked on The Riviera in April, 2023 that was supposed to end in Venice. We will now end in Trieste. We were "officially' told about the change about two months ago and given $250 OBC for our troubles. The cruise is now listed as Rome to Trieste.
  14. Definitely, confused me, but glad you got it worked out.
  15. The "SEARCH" facility on Cruise Critic is totally worthless.
  16. Depending on when you are going..........the local currency would be Euros. They are in the process of converting.
  17. Works great. Add lime juice. Drink several. If a problem switch to margaritas.
  18. Thanks for the information. Much appreciated.
  19. Was not worried about time but the steps involved entering the train stations and also the trains. You inspire me to take the train instead of a costly private transfer since sounds like you had no problem. Is there space above your seat to stow normal size carry on bags? Realize large suitcases would have to be placed in the luggage racks. Thanks for your information.
  20. Since I have a cruise booked on the Riviera and are making plans, also wonder if it will be on schedule. We shall see. At least they are not having to build the ship but seems like major renovations will take place.
  21. How easy is it when you have heavy luggage? Especially getting on and off the train.
