  1. I have never been on a Carnival ship where those sales announcements are more than 2 or 3 over the course of 18 hours. If it motivates people to spend more money, and in effect subsidize my cruise, I am all for it. And the reason the cruise director makes an announcement in your cabin on debarkation morning is because you are required to be out of your cabin very very shortly. If you are still asleep by the time that announcement is made, you are probably going to be scrambling to leave your cabin in time.
  2. It shouldn't affect your cruise at all. This is an additional ship, not a replacement.
  3. Out of how many hundreds of thousands of cruisers who have visited Jamaica in the last year? I know way more people who have been robbed at gunpoint in the U.S. than in a port of call. If you don't want to get off the boat in Jamaica (or even choose a cruise that has Jamaican ports), that's your call. Bur if Carnival only visited ports that had zero crime, the would not be able to stop anywhere but Catalina Island in California.
  4. The point is that you shoudn't wait until you get aboard to fix this problem. The earlier you address it, the better the chances are that they will be able to fix things for you.
  5. They have more than enough capacity to store food for a 12-day cruise. Now will you be able to get a good banana after the first ten days or so? Probably not.
  6. I certainly hope Carnival sticks to its guns and doesn't pay anything out for this type of event. If people start successfully suing for things that are completely out of the cruise lines' control, it will be the end of reasonably-priced cruising.
  7. I believe the OP is looking for information from people who are on the ship right now.
  8. I use squaremouth.com and have had good luck with them. Their search engine is really good and you can use filters to get the coverage you want. There are plans that cover pre-existing conditions. Of course, they are more expensive.
  9. Which makes this space more efficient, because you can use it in the way that suits you best!
  10. Well, the only Monkee that is still alive is Mickey Dolenz, so the chances that you would run into him on Gibraltar are pretty slim. 🤣🤣🤣
  11. It could be a rule that they have decided to have on that particular ship. Or whoever is in charge of enforcing the (no food in the pool area) has a different definition of what is considered "the pool area". I don't know why even an inexperienced crew member would enforce a rule (especially one that he/she knows is likely to upset a passenger) that didn't actually exist. Did people have food on the blue loungers during lunch and dinnertime? Maybe it's a rule for the late evening.
  12. If you are paying $60 to get your hair braided by a local in Nassau, that means it would probably cost at least $150 on the ship. After all, I can pay $20 for a massage in port that Carnival charges about $100 for. And getting it done on the island supports the local economy. Sixty dollars is probably a lot of money for folks living on the island. If you want to "save time", I would suggest getting your hair braided before you start on your trip. Most cities and larger towns have salons that braid hair.
  13. I have ordered these pillows for my home, and they seem to be the same as those on the ships.
  14. Not judging, but since people regularly start new threads with the question "What are the advantages of having a PVP?", this is one of them.
  15. On several of my recent cruises, I didn't have to ask. They offered them as soon as I sat down, and I even had my phone in my hand.
  16. Really? I have ordered it at least a half-dozen times on different ships and it has been the same dishes every time. I don't mind because it has been really good.
  17. I am guessing that it is because March is one of the highest demand time periods for Carnival because people like to cruise with their kids over Spring Break. Celebrity is geared towards older folks, who are less likely to be tied to the school calendar.
  18. Anyone who says all the food on the ship is "inedible" is either grossly exaggerating or the world's pickiest eater. Overall, think the food is good. I would consider several of the items in the MDR (short ribs, brisket, soups, bitter and blanc, etc) to be great. I would never let one or two anonymous opinions on a public website (especially negative ones, complainers like to complain) set my expectations. Tens of thousands of passengers board Carnival ships every week as repeat guests. If the food was truly that bad, why would so many people choose to sail with them again?
  19. I love being on deck 1. Very few people roaming the halls down there, and it is easy peasy to get to the disembarkation point for port visits.
  20. Thanks for clarifying, but I believe the original question was whether or not you can buy a wine package at a 25% discount with Cheers, and the answer appears to be "no".
  21. Why would the class of ship determine the quality of the food?
  22. I base my expectations for Princess cruises on Love Boat reruns.
  23. The odds are in your favor. I have been on 20+ Carnival cruises and spend nearly all of my deck time on Serenity, and have never had an experience with loud obnoxious people there.
