  1. I read your post and I was referring to the other cases that you mentioned (the longer cruise examples). If anything, the staff have to contend with this, cruise after cruise - it’s the nature of the beast when so many different people are in close contact. Then it starts all over again with the next group of cruise passengers.
  2. And if there have been 4 or 5 sea days then someone must have had it before they got on the ship (and tested negative on their 3-day prior pre-test) or at a port stop before those days as you can’t catch COVID from just being on a ship. It will have been brought on by someone initially, and it’s quite possible that they don’t know they’ve got it if they are asymptomatic.
  3. Was that prior to the US dropping their negative COVID test to fly? If so, does that mean that now those 7 bus loads would just get on the flight home, with or without COVID?
  4. 🤷‍♀️ only quoted what my optician stated. They probably change it according to who’s sitting in their chair 😆.
  5. Yes, the same. Optician told me that it’s related to blue eyes and fair skin.
  6. Super 👍. We’re been to Iceland previously on Infinity which was brilliant, but Newfoundland and Greenland are both new to us.
  7. Hope you’re doing a Live thread for the Greenland cruise as we’re considering doing that one next year.
  8. So sorry for your loss. Don was always a great help to many on these boards. My condolences to you and all the family.
  9. Linda, A little off topic, but what was Summit like? We’re considering a cruise on her next year, however, it’s the only ship in that class we’ve not sailed on - Connie has always been one of our favourites ☺️. I realise she’s been revolutionised, just wondered what your opinion of her was post-Covid and post-revamp. TIA.
  10. Sorry you are in quarantine but glad to hear your symptoms are mild 👍. I thought port side was the isolation deck, midship. Has this now changed? Sorry to ask, but which range of cabin numbers are the 4 cabins in on the starboard side? We have no requirements to self-isolate here when you leave the ship, so it seems strange for them to tell you that you need to 🤷‍♀️. We purposely booked a sailing from Southampton so that we wouldn’t have all the issues when returning to our homeport should we contract covid - can totally understand your confusion. Hope it’s smooth sailing home when you disembark on Fri.
  11. 🤣😆 I think we’re on about 2 totally different Birminghams 😆!
  12. I remember celebrating the Silver Jubilee with a street party in Birmingham in 1977😄.
  13. Sorry to hear that, but hopefully she’s made the right move and is now much happier 👍. We’ve not been on any of the Edge class ships as the IV put us off tbh. No doubt we’ll give them a try one day.
  14. Is your daughter still on X ships? We love X but also started cruising Princess for the variety of itineraries and the cost comparison when travelling in peak periods. We found we could sail on Princess for 14 nights in the summer on different itineraries compared to 7 on X on the usual European offerings. The entertainment on X did take a real nosedive as they perceived pax wanted to entertain themselves rather than them provide the variety. Princess does give a good mix. We really enjoyed our Princess cruises pre-Covid, just hoping we feel the same now 🤞.
  15. I wondered about them only selling balcony and above on our sailing and thought they were obviously holding the insides back; annoying really as we usually book an inside for our kids and we’ve had to put them in a balcony 🙁. I’m expecting all the sailings in our main summer months to be at full capacity - they’ll want to recoup as much as possible after the last couple of years.
  16. Off topic, but I hope you are well 👍.
  17. OP, I understand where you are coming from as my DS has OCD and hates others touching his things in his room, in fact he doesn’t welcome anyone in his room. We were considering asking the steward to just replace towels etc. and let him sort the rest of the cleaning himself; like you, he feels that once he’s cleaned everything, then his area is his ‘safe space’. And I presume you didn’t mean anyone ‘stealing’ your possessions when you mentioned ‘hiding them away,’ more the case of you didn’t want anyone touching your items after you’d cleaned/wiped them over. COVID has definitely left a huge mark on how many people now live their lives. Everyone has to find their own level of comfort sailing in these post-covid times.
  18. We switched off with Susan Calman. Unfortunately, she’s not to our taste. We did enjoy JM but left when the singing started.
  19. There appears to only be a few sailings (Australia) advertised for the Christmas holidays season in 2023. Are more due for release shortly? TIA.
  20. Apart from the issues above, what did you think about the ship, food, cabin/suite and staff onboard?
