  1. Is that a US thing? A Carnival thing? This past October I used electronic boarding passes to board the Royal Anthem of the Seas in Southampton.
  2. You probably need to invoke the Cancel For Any Reason provision of the policy. That would only provide you with a percentage of the cruise policy. Everything else regarding the medical costs etc are on you. Policy coverage doesn't begin until the day you board the ship.
  3. "When to buy Carnival Vacation Protection insurance" The answer is NEVER! Why? The medical coverage is secondary. No pre-existing conditions coverage for the travelers or sometimes more importantly the non-traveling family members. The medical limit is woefully low at $20K. Coverage is for the time period of the cruise only. If you fly in a day or 2 early, or extend the vaca by a day or so, you're on your own. The ONLY thing I can say positive about cruise line policy is that it includes Cancel For Any Reason and the price is not age dependent. Personally, I use a broker who offers travel policies from 9 different companies. Cost the consumer nothing, they get paid commission by the insurance companies. My broker is https://tripinsurancestore.com but there are others also like insuremytrip.com
  4. Never, ever, under any circumstances book your travel insurance thru your travel provider. That insurance that they provide (at a good price) is because it has to meet the regulations of every regulatory agency there possibly is. Each US State, each Province, each Country. The coverage is suspect, the coverages are low, the medical is secondary, and the medical does not waive pre-existing conditions for the travelers in question nor the non traveling family members that 3rd party travel insurance does. Also doesn't cover 3rd party default. (The river cruise company going bankrupt. Why? There's no 3rd party. You bought the insurance thru the first party) Back to your question. The only reason I use a TA is because my wife made friends with one. I still book the cruise and then we transfer it over to the TA so she can make a buck or 2. I book all of our air travel. Booking your air thru the cruise line means you're getting consolidated air tickets. The terms and conditions can be vastly different than what you buy direct from the airline. I book my hotels on my own. I book separate excursions. (except maybe in your case on a river cruise where the excursions are included.)
  5. I believe that Carnivals insurance does include job constraints as a covered reason. I believe that you have to get 2 signatures from officers of the company. Then again, insurance is to cover unscheduled events and you must be able to travel on the day it is purchased. Now that it is out there on the world wide web that you have not purchased the insurance yet AND you know that some people have been told they can't travel due to work, your claim should be denied. Insurance companies don't stay in business by not investigating.
  6. Sounds very frustrating. Sounds to me like you've been very patient. The only thing I can think of is: 1. File a claim with your travel insurance under Trip Interruption. 2. Go to your State Attorney Generals website to file a complaint against Royal. I would also file a complaint to the Florida State Attorney General 3. Social Media (TikTok, FB, YouTube, Threads) has had very good corporate response to viral videos. 4. Contact a consumer advocacy group like Elliott.
  7. I just saw her IG post that she lost her grandmother whom she loved very much. I think I’d give her a pass on this one.
  8. I see. I guess if what that family is choosing to do goes against your customs and culture, then THEY must be the backwards logic ones. THEY are wrong and infringing on YOUR rights. I can see how we got where we are AGAIN!
  9. Don't have an exact answer. I would think it may depend on if you purchased this from the cruise line, or if you had a 3rd party policy. My negative Nancy mind though tells me that by not seeing the medical doctor on the ship, you've given the insurance an open-ended invitation to deny any claim. Hope I'm wrong but I'm still on my first cup of coffee, so my positive side isn't awake yet.
  10. During our Anthem cruise this past October, we received a letter from the Loyalty Ambassador indicating they were out. Had us fill out a request to have it shipped to us. Haven’t heard anything since.
  11. I hope you are 110% correct about this. Admittedly, I'm not familiar with Seven Corners Annual plans. The plans I'm familiar with, the "trip" begins at 12:01AM on the day you walk out of your front door and ends on the day you walk back into your front door. Therefore, the example of B2B is 1 trip. Unless, of course, you live close enough to port that you can run by the house, check the mail, do a load of laundry, then get back to the ship maybe. Anybody please feel free to correct me if I'm mistaken. Never too old to learn something new.
  12. Are we to assume this was booked via Fly2Fun?
  13. Oh no. I understand you weren’t directing your comment to me. I was just sharing that a policy that’s only $38 can be a good policy if it fits your needs. I understood that the OP wasn’t concerned about covering the whole trip but was more concerned about medical which is how I also cover my trips.
  14. I'm a Bonvoy member, so I try to stay at Marriott properties. I'm just a little confused about these 2 properties and am hoping for clarity and some insite. Both of these properties are located at 1717 Broadway in NYC. (Corner of Broadway and 54th). How can this be? We will be choosing one or the other for our pre-cruise stay next year (Dec) for 3 or 4 nights. Please help me understand how 2 hotels can be at 1 address. Any recommendations for 1 over the other? Thanks
  15. Trick question that has no answer. IF you have a valid claim under the Terms and Conditions AND You submit all the required documentation requested. THEN You will have a much easier time with you claim with any company. Are there outlier situations. As with anything else in life, Yes. A good basic 101 travel insurance site to start with a good FAQ page would be here Travel Insurance Frequently Asked Questions « Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com) I have had a claim denied before, but that was because I was trying to claim for something that wasn't covered. I've had 2 other successful claims.
  16. Just sharing my info with you GeezerCouple. My policy only cost $35pp when I buy mine from Steve. The main reason being I only need to cover the medical. I risk the comprehensive part but still maintain a small portion of it by having a trip cost of $500pp.
  17. In case OP is not, here is a great Basic 101 FAQ site Travel Insurance Frequently Asked Questions « Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com)
  18. Unless the policy you are looking at and/or NY State requires you to, AND you're not concerned about pre-existing medical conditions for you or non-traveling family members, you don't have to cover the entire cost of the trip. I work with a well known broker and I only cover $500 pp of my trip. I "risk" the cost of the cruise if I have to cancel. What I can't risk, is the possible medical expenses. The cost of the cruise won't bankrupt me. The medical could cause financial hardship. By doing it this way, I save on insurance costs and I still receive the $100K in "primary" medical coverage.
  19. They are asking for your total trip costs that are non-refundable. Trip costs could include hotel (if you go the nonrefundable way), airline travel costs ( here, just remember that some airlines will give you a credit towards future travel. In this case, the insurance will claim that this future travel credit is your reimbursement.) Also, ensure that your travel dates begin the day you walk out the door to begin your trip and ends when you walk back into the house. Not just the cruise dates.
  20. Hey, if you are in a financial situation where you can and want to spend $2600 for a cabana, then you go for it. Don't worry about what these budget bunnies say. It's your money you're spending not theirs. Enjoy it while you can.
  21. I've sailed on Carnival and Royal for multiple cruises and the OBC provided by my TA has NEVER showed until we boarded the ship. It's always been there within a couple of hours, usually immediately upon boarding.
  22. I enjoy AI's as much as a cruise. Sometimes more, sometimes less. My only feedback would be to double check and ask yourself, Do I really need the rental car. I say this for a few reasons and mostly due to safety. Rules of the road are different in Mexico. Rules of liability are very different. Rules of insurance are very different also. I can't say for sure in your instance but $280 looks to good to be true. Many times, the quotes you receive for a car rental in Mexico include no insurance when in fact it's mandatory. They then add the required insurance at the desk when you go to pick up the car and the price balloons above the budgeted amount. Also, where do you plan on driving to? Are there other alternatives to that destination. Refueling the car is different in Mexico also. You cannot refuel your own car and gas stations have been known to rip off tourists at the gas station by not resetting the pump to 0, etc.
  23. Of course, connectivity also depends on where the access points are located. On my Anthem cruise (in a GS), there was an access point in my cabin. Have heard that on the newer ships that access points are in all cabins. However, in many of the older ships the access points are still in the hallways and depending on your cabin location, connectivity can be affected.
  24. I assume you're asking if the walls are made of a ferrous material that magnets will stick to. Could you imagine the excitement if they were actually magnetic? 🤯
  25. Unfortunately, I've heard this story too many times. Just like medical insurance companies making you jump thru hoops to get pre-authorization approval or even pharmaceutical managers denying a medication that your doctor has prescribed, deny, deny, play the waiting game, follow the money. Travel insurance can be just as frustrating. Sometimes even a very simple claim for a hotel/trip interruption claims for $100 can take 90 to 180 days. I feel your pain. A couple of options 1. Reach out to Steve at TripInsuranceStore. He may have some advice for you, or he may have better contacts at IMG that he can pursue. 2. Every State in the Union has an Insurance Commissioner. File a complaint with them and get them involved. Your profile doesn't list your location, or I'd provide a link. Just google "[my state] insurance commission complaint form" and a good link should come up.
