  1. Just a thought. Is the price increase possibly due to you may have crossed an age threshold?
  2. I don't think anything in this world is the same as it was pre-covid. I'm not the same now as I was then. Families are not the same now as they were then. The entire world took a huge gut punch when Covid hit. We learned a lot about ourselves, our families, our friends, our co-workers, the companies we work for, and more. Some changes have been good, some changes need to be re-evaluated and some of these changes are generational in time.
  3. I used Fly2Fun once. Saved $250 over what I could have booked on my own. Once I booked, I realized my 5 hour travel day turned into a 14 hour travel day. Never again for domestic anyways. Once I use up my miles, I may consider cruise line travel for any international travel I may still do. I still have 500K miles to use up.
  4. While waiting for Fly2Fun to come back up, have you at least researched what flights would cost along with flight times, departure and arrival so you have some comparison data?
  5. Without a doubt
  6. My wife and I sailed this past October out of Southampton. We were definitely in the minority being Americans. How could they tell? By the way we spoke, by our mannerisms, and by the way we used our utensils while eating. Did it hinder our interactions with others? The opposite actually. We talked about our similarities and our differences with genuine curiosity and respect. There may be times when people will notice you may be a novice when it comes to cruising but they will want to help you if needed rather than mock your inexperience. Go into this as an adventure.
  7. I’d risk it probably. What an experience it could be. as far as the vendor goes, I can understand their situation. It is a private charter. If you don’t show, they’ve lost all opportunities to do business that day. Did the insurance you purchase give you the opportunity to recoup any losses?
  8. Either way, you're going to have to file a claim with Royal if she decides to file an insurance claim for the lost/stolen/misplaced piece of jewelry. The insurance company will require the official claim denial from Royal that the piece couldn't be located with the insurance claim. They'll also require a copy of the original receipt from when it was purchased. And then, the insurance for lost jewelry is limited at $500.
  9. If you are referencing the OP's original question about Carnivals Vacation Protection Insurance, their policy is secondary coverage for medical and has no waiver for pre-existing conditions for the travelers or the non-traveling family members.
  10. I can only give my experience. This past fall we did a cruise out of Southampton. We flew into London and spent a week in a nice little flat in Westminster right next to St. James Park. For my wife and I, Paris has never been on our bucket list. But, being from the US, and Paris being a 2 hour train ride away, we felt it would be foolish not to at least do a drive by. That's what we did. We got up early one morning, took the tube up to St. Pancras, jumped on the Eurostar and when to Paris for about 36 hours. I was able to purchase my Metro tickets for the Paris subway on the train in the cafe. Jumped on the metro, checked into the hotel, then hit a few of the touristy attractions. Had a great overall visit. Probably will never go to Paris again but have some great pics and some great memories.
  11. Get the Best Trip Insurance Details, Advice (tripinsurancestore.com) But call them so they can help you find the policy that best meets your needs
  12. I would imagine that it will take some time. Especially if the corporate lawyers get involved. Which they should in this instance.
  13. The link I provided let me make a booking for December 29th. I didn't complete the booking. I just filled out the request up to the credit card info then backed out. At no point did it tell me that I couldn't make the reservation.
  14. If Royal is not doing the excursion? You can expect that they will refund your money. Good news though. You can cancel the Royal excursion and book yourself thru various means. The hang up is that you would have to get yourself to and from the Paradise Island Ferry Terminal. If you were to do this, the island will be much less crowded, and you'd have a better time. Just manage your time appropriately. (Assuming the cruise lines have not started selling this excursion yet) Blue Lagoon Island Beach Day | Bahamas Tour Center
  15. Thanks for the clarification Steve. I now have a better understanding. To voljeep, I misspoke and I hope I didn't lead you down the wrong path.
  16. I hope you're correct, but I don't see how. If coverage doesn't begin until 10/31 and accident happens on 10/25, why would that be a covered event? Maybe @iamtrustworthy can chime in to help me better understand.
  17. FOLLOW-UP Our crystal block arrived today via FedEx.
  18. May I suggest that as you find some free time that you go back to that brokers site and read thru the FAQ section. You’ll be amazed at how much you can learn and better understand what IS covered, how to ensure you file a claim properly if necessary, and more importantly, what is NOT covered.
  19. Is that a US thing? A Carnival thing? This past October I used electronic boarding passes to board the Royal Anthem of the Seas in Southampton.
  20. You probably need to invoke the Cancel For Any Reason provision of the policy. That would only provide you with a percentage of the cruise policy. Everything else regarding the medical costs etc are on you. Policy coverage doesn't begin until the day you board the ship.
  21. "When to buy Carnival Vacation Protection insurance" The answer is NEVER! Why? The medical coverage is secondary. No pre-existing conditions coverage for the travelers or sometimes more importantly the non-traveling family members. The medical limit is woefully low at $20K. Coverage is for the time period of the cruise only. If you fly in a day or 2 early, or extend the vaca by a day or so, you're on your own. The ONLY thing I can say positive about cruise line policy is that it includes Cancel For Any Reason and the price is not age dependent. Personally, I use a broker who offers travel policies from 9 different companies. Cost the consumer nothing, they get paid commission by the insurance companies. My broker is https://tripinsurancestore.com but there are others also like insuremytrip.com
  22. Never, ever, under any circumstances book your travel insurance thru your travel provider. That insurance that they provide (at a good price) is because it has to meet the regulations of every regulatory agency there possibly is. Each US State, each Province, each Country. The coverage is suspect, the coverages are low, the medical is secondary, and the medical does not waive pre-existing conditions for the travelers in question nor the non traveling family members that 3rd party travel insurance does. Also doesn't cover 3rd party default. (The river cruise company going bankrupt. Why? There's no 3rd party. You bought the insurance thru the first party) Back to your question. The only reason I use a TA is because my wife made friends with one. I still book the cruise and then we transfer it over to the TA so she can make a buck or 2. I book all of our air travel. Booking your air thru the cruise line means you're getting consolidated air tickets. The terms and conditions can be vastly different than what you buy direct from the airline. I book my hotels on my own. I book separate excursions. (except maybe in your case on a river cruise where the excursions are included.)
  23. I believe that Carnivals insurance does include job constraints as a covered reason. I believe that you have to get 2 signatures from officers of the company. Then again, insurance is to cover unscheduled events and you must be able to travel on the day it is purchased. Now that it is out there on the world wide web that you have not purchased the insurance yet AND you know that some people have been told they can't travel due to work, your claim should be denied. Insurance companies don't stay in business by not investigating.
  24. Sounds very frustrating. Sounds to me like you've been very patient. The only thing I can think of is: 1. File a claim with your travel insurance under Trip Interruption. 2. Go to your State Attorney Generals website to file a complaint against Royal. I would also file a complaint to the Florida State Attorney General 3. Social Media (TikTok, FB, YouTube, Threads) has had very good corporate response to viral videos. 4. Contact a consumer advocacy group like Elliott.
  25. I just saw her IG post that she lost her grandmother whom she loved very much. I think I’d give her a pass on this one.
