  1. For later flights Regent normally offers a complementary HO-HO bus tour, which includes luggage storage and airport transfer.
  2. We have had notice of cancelled excursions in GeorgeTown on the Splendor December cruise, with no alternatives available. The Cayman port schedule still shows Splendor there on December 22 and January 19, which is the same as the Regent itineraries. Maybe an issue with the shore excursion operators?
  3. When you click on the day it gives you the price, time and a brief description of the class on offer. You can then add it to your "cart" and check-out in a similar way that you would when booking excursions
  4. I was not previously aware that there were laws and rules covering luggage labels 🤔 Something new I have learnt today. Thank you.
  5. Well it appears that Regent(UK) has definitely ceased sending out full document packs in the mail to their UK customers. Everything now done on line apart from a letter from Regent(UK) with 6 paper "airline style" luggage tags 🙂 ; as @BriaBrewer reported in posts #101 & 105 Not quite the "wow" factor of the previous document packs we used to receive, but at least it will save us having to locate someone with luggage tags at the port, or resorting to diy, as had been reported by other UK Regent guests earlier this year 🤨 Not quite sure why Regent has decided to treat guests either side of the pond differently 🤔
  6. Champagne & caviar is available every Sunday breakfast on all Regent ships, whether in port or at sea. I assume the OP was referring to the OTT brunch sometimes held on Sunday sea days in Compass Rose on Splendor & Explorer.
  7. Just planning the details of specific day on a future cruise and wondered if anyone could tell us the duration of the cooking classes on Splendor. We are looking at a morning class (10am) on a day when the ship does not dock until midday. We are trying to decide how long we might have between finishing the class and going ashore for an afternoon excursion. We participated in a very enjoyable class on Explorer a few years ago but cannot remember how long it was. Hope those who have done a class recently, or who have better memories, can help 🙂
  8. Many (most?) of the bathrooms on Mariner were converted some time ago to shower only; with the walk in shower occupying all the space formerly occupied by the shower/tub combo. The shower only suites are designated with an asterisk on the deck plans and are preferred by many guests, ourselves included. Sorry you did not enjoy your cruise.
  9. I see that the website pricing has now reverted to a full list without having to click on "view details". Thank you @Mike Moore for noting and acting on the feedback from various guests 🙂 👍
  10. Yes I remember we made the same comment. Frank del Rio's only criteria for choice appeared to be size & colour; maybe he assumed price determined the quality 😉 The best wall decoration for us on Explorer is the excellent variety of vintage photographs on the passenger accommodation decks 🙂
  11. Unfortunately it appears that benefits to UK guests (particularly regarding cancellation penalties) of on-board bookings has altered this year. The following from a recent Regent(UK) invoice: ONBOARD BOOKINGS MADE ON OR BEFORE 31 DECEMBER 2021: Deposit values, cancellation and amendment fees differ to our standard UK Terms. Your deposit is refundable outside the 151/121 days prior to sailing date subject to a ÂŖ50 per person administrative fee. You may transfer your voyage date and deposit one-time outside the 151/121 days prior to sailing. ONBOARD BOOKINGS MADE FROM 01 JANUARY 2022: Deposit values, differ to our standard UK Terms. Payment & cancellation terms follow the standard UK Terms. You may transfer your voyage date and deposit one-time outside of final payment terms (90 days prior to sailing). Also we spotted this invoice clause that we do not recall seeing before: WAITLIST BOOKINGS: From date of clearance, guests have 48 hours to cancel without penalty. If the cleared waitlist booking is not cancelled within this 48-hour period, normal cancellation fees will apply.
  12. Regent have just released an interesting itinerary (with included pre or post cruise landtour) for December 2024: https://www.rssc.com/cruises/VOY241201/summary Only the one stop, Nosy Be, in Madagascar unfortunately.
  13. Here is a blog from a similar itinerary in 2018 https://boards.cruisecritic.com/topic/2609622-explorer-lisbon-to-cape-town-nov-28-until-dragged-kicking-screaming-off/
  14. Slight change to the Regent UK Ts&Cs regarding cancellation penalties for cruises booked from January 2022 onwards: - Deposit date up to 350 days prior to departure: ÂŖ500 per person - 349 to 90 Days prior: 20% of Fare [Loss of deposit] then increasing penalties closer to sailing date. Now that we are starting to cruise again (🤞), we will try to make bookings on board, or 30 days prior, in order to benefit from less onerous conditions which are applied to on board bookings.

  16. Stugeron (Cinnarizine) tablets are our go-to. Take them if rough seas are forecast. No remedies help if you are already feeling unwell.
  17. I am sure you would love the Regent experience which is certainly not stuffy. However, booking a world cruise on a cruise line and ship that you have not experienced sounds like a risky venture. The 2024 Regent WC is waitlisted for many of the suite grades and there is a price rise forecast on October 1st, so worth deciding soon. The WC is on Mariner; an excellent ship. The basic suites are small by Regent standards. We prefer a PH or Horizon suite on that ship. Also many guests prefer the shower-only suites on Mariner as the tub/shower combos are somewhat awkward. Best wishes for your cruise planning and hope you find a booking that suits.
  18. On SuiteGuru there is a recent review of an Explorer deck 14 PH. Deck 14 on Splendor & Explorer is nicely secluded, but the balconies are shallower than on some of the lower decks
  19. It could be anytime up until checking in at the embarkation port. Sometimes earlier but not always.
  20. It appears that you were misled; perhaps someone made an incorrect assumption. Valet laundry & pressing is included for all guests; and self serve laundry rooms, equipped with washers driers & irons, are also available.
  21. We enjoy the relaxing sea days on a TransAtlantic crossing. As others have said, there are plenty of indoor and outdoor events organised. We particularly like the daily officers v guests challenges (deck shuffleboard, baggo etc) Note that on eastbound TransAtlantic cruises you lose time; westbound you gain time 🙂
  22. I have often wondered about the "unattended" clause in travel insurance policies. Are any of the following scenarios covered? - checked luggage goes missing while in the care of an airline - luggage handed over to port or cruise line employees when joining or leaving a ship (Staysure obviously feel that this is not covered) - luggage handed over to a hotel concierge to carry to/from hotel room - luggage handed over to a hotel concierge for temporary storage If it is felt that the Insurance company is acting unreasonably over a claim then a formal complaint should be made
  23. I doubt it A suite near the launderette can be handy if you want to pop in to rinse some delicates or iron out some creases. We have never found any problems with noise near the launderettes and, with valet laundry & pressing now included for all guests, the traffic is very light. Your choice, but most locations on Splendor will be fine. Check the balcony depth as some are shallower than others. Also worth looking at suite reviews for Explorer as the ships are virtually identical.
  24. On our pre Christmas cruise on Explorer in 2018, it was on December 10, with each hotel department responsible for decorating their area of the ship. The entertainment team took care of the big tree in the atrium: Yes, some special and traditional dishes (but no haggis ☚ī¸). Plus of course a party leading up to midnight on New Year's Eve. In our experience the Holiday cruises have a special atmosphere on board.
