  1. (Note to self.. Vigie Beach has Portaloos for $1.00 charge, or walk to the nearby Airport and back for free, as many do) As an aside. One’s personal opinions. Rodney Bay is very popular and becomes sardine city when describing the sun bed setups. Plus there is a large inflatable water adventure playground a short distance offshore. Not a genteel experience and views can be thought spoilt. Think Valley Church Antigua or Cane Garden Bay Tortola with toys. Pigeon Island is also a “rows” sun bed setup, again popular. Good views with a nice Restaurant nearby, but the whole beach experience has its “buts”. Think Darkwood on Antigua. They both don’t come close to beating NF when it comes to variety of beds, ambiance, views, food, drinks and beach service. Think along the lines of Catherine’s or Cecilia's. Genteel. If on a subsequent visit, one wishes to spend the day at Smuggler’s Bay (Naked Fisherman) taking an all inclusive option, for the day or a multiple day vacation. Then consider Cap Maison. (NF is part of the resort with access by general public) https://capmaison.com. - Note the similarities between respective websites But, it’s one’s money, therefore it can be spent as one wishes.
  2. Plenty of taxis from there, as there is an upmarket resort next door. When ready to return, ask NS to call one. The taxi will be there in minutes.
  3. 6000 pax, then Vigie will be rammed, as it’s the cheapest destination ($10 for a cab ride or a free walk in 15/20 minutes). Because of the low spend option, Vigie is ‘the’ destination for S.H.T.. If wishing somewhere quiet, in a beautiful setting, for a couple of hours or so, then suggest a shortish picturesque drive North to The Naked Fisherman. Take drinks, or even a light Brunch/Lunch, a swim and return to the ship. No S.H.T. will be seen. Link https://nakedfishermanstlucia.com
  4. All taxis within the port area are official, vetted, licensed and prices registered by Government. So, the best option would be go to the Cab Dispatcher (at the Cab Rank in side the port area), discuss your itinerary, as every highlight one selects determines the price, because all tours are based on distance/time etc.. Confident one will get to see the beauty of this island, as the Despatcher is knowledgeable, also being happy to deliver the best possible price/ratio tour.
  5. All published fares are per cab - up to 4 pax - plus tip.
  6. Sympathise with one’s selection problem, Catherine’s, Sheer Rocks or Cecelia’s. Decisions, decisions….
  7. @WisCruiser2 Just remembered… There is a Day Pass for “Beds”…. Think this is the site one was possibly searching for. https://catherines-cafe.com/summer-day-passes-and-specials/
  8. One personal thoughts… The easiest thing to do would be to send a missive to BL asking for an update and current photographs.
  9. Drop offs are caused by weather/sea conditions, which are unpredictable. Good beach on one day, drop off the next. If one is having Beach concerns, then suggest a booking at Sheer Rocks, which does not have a beach, where excellent packages are available for a day at the communal pool, up to a special “Couples Pool”. Check out their website.
  10. Beds, loungers and all facilities are only for paying patrons taking food/drinks, for which there was no charge. Book one’s lunch/drinks/day in advance.
  11. It is customary for the individual to do only what they feel comfortable with. (The chatter on this site regarding tipping will never change a persons entrenched mindset) Maybe zero, it could be $2/5 for drinks only, $5/10 for drinks/light food (Breakfast) or $10/20 when multi course dining in the evening. It’s one’s money, do whatever one wishes. Personally believe in the thought of “what goes around……” A gratuity will be appreciated in Legal Tender of US$ or €
  12. SR does not have a beach, as it’s perched on the same cliff as Coco Beach Resort which has, but suppose one can walk back through the resort to use the sea, if so wished, just to swim. But never had the need, so no snorkel knowledge.
  13. Ships used to have a Golf Cart service for those with limited walking ability. Paid for by the Line. It travelled from the Ship to the shopping areas etc., including the Cab Rank. Then when a returning pax required the Cart, the Cab Captain/Dispatcher called for it. A small gratuity was always appreciated. Best to check with RCL if this very welcomed service is still available.
  14. S.H.T. Is still S.H.T., regardless of a salary level, albeit crew or pax. Financial standing, or lack of it, has no relevance when it comes to S.H.T.
  15. No idea… But Palm Court Gardens did not charge an admission fee for Ship Crew. It proved to be very popular.

    Hotels

Yes, a small basic, no frills, hotel that offers bnb, but it’s clean and comfortable. Some are in great positions inside OSJ. For one night after long travels, many appreciate they are ideal for somewhere to just crash and sleep, To assist- Ideas https://www.booking.com/searchresults.en-gb.html?aid=356983&label=gog235jc-1DCAMYkwQouQFCCHNhbi1qdWFuSAlYA2hQiAEBmAEJuAEHyAEN2AED6AEB-AECiAIBqAIDuALRgcqpBsACAdICJDY4ZWE0NGFiLTg1YzktNGM1Mi04NDY0LWU2M2U5ZDA1NTAwNtgCBOACAQ&sid=968340718b1ea8de464724b793cf3b20&city=20154335;nflt=sth%3D98;pptfromtl=23;src=theme_landing_city
  17. As an aside…. While there, have a look inside their own brand Boutique for a great selection of quality Beach Accessories. DW picked up a couple of their Sail Bags for the Beach, one round and a deeper traditional. So different so useful.
  18. Is one enquiring for when Seaweed can appear on a beach in St Martin? Seaweed is washed up during periods of inclement weather, hurricanes, rain storms etc., or strong tidal flows, which can occur between June and November. Outside these months Seaweed can occasionally appear, because of weather conditions. Its nature, and nobody can exactly predict the workings in advance, as metrological conditions can change daily or hourly.
  19. Poite Seraphine could with a missive to info@pointeseraphine.com
  20. As a quick rule of thumb, to convert ECDollars to USDollars - Divide ECD by 2 - Then deduct 20% = USD
  21. From Catherine’s, allow an extra 15 minutes to be so very safe
  22. Okay, have a friend who gave this piece of Caribbean advice. If in doubt about food and wish to still spread a few dollars. Buy beer and rum, then tip well. It works! The enormous smiles of recipients are heart warming. What goes around…..
  23. A number of years ago the public (beach) toilets were acceptable, but the bars were much cleaner and would value one’s custom. The public ones may have been upgraded since.
  24. Addendum The Rock Pool Day recommended is the one for sold for “Couples”. There are excellent alternatives at a lower price point.
