  1. Thanks for the explanation John. It is a shame the photos get disabled, but at least he can now settle down and read the thread and not spend ages trying to figure out what is wrong with his computer. Cheers, h.
  2. @Copper10-8 I have been following your thread from the beginning and directed my SO to it as I thought he would enjoy the technical aspect as well as your photos. Unfortunately the photos for the first few pages (up to Victoria) are now showing a broken image logo and banks of multi photos after Victoria are mixed available and unavailable. I, when initially following could see all images, now I can't. We have tried PC and Mac plus safari, chrome, edge etc to no avail. Any idea what is happening and are we alone in this? (Individual photos posted by others on this thread are showing on all pages.) Cheers, h
  3. @Vict0riann have you thought of taking John and his child bride to Spinnakers which is quite close but out of the busy down town area or, in Cordova Bay, (may be too much of a drive) The Beach House. Both nice places close to the water. https://www.spinnakers.com/drink/our-menu/ https://www.beachhousevictoria.com/about-us Sorry, I am another follower not poster but I thought as another Victoria resident I may be able to help. Cheers, h.
  4. How about something more like this. A legging skirt but not quite so gym looking. I love my short legging skirts but wouldn't wear one touring a major European city - but that's just me, you do you. Cheers, h. oops sorry the pic is so big
  5. You are fine with your credit card in the UK. I spend a couple of months a year there and for most things just using the tap option on my credit card. This includes small buys, bus fares, lunches and sandwich shops. As you are in Canada you probably don’t have a credit card that requires a signature which is good as the UK and most of Europe are much more pin and chip oriented. Tipping in pubs, the odd £ or 2 is one of the only times I use actual cash. (I’ll pay by card then throw cash in the tip jar. Not a % tip like N America). Cheers, h.
  6. You booked during a double points promo, congrats. Cheers, h.
  7. Wonder is docking 3:00 am Port Canaveral Webcam - A Cape Canaveral Cruise Ship Web Cam
  8. That was the Harmony of the Seas doing a medical evacuation. She is just departing. HotS requested the med evac about an hour after leaving port, it has taken about 2 hrs from notification to exiting the port. Cheers, h.
  9. Thanks for the interesting review and comments. If anyone wishes to pass on the information for your cabin, creaking etc, why not fill in the information in the thread below. @verizon thought this may interest you. Cheers, h 🥂
  10. I think what people are missing is that Canada did not drop the Covid testing when boarding a cruise, and 10 day isolation, when disembarking positive, until the beginning of October. (Announced on 26/09/22) These restrictions had been in place the whole of the recommencement of cruising in Canada. Anyone boarding, disembarking, then immediately re-boarding for a second cruise has to follow the host country, not the cruise line, rules and regs. As Celebrity sells all cruises as individual voyages, even when doing a B2B (or any combination of), the Canadian regs had to be followed by Celebrity. Why there was any talk on board, by Celebrity or cruisers, about not being tested for re-boarding for the 2nd cruise I have no idea. It wasn't an option, one had to be tested, and if positive denied boarding, and even if disembarking/re-embarking follow the Canadian guidelines for cruises. Celebrity had no option on this as they don't offer cruises as continuous cruises with the option of sailing segments. If Celebrity had offered a continuous cruise and a 3 segment cruise option, if taking the continuous cruise, one would have had the option of staying on board when testing positive as then the Canadian stop would have been a port of call with segment cruisers disembarking/embarking. I do think the lack of communication by Celebrity has been abysmal, as it has been with most other cruise lines, but I also think a lot of cruisers/travelers focus on the big picture (Canada was only the embarkation/disembarkation port, most ports of call were in the USA so more of a focus) and miss some of the finer details (Canada's cruising rules and regs hadn't changed; the USA's had). Repatriation unless written into a contract is probably something that ones insurance is responsible for. Cruise lines, early in the recommencement of cruising, did offer various iterations of repatriation but over time, as travel has eased, they have, with rare exception (I say this but can't think of one), dropped this. I do think cruise lines have been less than open/communicative with their Covid responses and that is one of the main reasons I have chosen not to cruise up to this point. I can keep up with both (multi country) government and cruise line written rules and regs; I can't anticipate any cruise ships individual response. Cheers, h.
  11. The positive now is that we will have some days to see what Oahu has to offer AND we are flying to Kauai for some days there😎 So it’s more to come🤩🥳🥰 I do hope this means you will keep us updated on your stay in Oahu 🏝️ and Kauai 🏄‍♂️. I have really enjoyed you, the Mr 👫, and your quirky sense of humour😊. Cheers, h ☕ & 🍺
  12. Hi, @Scooter girl 58, a while ago I added a link about tendering on an Edge class ship to this thread. hope it helps you. Cheers, h
  13. In the link @CurlerRob gave above note that in a drop down it states:- "Cruises that are staying in Canadian waters or not returning to Canada All travellers are required to take a pre-embarkation COVID-19 test before embarking on a cruise in Canada, even if the cruise ship is not leaving Canadian waters Travellers who are staying within Canada throughout their entire journey or who are leaving Canada and not returning don’t have to complete ArriveCAN." @traveling teacher2010, you are boarding in Canada then leaving Canada with no return stops therefore you don't need to fill out ArriveCAN for the cruise. You do need ArriveCAN if you are entering Canada to board your cruise. Vaccination requirement as above. Cheers, h.
  14. @Vict0riann the link you have posted is dated 2022 06 07. Here is the most recent I can find dated 2022 08 18 (dates at the very bottom of the page) https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/cruise NB: there may be an update I haven't found. Unfortunately older iterations are not removed as soon as new guidelines are published, nor are they always found following the same links. Frustrating at times. Cheers, h
  15. @KDance, try your question on this board (below). There is also a very long thread at the top dedicated to travelling with a service dog. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/114-disabled-cruise-travel/ Cheers, h.
  16. Smoking areas on Solstice Class 20 August 2022. Copied from this thread.
  17. Celebrity have had a similar 'sticky' thread since 2019 if anyone wishes to see how it works. There are still individual posts on the topic but probably not as many as there could be. Cheers, h.
  18. It's a Limonia AKA a crane fly. That is the first time I remembered to use Google Lens to identify something in a picture. Cheers, h.🥂 (A silent but appreciative follower)
  19. https://travel.gc.ca/travel-covid/travel-restrictions/cruise Latest regs from Canada 2022 08 12. 'Starting an international cruise in Canada or arriving by cruise from another country These requirements apply to cruises: arriving in Canada from a foreign country starting in Canada, but travelling outside Canadian waters and then returning to Canada (for example, if docking in the United States for a shore excursion) All travellers are required to: complete ArriveCAN no more than 72 hours of initially boarding the cruise. This includes: any traveller who recently submitted ArriveCAN to enter Canada via land or air Canadians embarking on an international cruise from Canada that will return to Canada take a pre-embarkation COVID-19 test before embarking on a cruise ship that will dock in Canada at any point in the itinerary If you’re exempt from the vaccination requirements, you must also take a COVID-19 antigen test on the day you board the cruise ship, in addition to taking a pre-embarkation test. The test must be negative. This applies to travellers who aren’t fully vaccinated for: medical reasons or sincere religious reasons, or those 5 years of age or older and under 12 years of age. Note: If you’re a foreign national and aren’t fully vaccinated due to a sincere religious belief, you won’t be allowed to enter to Canada by land or air to board a cruise. You also won’t be allowed to disembark a cruise in Canada, unless it is for a medical emergency.' Cheers, h.
  20. This is the Celebrity E class ships. Of course conditions could make this less than ideal if there are steps etc at the dock. Sorry I have no personal experience, just thought it would be worth showing you an option. Here is a link highlighting the ship's accessibility. https://spintheglobe.net/dir/2019/01/24/wheelchair-accessible-celebrity-edge/ Cheers, h.
  21. Canada ended pre-entry testing April 1 2022. One does still need to fill out the ArriveCAN app pre-entry. Also - The ArriveCAN app my be needed pre-boarding, depending on if you re-enter Canada. (check Canada's websites) One does need a covid test pre-embarkation. (check Canada's web sites) Cheers, h.
  22. Princess does exemptions cruise by cruise so even if you have been denied one cruise you may get an exemption for your next cruise. However, Canada (at this point in time) has strict entry requirements and they do override the Princess exemption, even if it is just a port stop. Just saying if you are applying for an exemption for a cruise that enters Canada start working on a Canada exemption at the same time you start working in a Princess exemption. cheers, h. Oops, sorry I realise I have strayed a bit but thought the Canada heads up may be useful for those travelling in that direction thinking a cruise ship exemption was all that was needed.
  23. The Coral docked in Brisbane about 35 min ago. Noon Sunday the 24th (AEST) Boarding to start after 5:30pm.
  24. @elmsliebev, so glad you enjoyed Victoria, my adoptive city. As a Lancashire lass (north Manchester- think Corrie) I can still walk through certain areas of the city and clearly remember how awe inspiring it was many years ago as a newly arrived 20yo with a toddler on my hip. I have been following your travels on the Cunard board. What A great itinerary you have. Cheers, h 🥂
