  1. Perhaps I was not fully functioning earlier. If you are not Platinum or Elite in Captain's Circle, then you should not be able to make dining reservations in DMW until you have made final payment (which you can do early). Now this has not been the case on all voyages for all guests as several have reported in this forum being able to use DMW prior to final payment. In theory, that should also affect SD reservations since you book SD locations using DMW. The fact that DMW wants to charge you and not recognize you have two free meals would seem a different issue, but perhaps it is tied to the wait period. It sounds like the phone rep was trying to tell you about not being able to make dining res prior to final payment. Who knows what the bugs really are in DMW?
  2. Not a cruise, but we will be by water on Eclipse Day. The north-eastern shoreline of Lake Erie is in the total direct path and has the longest totality period in the vicinity and less than one hour drive from home. Looking forward to probably the only one like it we will experience in our life time. Like many members on here, most of my years are behind me and not in front of me - LOL.
  3. Sounds odd to me - even for Princess. ?
  4. Yes, this is sadly true. All of the Royal Class ships have similar lack of real shade. The best shaded Sanctuaries are on Ruby, Emerald, Crown, Caribbean and probably you can add in Grand, Sapphire and Diamond into the mix.
  5. The gauze overhead "sails" do not provide much shield from the sun.
  6. And what do you suppose the chances are of getting a rep on the phone who has not only been on a ship in question, but also attended the Sanctuary?
  7. The OP will only pay half-price for internet. $28.50 before beverages. Each guest needs to have a pretty good idea of what beverages per day, plus any of the other included items are of value to them. It's best IMO to look at a couple combined (or guest 1 & 2 in the cabin) in order to make an assessment.
  8. Sounds like you are getting a handle on it by now.
  9. Just ask to hold the items you don't want. Hold the candy, suckers, cake, and whatever else, leave you with gelato and perhaps some sauce if that is okay.
  10. Yahbut... all the Deluxes and Minis can sleep at least 3, correct?
  11. I suggest you go on Princess.com and re-read the page on the cruise packages and what is included. Then, read what is included in the Plus beverage package. It almost sounds like you guys do not need a package at all. You didn't mention the length of your cruise. Also, how many port days and do you think you will be off the ship when it is in a port and therefore consuming less - or not? You sound interested in CA and Medallion Net (internet). These total $31/day/person. That leaves $29 for beverages. Do you think you will be ordering food and/or drink to your location when on the ship? This is the Ocean Now service which costs $15/voyage. That is $1.50 - $2/day depending on if your voyage is a week or 10 nights (approx). How much coffee are you going to drink in a day? Did you know you can order pack of 12 500ml water bottles for $7 - as long as you do it pre-cruise via Cruise Personalizer (see Onboard Services section). Also, the ship's water is just fine and most folks use it. You could order a pack of water and do refills. Ship's water is well treated. Up to you of course, but it reads like you have not fully grasped the cruise fare packages. Just figure out what you think you will use and spend. Divide it out over length of cruise and and see how close to $60 you get. Remember that every beverage ordered on the ship has 18% gratuity tacked on. ETA: Note that one of you could order Ocean Now a la carte and as long as that person does the ordering, you wouldn't both need it. Works if you are mostly together and not to good if doing own thing a lot. Also, the $29 left for beverages I mentioned--- I think of it as $58 for both of us combined and what would we spend together.
  12. Which ship and date? I see lots of cabins in November. How many guests are you trying to book in one cabin?
  13. They mean the cruise fare package. I don't think anyone experienced is going to be looking anywhere near the standalone drink packages.
  14. I understand but I would think they leave some safety leeway fudge-factor in there. I did a sea plot on a random website I came across using Google. Was it seaports.com - something similar. Anyway, the route plotted was not direct but did seem to go outside a lane I thought. There are some islands to go around at times such as north of Sicily. Anyway, I doubt the Captain would cut it that close.
  15. Seems odd to take off early with 1,000 workers on board if they could leave later and still make it. Opportunity to reduce workers before leaving. Thing is, we don't really know what's going on, but the 2.5 days approx appears to be the minimum.
  16. Right, so there is an occupation limit unless paying more for extras.
  17. Have you checked in the bid upgrade thread? (I have no information myself.)
  18. Looks like about 2.5 days. So, late afternoon on Feb 25 would be latest to put her into Civi by early morning on Feb 28. There would be no reason to stop anywhere since no passengers.
  19. To those wondering if the complaints and bashing should end, I imagine the trend of this thread will change as soon as the ship sails with passengers. It will be all about "What's it like?".
  20. Unless 2 of 4 are going to be using the sofa/sitting area inside, or rotate using lounger.
  21. I tried a few mock bookings and didn't see a note on each one, but did see a note on a couple. Maybe they are more warning guest that "limited use" may mean it can be uncomfortable to be out on a windy day (i.e. ship heading into the wind).
  22. I'd like to know where people are reading that the balcony door is locked on these forward cabins. It has been debunked here at least 50 times - maybe more.
  23. Are your flights on one ticket? If so, you cannot do what you are asking. If they are separate tickets, then you can. Other than domestic, I would not book an EzAir round trip ticket for this very reason.
  24. Not sure why info matters now, but you can count on Sep 16 and Oct 14 for 2 of the 5. I'd also wager on Oct 8 and one of Sep 26,27, Oct 1. The other might be Sep 22. With your voyage, they can all be on sea days and most likely will all be on sea days. It is also likely one or more will be labeled as Dress to Impress night(s). As mentioned above, the voyage activities schedule will inform you when it is populated. Just look for the formal photo opportunities.
