  1. It was stopped prior to Covid on some cruises. On others it did happen but no napkin waving, particularly if there was a concern over noro. It is decision made by Captain with medical team and restaurant staff on a case by case basis.
  2. All contracts can be broken by either party.
  3. Haven't been on a Saga ship. But, on all ships I have been on there are many muster stations, which is yours depends on where your cabin is. Anyway in a safety drill the lifts are not in use for getting to the muster station, as they wouldn't be used during a real emergency. Also, on some ships crew stairs, not normally accessible to passengers, are used.
  4. You state that you understand fluid pricing, but want to be told that prices can up and down! What do you think fluid pricing is?
  5. You need to change the title to Beware of Booking a P&O (or any other UK cruiseline) Cruise. What you discovered is nothing to do with booking on board. If you had booked online, or through a TA on the same day you would have got the same price.
  6. The claim form does not have a box to tick for Missed port. You need to tick the box for Missed departure. Can't explain it any clearer. That is what you have to do.
  7. By the accounts I've read the free one which, I also did a couple of many moons ago, is a very different affair from the three or four hour tour, including a special hosted high tea that this thread refers to.
  8. I know. I should have said it's included in the fare and not itemised separately as Americans do. But couldn't be bothered.
  9. P&O don't charge port fees (as American cruise lines do) so obviously they can't be claimed as you have not suffered a financial loss. Specialist cruise travel insurance (often an 'add on' to normal tavel insurance) may pay a fixed amount (depending on your cover) for Missed Ports. Does the Holiday Extras insurance include this? If it does that is the route to take. Tip: you need to claim for 'missed departure' as the standard claim forms don't (usually) have a box for Missed Ports.
  10. I read elsewhere (perhaps on here, maybe it was fb), that they are introducing filtered milk instead of the disgusting long life milk.
  11. I've never known anyone get one direct from P&O for years. I've had a short two or three question one about particular issues ("was it sorted to your satisfaction" sort of thing).
  12. Just like nurseries on land there is a ratio of adults to children required. No matter of cabins or berths if they can't get the staff qualified to deal with a particular age group they won't accept the booking. They need to have the capacity for all possible children in that age group even though a certain number will not go to the clubs.
  13. Do you mean the paper survey which used to appear in your cabin, more recently via email? They don't happen any more. Been outsourced to feefo who do random email shots.
  14. If you cancel the excursion within 48 hrs of date you pay the 10%. If they cancel the excursion you get full amount back. Another point is that it is cheaper to book prior to sailing than on board. Also it is a way to spread the cost. Re Flam (and other popular small ports), if several cruise ships are in port there is a real chance that all excursions will be block booked by the cruise lines. Therefore there will not be any seats for sale for independent bookers. If you really want to do something best to book it asap.
  15. Ooh I hope so. Long life milk is horrible in tea.
  16. On my last cruise one guest kept insisting that the after formal dinner chocolates had been made on board when obviously they were run of the mill high Street (think Thorntons post take over. Anyway I much prefer frozen vegetables. Far nicer, fuller of vitamins and micronutrients, and better texture than 'fresh' veg that has been in the fridge for a week.
  17. Sounds about right, as Carlisle pick up is usually around 5am.
  18. With only one wing it would probably do a circuit of the table before landing back on your plate. But, I would be sending it back for a few more minutes in the oven.
  19. It is a beast of chicken with the wing still attached.
  20. Carrying a phone would reduce what you carry by half. No need for a book or the paper copy of Horizon. My specs are carried on my nose. Why is reading a paper book any different from reading a screen?
  21. I only buy bottled or canned drinks (no ice) while ashore for that very reason. Once bitten twice shy!
  22. How is carrying a phone any more onerous than carrying a paper copy of Horizon, cruise card, spectacles, book, camera, sun screen, spare cardi, sun hat etc? Then number of people is see carrying huge bags with everything plus the kitchen sink, yet moan about carrying a phone. Carrying a phone reduces the amount of stuff you need to carry. If you don't think so you are obviously not the one with the handbag!
  23. Yes. But. It's the same as drinking water abroad. If you are living there your body will get used to it, but do you really want to be ill for the two weeks of your holiday? It's a big price to pay for becoming immune to a bug you may never come across again!
  24. My main problem would be which to order. I'd happily have any of the mains!
