  1. It is open to come and go on deck 5 and then deck 8….the only time you can’t get off is when it’s moving between the decks. Maybe a 2 minute trip.
  2. Just to clarify, you are not assigned a boarding time. You are assigned an arrival/ check in time. Normally you can pick that arrival time, 45 days before your cruise. When boarding begins for your cruise, suites, pinnacles, the key will usually board first, and then they will call numbers, which you receive when you check in. The earlier check in time, the earlier number you will get to board. In most cases, boarding will begin sometime between 10-11am if no other circumstances delay it. Many want to get on the ship ASAP, but you will have to tote your carry on’s around until cabins open between 1-2pm. Others like to wait until the crowds board and arrive after cabins are open.
  3. No piping bags involved on Navigator…mix color into frosting, stir, and spread on cupcake with bottom of the spoon. 😬
  4. If you go to the head icon at top right side of app, and scroll down, it should show you the date you can check in. You don’t need to keep checking. Here’s my Mar 27 cruise
  5. I started cruising in 1980 and never got it. I was young and lucky. As I’ve gotten older and started traveling internationally, I get insurance through Allianz. I have a yearly coverage right now, because I had several cruises booked within the year.
  6. Have you loaded the app? It will give you the date of your check in time, normally 45 days prior to cruise. If 11:00 ends up being earliest arrival time, I don’t think you would have any issues arriving a little early. If you want to use your 2 free days, the remaining days will be charged the ship price ( normally $24.99-26.99), not the sale price before. You have to do the math and see which would be the best price for you.
  7. My grandkids ( 9&10) just did this on the Navigator, and were disappointed. You get one cupcake and everybody had to make the same thing (a frog). They were given different colors of fondant to make the frog to sit on top of cupcake. I don’t think it was worth the price, but others may disagree.
  8. See? There you go…food and shows are subjective. I had the Chicken Pot Pie at Mason Jar and it was delicious. Also Effectors 2. I could care less about a plot. I’m there to enjoy the music and special effects. Go eat everywhere and go to the shows that interest you. Then you can form your own opinion, and not go by somebody else’s, who may have totally different tastes than yours. 😉
  9. I just recently took a side trip to Mijas in Nov. Fun tour, not overcrowded and included a Chocolate factory tour, with a tasting with wine. Yum! My friend has taken the HOHO bus and also had a great time. Very cool city. Since Pablo Picasso was born here, you will see a lot of his influence in the city.
  10. IMHO, since you board on Sat., I would imagine the ship will move forward 1 hr at 2am, Sun morning for the DST change. You will be made aware, so I wouldn’t really worry about it.
  11. You do not have a boarding time. Nobody knows when boarding will actually begin. You have an arrival time, when you can check in. Whether you will be allowed to check in early, depends on the port. I believe suites can check in an hour earlier than assigned. But they may not even check your arrival time. Most ports don’t look.
  12. I have stayed at both the Continental and Hotel Jazz. Also check out the Ports of Call thread for Barcelona. Lots of info there.
  13. My perks are a bit different for D+, and I never really pay attention, since I don’t really use most of them. I’m sure somebody will post a picture of the Diamond perks.
  14. All of your Diamond perks will be on a sheet of paper in your cabin.
  15. I see that, but seems like a total waste. Thousands of cruisers on all cruise lines, cruise with BC on closed loop cruises. To bad. And IMHO, I would never believe what a rep told me, unless I talked to at least 5. 😉 Better info here on Cruise Critic from experienced cruisers.
  16. Since you have a passport and a BC, take both. You should have no issue with passport, but you will be covered either way.
  17. I sailed the Grandeur back in 1997 with my daughters. I think there is a cruise ship for everyone. Lots of people love the old ships. I was on the Wonder TA in Oct/Nov, and recently over New Years, the Navigator. I like the newer ships. I also travel solo (New Years was with family) and really enjoy the production type shows, and multiple venues with music. I think the Ovation (only Quantum class I have been on) is still my fave, and hopefully that will still hold true in the Spring, when I’m on her for 54 nights. Glad you had a good time.
  18. Ripcord also has a free session. It’s a minute long. Book when you board.
  19. You have already paid 18% gratuity on the package. If you want to tip more, $1-2.
  20. I have read through most of the thread, but may have missed something. Protocols for TA’s posted for 2022, and didn’t think anything had been posted on the Royal website for 2023. So for those that booked, believing you didn’t need to be vaxxed, was there an update for TA’s and TP’s on the website, and then changed, or were you allowed to book with a rep, who told you you didn’t need to be vaxxed.
  21. Your luck may not be any better choosing another balcony. Many reports of people ignoring the rules and smoking on their balconies. I don’t normally book balconies, but had an aft with family, on the Navigator last week. Could smell cigarette smoke. And if you’re really lucky, you might get somebody smoking something stronger. 😉 But probably a lot better than being above smoking area.
  22. You can also take a 12 pack of soda on board with you, in your carry on. Since this is your first cruise, I would suggest reading the FAQ’s on the Royal Website.
  23. Just off the Navigator on Friday, and we had 2 time changes. So ship time and PV time were the same.
  24. Yes, have an IPhone. I honestly can’t say if every single text popped up, but most did.
  25. Just off the Navigator, and I did get pop ups on my phone when I got a message. I turned on notifications for the app on my phone.
