  1. You can look at drink menus on the app, and see what is served. Everything up to $14 is included on your drink package, which includes most premium spirits. What spirits are you particularly asking about? You can ask for whatever you want. If it’s over $14, they will charge the difference plus 18% gratuity.
  2. Somebody booked on our Roll Call that they just booked a couple of days ago. Maybe they lucked out when checking that a cabin had opened, or a travel agent has some cabins they are holding. Check after final payment and there might be cabins open for this year.
  3. You also might want to ask on the Australia/NZ board also. https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/564-australia-new-zealand-cruisers/
  4. On the Fall TA, there were also a couple of large groups. They kind of took over the solarium, but I found plenty of other places to go. Besides the Bistro being closed for Pinnacles, sometimes the Music Hall was also closed for them. It really did not affect my enjoyment of the ship. I loved her. But I still think I enjoy the Ovation more. Just a personal preference.
  5. That’s a decent price. I would probably just go with that for the ease. The only thing that might make the trip a bit longer, is having to get off the bus and drag your luggage through CBP at the border going into Canada. I had to do this with Quick Shuttle and there were 2 buses ahead of us, so I’m assuming it would be the same with Royal bus.
  6. This is good to know. I’m a martini drinker, and this sounds delicious. Will definitely have plenty of time on Ovation to try one…..or more. LOL
  7. I am also noise sensitive to certain noises. More of repetitive noises. I always take ear plugs. They’re a life saver for sleeping.
  8. I don’t know of any shuttle from Royal that goes between Seattle and Vancouver. Since Amtrak is running again, between Seattle and Vancouver, that would be first choice. But it also depends on timing. It is the most scenic. I live in the Seattle area, and took Quick Coach in May 2022, when trains weren’t running yet.
  9. The only location big ships can’t go to now is Bora Bora. They can still go to Papeete and Moorea. I will be there on Royal Ovation in April, and it’s BIG…🤣
  10. I personally like bigger ships, and while I like the variations of shows on Oasis class, I like the openness of Quantum class, although I’ve only been on Ovation. I like the Solarium and Two70 the best. I am a solo traveler, and I think these 2 places in particular are great for just hanging out. Everybody likes certain classes of ships, some bigger, some smaller, so I hope you like it.
  11. The 25 night is really enticing, but I did similar on the Splendor in 2019 from Long Beach to Singapore. It was a great trip, but you have to love sea days (I do). I just wish there were better perks for those at top tier. They are going to be breaking up the Royal Caribbean World cruise into 17 legs, so I’m waiting to see what those prices might be. This cruise has a great price. I do love Singapore a lot….
  12. I love getting those messages. I think if you travel a lot, especially internationally, it’s the best service to have.
  13. I went twice. Taking the Spirit over to Sydney in 2012 and the Legend in 2014.
  14. Hey neighbor….You will love the Ovation. She’s my fave, and I board her again on Mar 27 in Sydney, and bring her all the way back to my home port, Seattle. Since cruising is new for you, take some time to read over the FAQ’s on the website. You can skip over ones that aren’t of interest, but you will be able to get a lot of info from some of them. PS With the free app, make sure to turn on notifications for the app. You may or may not see the text on your phone, but having notifications on helps. Sometimes you may just need to go into app and check for messages.
  15. According to the current sailing on the app, Traditional is 5 and 7:45 pm MTD starts at 6:30. I have never seen any ship with MTD starting at 7:45pm. Most are 6:30-6:45 Do you know how to find this info on the app?
  16. It’s easier to use google, than to use search via cruise critic. I have a PHD in Googleology. 🤣🤣
  17. It started quite a while ago. Possibly when the restart started, but maybe not on all ships. I know on my Ovation Oct/2021 it was already that way. Many, who like to eat early, have now switched to early Traditional. As posted above, MTD is now being seated when early traditional diners finish.
  18. Agree with above posts, and it’s called Voom.
  19. Yeah, that is a bummer. We went for dinner. My daughter had the truffle Lobster Roll and one other that I can’t remember. She also had Miso soup as a small plate. What’s funny is my granddaughter ordered off the kids menu, and she got 12 pieces of sushi. I ordered the Poke Bowl for 2nd large plate, and gave to her. My non fish daughter asked for a veggie sushi roll and got 8 pieces.
  20. I had pre purchased for my family for out New Years cruise on Navigator. The number of pieces for a roll had changed. So we each got to order 1 small plate and 2 large plates and dessert. So if you ordered 2 rolls, you got 8 pieces. I don’t eat sushi, but after gyoza, ramen bowl and dessert, it was plenty. I guess for some it’s not enough. When I was on the Wonder in Nov., before change, I saw couples with 2 rolls each, which was 32 pieces total. It was a crazy amount of food, and most of it sat there, wasted, when they were done.
  21. I can see where this would be annoying for those that booked the full 9 months. In the beginning they were aware of the 4 separate legs that would break off from the original, but now this will be a whole lot of of turnaround days and excess S&S cards. It seems like Royal didn’t plan this as well as they should have in the beginning. A couple of the mini voyages looking appealing, but I’m not booking anything else until I hit my 340 on my Mar/Apr Ovation cruises. I guess it will all depend when they show up to be booked.
  22. Go to top left of page where it says My Royal Cruise. Use the arrow to pull down menu and click internet. It should be there. Mine is on my May Ovation cruise.
  23. Maybe it’s just a learning curve on a new website. I just did a random search on an Alaska cruise in May for one person….interior, virtual balcony. In upper right hand corner, it shows the total price for 1 person. I don’t need to go to checkout. I also like getting double points in a double cabin and single deposit, which Carnival does not do. I’m as high as I can go on Carnival, and they offer me nothing else now. At 340 points (days) on Royal, you get a discount as a solo traveler.
  24. A solo passenger pays for double occupancy minus 1 set of taxes and port fees. Some ships do have single cabins, but sometimes they are more expensive than just paying for a double occupancy cabin. I have traveled solo since 2010, and I look at what the cost is per day. It always is cheaper than doing a land trip and paying for hotel (which is also based on double occupancy), food, and entertainment. You just have to set your limit at what you are willing to pay a day to cruise.
