  1. Kids don’t have the option of a 10 year passport. From ages 3-15 it is 5 years, under 3 only 3 years.
  2. It looks like all of the times have now been adjusted for my sailing. It is definitely worth checking yours.
  3. Silversea has recently adjusted the times for almost all of the excursions on my sailing (June 15) except the last 2 ports. They may be going in date order. I now do have a mix of morning and afternoon excursions, and, at the moment, only those of the last 2 ports haven't been adjusted, are are still showing at the arrival time in port.
  4. You go online in the same way you renew your NEXUS card and change the passport number in your file.
  5. Unfortunately, they don’t cover either of the 2 countries I am off to next, so I’ll stick to getting a SIM for Europe.
  6. I used the cruise line for my first 2 river cruises (both in Europe, and both not adding on any additional days). In both cases, I was flying in on day of embarkation. For my other 2, both in south east Asia, I made my own arrangements and added on time at the beginning of the cruise. (On the Irawaddy, I added on the cruise lines post-cruise extension, but made my own air arrangements.) Now I have much more difficulty with jet lag, so I will never again fly in on day of departure.
  7. Thanks. I don’t know how I missed it.
  8. I don't see ANY mention that gratuities are included anywhere in this document
  9. I fly alone. On a wide body plane, I always choose the centre section, and since my left leg needs to stretch out some of the time I go for seat D. I want to be able to get up without having to climb over anyone. Particularly if the plane is 3-3-3 I hope that the other 2 seats will be a couple and if they want out the middle seat will climb out on the other side. And if the centre section has 4 seats I can hope for an empty seat beside me, since those middle seats are the least desirable.
  10. But the seats are narrower because the tray table is in the arm rest.
  11. The EQ card is not actually a debit card. It is not accepted in places that don’t accept credit cards. It is a (prepaid) Mastercard. I remember trying to use it to buy foreign currency, and they wouldn’t take it. Then I realized that all I needed to do was to walk a bit through the mall to take out cash from an ATM to buy the foreign currency. I don’t use a lot of cash, but I do like to have some local currency with me. The ATM fees are only rebated in Canada. If you use it outside the country you will pay any ATM fees charged by the foreign bank. I use the card all the time now when I travel. I had no problems using it in Germany and France as well as the US. The 0.5% cash back isn’t a lot, but there are no foreign currency fees.
  12. I realized that after the fact. There was only door to door when I booked, but I took out the flights because I knew that I would have points. But they added the single supplement before they took off the airfare, so I am still paying 25% of the air cost.
  13. There is a link in my post 657 above to find out where you are docking. Once you find your ship, click on the ship’s name and you will get the information that I posted that shows you where the specific dock number is.
  14. I have a Home Trust Visa card. I also have an EQ Card from EQ bank, which works as a prepaid Mastercard that doesn’t charge fees. The Visa has no perks; the EQ Card pays me 0.5% on all purchases using the card. It also pays the same interest on the money that you have on the card as on their regular daily account, currently 2.5% plus a bonus bringing it up to 4% for 12 months if you have auto deposits totalling $500 or more per month.
  15. I think that last minute bookings might as well have excursions excluded, because my cruise is still 3 months away and many of the ports have no included excursions available. (And I have to assume that the cost would be lower, otherwise why a new fare category.)
  16. Just note that the 25GB is only in the UK. For roaming there is a "fair use policy" that allows only 12GB to be used in Europe.
  17. For others (since @dfilpus answered for you), if you click on the ship name you get full information including the terminal name.
  18. Sorry I can’t help more. I also really wanted to do the train trip (by the way, cruise line excursions don’t go all the way to the top; they get off to go to a hotel for waffles before reboarding the same train on the way down) but I saw a description by someone who had done the cruise/bus combination and decided that I really wanted to do it.
  19. I assume the land and water one goes into Næroyfjord. That is supposed to be particularly scenic. I was also torn between those options, Ultimately, I am trying to do both. What I am doing is taking the cruise in the morning, and have booked the railway for the afternoon. (This of course depends on your departure time.)
  20. Try searching for Blue Puffin. I'm sure that I remember quite a few positive comments about them here.
  21. It depends where you are docking. If at Oceankaj there isn’t anything. If at Langelinie, you are close to the Little Mermaid, Kastellet fortress, Amalienborg Slot Designmuseum Danmark. A little farther is Nyhavn. You can find where you are docking at https://www.cmport.com/terminals/ships-in-port/
  22. Sometimes it is you that need to enter the number when you check in online.
  23. Actually, we did go to Rüdesheim before we turned around. I had forgotten that, mostly because except for taking the cable car up to the monument I hated the touristy place.
  24. I did Vienna to Basel with Uniworld in 2011. We did not go into the Rhine Gorge. We turned upstream on the Rhine to Basel.
