  1. Definitely no need for dressy shoes. Because of the heat I had a number of gauzy tops which worked fine for evening wear. I don’t know what your schedule is like, but for my trip we started in Hanoi, spent a night on Halong Bay then flew to Siem Reap. Our hotel is Seam Reap had a deal for laundry; one beg with as much as you could stuff in for a fixed price. I took advantage of that, and washed underwear and sometimes tops in my cabin and hung them to dry.
  2. If you have any internal flights, they are quite strict on baggage allowance. One of the nice things about warmer weather cruises is that light tops and bottoms don’t take up too much room. As to footwear, I can’t really walk in sandals - I have the feet of the princess and the pea. I also wear shoes with orthotics, so I went for the white New Balance walking shoes with mesh tops. If my feet were’t as sensitive, running shoes would have done. For indoor wear, my sandals (open back) serve to walk around the ship and as slippers. And, since our ship had a small pool, a pair of rubber thongs.
  3. Here are a number of recent threads on the Mekong. They all showed up (with more) on the first page of a search for Mekong in the River Cruising Forum.
  4. You are also a lot younger yourself than many of us posting here.
  5. I would also take a picture of that screen or print out a screenshot.
  6. This is a year where Passover and Easter diverge. Easter Sunday is March 31, while the first Passover Seder is Monday April 22 with the holiday running to April 29 or 30 depending on location and beliefs.
  7. Check whether the cruise line even allows these items, as many lines ban heat producing appliances. All lines provide hair dryers.
  8. If the ports you list in post 1 are all the ports, you aren't going to any of the major fjord ports. Nordfjord is the only fjord that you sail into, and it isn't one of the 3 main deep water fjord ports (Geiranger, Flåm and Olden). Most of your Norwegian ports are coastal (Haugesund, Ålesund, Stavanger and Kristiansand).
  9. Virtually all electronics today (phones, computers, cameras etc) are dual voltage, so you only need a plug adapter. A converter is a more complicated and expensive item that converts the voltage which you don't need for dual voltage chargers.
  10. There is a zipline near Flåm. See norwaysbest.com for information.
  11. It’s very strange the discrepancies as to which is returned first, and how far between the two. I got mine both on the same day, but others have reported a big difference.
  12. Related to what you point out in the first paragraph, if Australia’s consumer protection laws are more stringent than American laws that might explain the price differential.
  13. Or you might not be able to. It might be a ‘cost’ of using Cruise Critic.
  14. Are you sure you are docking at the Amsterdam Cruise terminal? Last year some ships were rerouted to Ijmuiden (spelling?) and some to Rotterdam.
  15. No you don't need to apply for EES. When you arrive they will not stamp your passport but will register you electronically.
  16. If you want eggs and bacon/sausage you need the full breakfast. They also - or at least the PI St. Pancras had/have what I think they called cold breakfast which included cereal and fruit and yogurt and rolls and some pastry and toast. I think it also had cold cuts and cheese but I'm not certain. I only found out about it when I checked in, and I changed from the full breakfast to the simpler one at the time.
  17. I spent a wonderful Saturday evening once (on a cycling trip) in a pub in Wales that had a Saturday evening sing-along in Welsh and in English, with provided lyric booklets. I had fun singing along to This Land is Your Land in Welsh.
  18. How are they getting away with “grilled cheese”??
  19. Yes. I only gave one example. There are many more.
  20. The Academie is nothing compared to Quebec's Office de la Langue Française, which is much stricter. At least France allows STOP on stop signs. Quebec insists on ÂRRET.
  21. Again, that is the UK pronunciation. It isn’t uniquely Canadian.
  22. And I got it backwards, it should have been "gh" as in enough, not 'f".
  23. These are not aimed at the older teen mentioned by the OP.
