  1. Privileged access is when it is not open to the general public. It doesn't mean that other cruise lines or groups cannot get the same access, sometimes at the same time as you. I was on a cruise from Istanbul to Venice that had privileged after hours access to St. Mark's Cathedral. We were not the only group there at the time. This access is also offered by Uniworld on their Venice cruises, and probably by others.
  2. Might I suggest that other lines are probably better for singles. Most other lines will waive single supplement or have low single supplements on some of their cruises. My experience on Uniworld in Europe was that it was very easy to sit at a table for 6 and some couples or singles would join. On another trip, I generally dined with a couple and another person travelling solo at a table for 4. (On Ama on the Mekong most of the tables were for 8 or more and it was very easy to just sit and people would join you or you could join a table already partly filled.)
  3. King’s Cross/St Pancras is basically one station. No crosstown transportation required.
  4. They can see that there is water in it on the scanner. Then they pull you out of line to yell at you. 🫣
  5. There is absolutely no restriction against bringing an empty bottle. I always do, and fill it once past security.
  6. The ship will absolutely book a taxi for you. Don't deal with head office, just when you board (or when they are discussing onward transportation) ask them to book the taxi to the Eurostar terminal.
  7. Yes, it is. But Global Entry was $100 (for less advantages) and is going to the same $120. We just got a really good deal with Nexus in the past.
  8. Here is the information from the US Federal Register. It will be applicable to applications submitted on or after October 1, 2024 https://www.federalregister.gov/documents/2024/04/02/2024-06852/increase-in-the-nexus-application-fee-and-change-in-the-nexus-application-fee-for-certain-minors
  9. Just read that the fee for Global Entry is going up from $100 to $120. Nexus and SENTRI fees are also going up to $120. You might want to get your Nexus renewal in earlier, especially if your credit card company doesn't cover the cost.
  10. The Mekong was the only cruise I took with Ama (in 2017). I thought the food was great. I'm a fairly picky eater, although I do like Chinese and Thai food. I surprised myself by always finding something on the daily menu, and never having to resort to the always available items.
  11. No, mid-summer is well past the winter snow runoff, which happens in spring. Lately, mid-summer has been drought, as mentioned by @Nippy Sweetie.
  12. I use one like this, although I'm not sure it is exactly the same brand. Very light, and it folds so that the clip can go around it. https://www.amazon.ca/Foldable-Leak-Proof-Reusable-Collapsible-Adventure/dp/B07527H3NC/ref=sr_1_5?crid=1PCTDXGI9BKW7&dib=eyJ2IjoiMSJ9.9HOioX2zA9rsGIDCIFE1GCEyaBWihK6pyzA9NeDkJbc9Xl9cwycY8fI4Ti_N6q8xgejLy5FDW5HZ967Khlpj8BtMOz-WnORjHpKzGV4-G_4XJGwMmEhiMAJ9k8kDSmgeh3-1mZdd3Knp_HNUEzKLrjtfi9GGJBoPJLYfVlFJqtdcvG6Y_px9d7fANSGN59C5xj03JIuhdgO1HvGMcjhmKnXxbknsv5jPV0ozCIDQuS5gKDD7Oq6-4Aebg51EiONt4cTiD0Gri4LF7hYUglNm6BwfpIE_AgECuYI8VMPgVHs.9dqzTgv3E3vJwdEk4ObdxeTDFNQ6FUmutCpPYoHUwKc&dib_tag=se&keywords=folding+water+bottle+travel&qid=1712071150&sprefix=folding+travel+bottle%2Caps%2C98&sr=8-5
  13. From what I understand that isn't anywhere near enough time in CDG.
  14. You might want to look at this thread which is only 3 below yours on the page.
  15. Yes it is. They have already declared a state of emergency to help control the crowds. And they have added activities post eclipse to keep you in the city to avoid having everyone leave at the same time.
  16. If they are an hour north of Toronto on the escarpment they aren't going to be in the belt of totality. (Toronto isn't either, but the areas to the southwest of us and east north east are.)
  17. I have multiple versions that show the excursion as included, and then versions of My Activities that show both the zero total and the $159 total.
  18. As has been discussed here before, Silversea has moved some excursions from included to select. Those of us who had booked them while they were included seem to have been grandfathered, not being charged for the excursion. When looking at the excursion pricing on the selected excursion, the price was greyed out, and when looking at My Reserved Activities document, both the unit price and the total price showed zero, and there was no cost in the total. However, last week when I checked again, the price is still greyed out, in the document it still shows a unit price of $0.00 but now it shows a total price of $159.00, which is now included in the total. Has anyone else seen this same issue? I had my TA look into it, and she came back and told me that I would be charged for the excursion, even though the unit cost still shows $0.00.
  19. And I completely forgot that I had the benefit, and put the charge on my travel card that doesn’t have foreign exchange fees. I felt so stupid!
  20. She is already an adult for a passport. Adults are ages 16+. Children are up to 15.
  21. I have a strange issue now. My originally booked included excursion became a select excursion some time ago. The price is crossed out, and, in my previous version of My Activities, it showed a unit cost for the tour of $0.00 and a total cost of $0.00. However, My Activities from March 22/24 continues to show a unit cost of $0.00, but the total cost now shows $159.00. However, when I look at the day on My Silversea, the price is still crossed off. This differs from another select excursion that I have chosen, where the price is in red and not crossed out. (They have also changed the name of the excursion, but not its content.) I had my travel agent look into this, and the response she got was that I will have to pay. (I was on Bluetooth in the car so I wasn't prepared to talk to the person at the time, because I didn't have any way of making any notes.) She promised to give me the number of the person she was talking to, so I'll see if I can get this figured out. As an aside, I double checked the Shore Excursion Terms and Conditions that I printed out when I first selected my excursions, and it says "Prices are subject to change without notice."
  22. I'm not @CDNPolar, however, you have to go through Passport control if you are connecting to another Schengen country, which includes almost all of Europe. I'm not certain about security, but I think you do need to go through security.
