  1. The late queen has been on Canadian banknotes since she appeared as Princess Elizabeth on the 1935 $20 bill at the age of 8.
  2. I’m not really big on savoury crepes, but on cycling trips in France I have had many an afternoon snack of a chocolate banana crepe. None of the nutella stuff that frequently gets served here, but real chocolate. Yummy
  3. I did this twice in Vietnam, once in Hanoi and once in Ho Chi Minh City. (I also did a motorbike tour in Hanoi.) I had never been on a Vespa or a motorbike before (although I do ride a bicycle) but I very much enjoyed the Vespa rides in particular. (The motorbike was a little less comfortable because I didn't really have anywhere to put my feet; on the Vespa at least my heels could go on the running board.) It is worth trying.
  4. I hope not! Imagining maybe, imaging is probably a crime.
  5. Can I then assume that when you show photos getting closer and closer to the birds or other animals that you are just cropping in on the same photo? I can't imagine that the zoom could work that quickly to get what look like identical shots. (You also seem to be able to get birds in flight; I wonder how many you toss. I think I have managed one single bird in flight picture and even that missed a corner of the wing.)
  6. An insurer needs to be licensed in every province (and state for that matter) in which it does business.
  7. It wasn’t the number of ports, it was the particular ones that I was interested in.
  8. If you are searching for it, note that it is LEKNES not Lenkes.
  9. I’m not sure what you are looking for. But the third one, while having pretty good Norwegian stops, to me wastes way too much time going back and forth to Rotterdam. It is really 2 different Norway cruises (each with a few good - and different- ports) stuck together.
  10. They include an excursion in each port, so price that in. I actually haven’t found any particularly good Norway cruises with Viking Ocean. I found they didn’t go to enough of the places that I really wanted to see.
  11. I think some of them come and go as people reserve and change their minds. I don’t know whether 9:30 was ever available; if that is the first good time for cruise ship passengers the ship might have a lock on many of those seats, and others not allocated to Norway’s Best.
  12. If you can find it 7-up always stated about caffeine "never had it never will". So diet 7-up should be ok too. The problem is that, in my experience, Coca Cola products (Sprite) are generally much more common in Europe than Pepsi products (7-Up).
  13. Canada had a Berlin (not far from Toronto) but it was renamed to Kitchener in 1916. We also have New Hamburg (not far from Kitchener).
  14. Just remember that you don't get cash back, only future cruise credit if you use the "cancel for any reason" provision, which keeps you coming back to the early payment requirement and, if you are a solo traveller - I know that you aren't the one who most recently commented so probably not - stuck with the 100% single supplement.
  15. I wasn't commenting on availability on the cruise; rather on availability in general. I have never seen caffeine free diet cola in Europe, anywhere. On the other hand, diet Sprite was frequently available in restaurants (here in Canada the only diet drink generally available in a restaurant is a caffeinated cola), as well as in many small snack stops and tourist spots.
  16. I don’t think I have seen caffeine free cola in many European trips but Diet Sprite (or maybe it is now Sprite Zero) seemed to be fairly common.
  17. I don’t know if they still do it, but Avalon used to have up to (2 or 4, I can’t remember) aquarium class cabins with no single supplement on every sailing.
  18. But I looked at May 18; that was where I found that the 9:30 and 10:45 departures were sold out on Norway's Best (or had never been allocated to them).
  19. But the second itinerary does skip Bergen.
  20. You would certainly get more bang for your buck as a solo traveller; Viking has the highest single supplement for non-suite cabins that I have seen.
  21. Seeing the châteaux spread out over 6 months may be the way to go; I found even attempting 2 in a day to be too much.
  22. I have to assume that the times are booked by the cruise lines as discussed above in posts 39-43. To be honest, I'm not sure that you could get a group of 100+ onto any train.
  23. @BuckeyeMark Yes, you can book the round trip https://www.norwaysbest.com/the-flam-railway/round-trip-with-the-flam-railway/?referrer=3919 Hit the book now. Unfortunately, the 9:30 and 10:45 departures are both shown as sold out on May 18.
  24. You can’t book on vy.no this early. You can only book round trips on norwaysbest.com. What are your plans for getting back from Myrdal? Vy.no does not release all available seats to norwaysbest, so there should be some availability 120 days out if you really only want a one way trip. By the way, there is no 9 am train. The first trip is 8:25, the next is 9:30.
