  1. If I remember in the early days, if you kept the volume there was music play, other than announcements.
  2. The weight was what my thinking but needed someone in the know as to why the Op incident (passenger was air lifted) as compared to my experience. Thanks to you and @ScottishRobbie for a concise explanation. By the way the ship was still in the water and although the copter was a good distance away you could hear the sound/noise of its motor.
  3. Something like that happened some years ago on the Anthem. Coming up north and being about a day out of Bayonne, I woke up and drew my balcony cabin drapes and some strange land formation is staring me in the face. The formation looked familiar, and it took me a few minutes and sure enough I realized that it was Bermuda. About an hour later there was a boat rushing towards us and came to the side and then a gentleman was transferred to it and proceeded to go towards Hamilton. By the way if there was an announcement, I and my wife did not hear it.
  4. We had a situation on our Anthem August 2019 where a passenger required a blood transfusion. The CD kept asking over the loudspeaker if passengers had the needed blood type to donate. They were not successful and sometime in the afternoon off the coast of Connecticut came a coast guard helicopter. The copter did not land and made a couple of forays and at one time hovered over the ship. No further announcements made and assume that the blood type was delivered as after some time we began sailing again. Dont know why it did not land.
  5. You can belong to AARP at age 55 and get any discounts applicable.
  6. They call it the "plank". It's a wooden plank and they place it over 2 cans of tomato sauce or tomatoes.😀
  7. Is Giovanni's Kitchen a Pizzeria while table being an Italian Restaurant. By any chance do you have a menu for G Kitchen.
  8. I came face to face with the expression of the early bird gets........... I was looking at Odyssey sailing out of Bayonne on Easter 2025 and the fares since then is basically 55% higher for a balcony cabin for 2. When I began researching it was $1,929 and now it's $3,000+.
  9. Just off Oasis and no pizza in Giovanni's, but a heck of other wonderful dishes. Loved the appetizer of meat and cheese board to start.
  10. The crew member was probably a Royal employee and not a porter who belong to the Longshoremen's Union.
  11. Compared to the cost of the entire cruise a few bucks per bag provides me with some sense of security. Call it insurance. There was a thread a few months ago, that compared the porters at Miami Port to the Mafia. Very interesting comments.😄
  12. I tip the porter at check-in time due to my concern that my bags will not make it to our cabin. Mind you these guys make a hell of a livable wage.
  13. I sailed Oasis on August 20 and what I had as appetizers and entrees was good. On the last night I saw gnocchi with a cream sauce. Cream sauce does not agree with my stomach and asked if they could substitute marinara. The marinara sauce was excellent and enjoyed the gnocchi with the tiger shrimps entree
  14. Sorry, should have included won and some Russians.😄
  15. Loyalty Ambassadors (she) are usually pretty fluent in English, and she was the individual leaving the voice message.
  16. Got the above detailed C& benefits at the GS on Oasis 20th sail. Used to get a specific benefits correspondence for D+ members in cabin from the LA. This time around none provided and had to go to GS and got the more detailed one. Also, in the past got paper invites whether lunch with officer or any C&A member activities, however it was all done via voice mail on cabin telephone. I guess saving paper. The problem was that one of the events was the same day as the message and I missed it. If this is the new norm, why not list it in the daily cruise planner.
  17. The rumor based on an article in Vanity Fair was that he was highly intoxicated and was a cigar smoker who had been reported smoking in cabin. The article mentioned that to avoid suspicion of the smell he was smoking while sitting on his balcony rail and blowing smoke into the air. He lost balance and fell overboard. Also, one of the rumors that was discounted, was that he had at the casino and dime Russians Mafia from Brooklyn did him in. Ps. I believe, they found his wife intoxicated and unconscious in the hallway. She sued Royal and got a settlement.
  18. What is odd is that it is excluded from the Chop’s + 1, but in the planner it has the same price as Jamie’s Also the special is not available on my upcoming March 31 Anthem and October 9, ‘24 Symphony sails. Wonder if going forward it only applies for sails out of Bayonne. The 3 dinner special is available. Ps. Booked Chop’s + 1 for our recent August 20 sail, but the bookings took place the latter part of last year. y
  19. Here’s a list of shows from the august 20 sail. Not to be missed Frozen in Time and the Aqua Show. Jason Bishop the illusionist was fantastic, plus a great sense of humor. Unfortunately he may not be on Oasis.
  20. Think and stay positive. Just finished an Oasis family cruise which was a replacement for an Easter '20 Anthem which was cancelled due to the pandemic. The sad part is that my beloved spouse of 50+ years passed away in 2020.🙏❤️
  21. I bought 2 beds for that price, plus Nassau VAT tax for out Easter '24 Anthem cruise. What is funny is that currently all of the beds are priced alike.
  22. The sea pass has an associated face/pix as a match. That is the reason when you disembark at a port, they look at the monitor.
  23. Was it confirmed that an individual went overboard. Some years ago (pre-cameras) when we left Civitavecchia, Italy, right after dinner there was an Oscar, Oscar announcement. Saw crew members scurrying all over the place. We were on the Serenade and were ordered to our cabins so that they could control and inventory of all the passengers. They did this some 3 times. We had a balcony cabin, and it was a sight. Searchlights and other equipment not only from the Serenade but other cruise ships and other vessels that were in the area joined in the search. After some 4 hours of searching approval to leave was given by the Italian Coast Guard. The good news was that everyone was accounted for, and it was surmised that someone had left either a shirt or jacked on one of the loungers and it blew into the water. To this day I still don't understand why they did not require all passengers to meet in a location and scan their sea passes rather than a physical inventory while in cabins.
