  1. I agree with Cruisermom😀. I have been sailing solo for 20 years and someone's martial status does not matter to me. I enjoy meeting others, single/divorced/married/etc....etc....I mean, if I happen to meet another solo guest? Ok....but I don't place any importance on that fact. I have met all kinds of people over the years and many have been married or "together" but not actually married LOL......and found them more engaging than other solo guests. I agree, People are People........some fun, some interesting, some not so much.........but as for the marital status? Just not something that is important to me. Oh, to your original question about cruise lines? Nowadays everyone has so many choices........over the last few years I have been sailing with Silversea and love their product. More $$ than mainstream lines for sure but in my opinion, well worth it. Prior to that I sailed with Celebrity for about 15 years with some others sprinkled in...a few on Royal and 1 with HAL and another with Azamara. All of them have positives and negatives. .I prefer the smaller ships these days so Silversea fits my needs.
  2. The last time I stayed at The Hampton On Brickell I found MANY restaurants within walking distance. I cannot think of their names or prices right now but I do agree Publix is nearby too. and "Mary Brickell Village" is close and there are a lot of choices to choose from. Here is a link: https://www.marybrickellvillage.com/dining
  3. Hi, to say not to do the HO/HO bus is kind of a broad statement, in my opinion. I will be in Athens next month but will only have a 1/2 day pre cruise and I plan on taking the bus tour. I travel solo and it will be easier for me to pick up the bus tour rather than trying to find a private tour guide for that same time frame. There is a bus stop right near my hotel. I have gone on them in other cities, Vancouver for example and found it a nice, inexpensive way to kill a few hours. Now, maybe for multiple days? You can find a good private tour guide that will charge you a good price for all those days. But I would not tell folks not to do the Bus Tour. I know Rick Steves stuff and don't always agree with him.
  4. If you want everyone to go in the same car? I would try Larry's Limos. Otherwise, you could always do Uber/Lyft with multiple cars. Oh, you want "Private"....so Uber would be out. Yes, Larry's Limos always gets high recommendations on this forum.
  5. Hi, that is why I mentioned river cruises being more casual. They really are casual every night. I guess dress codes are just different for a guy. I sail solo so for me? It is slacks and tops every night and I have never felt out of place. But I don't feel like SS is from the 1950's..........but that is just me.
  6. They don't offer an evening buffet. So it is still a full service Italian Restaurant for dinner. I ate there multiple times for dinner in January on The Dawn.
  7. Hi Jazz, you probably know I sail SS all the time. Just to make you aware, LaTerrazza is not a buffet for dinner......there is no buffet for dinner on SS.... dinnertime it is a full service Italian Restaurant. Can't help you with the jacket portion although I know I have seen men without them plenty of times. Sorry you unhappy you booked.....☹️
  8. Kat, My Publix carries noosa frozen yogurt. 😀 and it was on sale. I got 2 pints......one is strawberry and the other is chocolate. They also had lemon but I really wanted the honey/vanilla but they did not have that one.
  9. Hi, I rarely, if ever get sea sick and even though SS ships are on the smaller side, I have always found them quite stable. As for the attire, I would say river cruises in general (whatever the line) are more casual. SS does have a couple of formal nights, if not more, depending on the length of the cruise. There are venues available if you don't want to dress up though. It is one of those topics that pops up on every ocean line forum (or so it seems LOL). My "dressy" closes are a nice pair of palazzo pants and pretty top. I have always felt more than welcome. I am not a "formal person" really and the slacks and top are always appropriate.
  10. WOW...sounds like you are going to have a wonderful trip😀 wishing you safe and Uneventful flights!
  11. Had a good call with the Dr. and I need to start eating more foods with iron.......he asked me if I like spinach....yes, I do😀. And I didn't realize pumpkin seeds and sunflower seeds are a good source of iron too. And nuts too! But I don't have to take an iron supplement, thankfully. I actually told him I really didn't want to since it can cause constipation. We spoke for about 15 minutes so it was good. Anyway, I am continuing my search for a summer cruise.........
  12. Oh, are you referring to the items on the "My Silversea" account? I thought you meant you had received paperwork from SS about your cruise via email and that was why I was confused.
  13. I feel the same way about Silversea. I rarely, if ever have a balance to pay at the end of my cruises. Everything included makes it so nice😀
  14. Hi, I have been on 2 river cruises and probably 60 or more ocean cruises. I have been sailing with Silversea since 2017. Prior to that I sailed with Celebrity for nearly 15 years. A few with Royal and HAL sprinkled in....... I agree with Coral's post and if you want to sail ocean cruises but want smaller ships? Silversea's largest ship holds 600 guests. I can't speak on Seabourn, Regent or Oceania. I have sailed with Azamara once and it was ok. I have 11 cruises with Silversea and going again next month. I love their product. Oh, one of my river cruises was with Uniworld and I loved it too! Good luck with your research-----everyone should love to have this problem😀😀😀
  15. 2 copies? Nope, never. I bring my vax card and have never made a copy of it. It has always been accepted. What forms are you working through for a cruise that is 3 months away?
  16. Hi, depends on the restaurant. Atlantide would be considered "the main restaurant" and you can tell the Maitr'd you would like to sit with others. I sail solo all the time and have found it very easy to meet other guests and sometimes go for drinks and dinner together. And you don't have to book a reservation ahead of time. Actually, 95% I don't book ahead. Silversea does not offer a buffet for dinner so that would not be an option.
  17. Lois R

    Formal night

You are correct. SALT is always either informal or casual.
  18. Silver Note opens at 8pm. I haven't eaten there recently so hopefully someone who has can give you the 100% correct answer on the music. I am not sure but I think the music may start about 8:30.....but again, I can't remember for sure.
  19. Hi, I have sailed to Alaska at least 4 or 5 times solo....the last time was back in July 2022. I did a land tour pre-cruise for that one too. Hope you have a wonderful cruise😀
  20. I think that post was from 2020...... Valetines Day 3 years ago.
  21. Called my Dr this morning and told them I wanted a follow up with some questions about my lab results. Nothing open till next month🙄....I didn't really like than answer and they came back saying he could do a phone call with me tomorrow morning at 11:15. I said GREAT😀. I don't need to see him in person for this so a call will be just fine. Hope all goes smoothly.
