  1. Good morning, first, thank you all for the suggestions and your thoughts🙂 .and don't take this wrong but OMG.....it certainly sounds like everyone has their own views on what to do, how long to stay, where to go, etc....etc....it is a bit overwhelming. I have traveled on my own for many years (20 of those years cruising). But it sure does sound like Paris is different. To be honest, I don't have a list of "to do" stuff.....I have always wanted to sail on the Seine and the rest of it is gravy. I would like to find a private tour guide who knows the area. I will do my research. I know Tours by Locals is supposed to be quite good and I will check them out.
  2. Good morning, I posted over on the River Cruise Forum.......Cynthia, take a look at that thread. OMG........go here, no, don't go there, stay here, no stay there.......do this, do that...........everyone certainly has their opinions about what to do for a couple of days in Paris.😧.
  3. Hi JP, you are the best🙂. Tauck will pick me up at the airport and take me to whatever hotel I am staying at. I am thinking about going 2 days early instead of just 1. And your postings are always helpful🙂 I will check the properties you mentioned and see what is what price wise.
  4. Hi JP, thanks for chiming in. No, I am not spending 1,000's of $$$ on a hotel......that is for sure. Do you and Chris have a place or 2 you want to suggest? I haven't thought about everything Paris offers to be honest.......The Louvre would be on my list though.🙂
  5. I am sailing in July.and yes, it is roundtrip. I plan to come home at the end of the cruise.
  6. The Reserve is not available and the Peninsula looks like it is over 2000.00 per night😮.....that is way beyond what I want to spend.
  7. Hi again🙂....yes, this is my first visit to Paris. I need a hotel for 1 night pre-cruise. Any suggestions that won't blow my VISA out of the water? Seems hotels in Paris are quite $$$$. GourmetGal, your suggestions are welcomed🙂and thank you for that compliment. I appreciate it.
  8. Thank you both for the suggestions. I guess I didn't realize how $$$$ hotels in Paris are! Cynthia, your place looks lovely........I will only be there one night. Room is about 500.00😮Kat, your hotel is less $$. I actually like "Boutique" or Pensionne style properties. When the cruise line told me how much they want? I almost fell out of my lazy boy. They use the Intercontinental and it was like 900.00 for one night😧crazy!
  9. Hi cruisers, I have been on 2 river cruises before......one on Uniworld and the other on AMA. I enjoyed both of them very much. I just booked my first one with Tauck on the Esprit 10 nights on the Seine😃 I have been wanting to take a cruise on The Seine for a long time now and it will be my first time visiting Paris too.. Any tips would be greatly appreciated! This is for the summer and yes, I know it can be hot at that time of year. That is ok with me. Thanks😃
  10. Don't ask me why it took me a week to change my mind but I just put a deposit down for a 10 night cruise on The Seine with Tauck Tours😃 It is for July. More $ than the first one I was looking at but it is for 3 extra days....7 on that one.....10 on this one. I was on the phone with the nice rep for about an hour. I know Tauck and they get excellent reviews and also waive the Single Supplement on my cabin category. I have never taken a tour with them but know people who have and they give them very high marks. I will need to find a hotel for one night pre-cruise......Kat, did you mention something about where you stayed in Paris? I would have booked the hotel through the cruise line but that was WAY HIGHER than I want to spend. I am happy with my decision😃
  11. I think every one of us is different and some folks will never do a cruise line tour while others think it is the best way. Personally, I sail solo and unless there is an active roll call (SS roll calls are not very) and you can find others to share a tour with? I book my excursions through SS. I normally pick one that is included in the price, although I have booked ones that are extra $. It also depends on the itinerary. Example, I sailed to the Caribbean in January and didn't book a single tour....private or through SS. I knew the ports well enough that if had wanted to get off the ship, I would have just walked around. But when going overseas? It is just easier for me to book through SS and I have found most of my choices more than acceptable. Going to Greece and Turkey next month. Booked my excursions through SS and hopefully will enjoy them too.
  12. Hi, regarding your stateroom question. The BIGGEST cabins are suites. I think most of the other cabins are all basically the same size. And keep this in mind, you will be offer the Riverboat every day for almost the entire day. So unless ya'll need lots of extra space? You can probably save quite a bit of $ by booking a regular cabin. I sailed AMA back in 2016 so it has been a long time but I do remember having a wonderful cruise.😀mine was called TULIP TIME........Amsterdam round trip.
  13. This is just a suggestion but you might pop over to the "Fashion Forum" and ask the same question. There are ALOT of folks over there who post all about shoes with lots of good information😀
  14. Hi Randy, that has to be a country thing because we no longer have to be tested when cruising out of here. I didn't get a test in January either.
  15. Hi Randy, the last part of your post actually made me laugh.......years and years ago my Dad used that same calling thing LOL..........they must have been from the same generation.😀
  16. Hi Melody, I actually had no white jeans left after cleaning out. So after my drop off I went to our favorite store😀....I got a new pair of jeans and 3 new tops. One is on order so should be getting it sometime next week. Chico's jeans always fit me so well!!!!
  17. Hi Randy, years ago I sailed from Pt Canaveral twice.......once on the very old Sovereign of The Seas (she has been scrapped too). and the other time on Enchantment of the Seas. I don't know if she is still around. Both are/were Royal ships. The easy part for me? It is only about 2-2.5 hours to drive from here to the port. Cocoa Beach is actually nice but we have beaches here too LOL.......
  18. Just want to say I am thinking about Sharon. I know Southern Calif has gotten 6.5 feet of snow......(probably more by now).......hope she and the family are all ok. Sharon, if you can check in with us, please do. Decided to do more spring cleaning.....this time it is clothing. My Condo is a 3 bedroom and in 2 of them are closets with clothing. I took 3 large garbage bags and omg......if I told you I had more than 20 pairs of pants/jeans that are all going to the local thrift store that is part of a local women's shelter. Some of the pants were too big by at least a size or size and 1/2.......others I haven't worn since I retired. That was 2019😮 I have a bunch of tops I need to do the same thing with and will take everything to the thrift store today. Usually I donate to Good Will but thought this is as good a charity (if not better).
