  1. I honestly would love to know how this happens. We have had it happen a couple of times. Once your email account gets messed up, things go from bad to worse. I quit trying to get our straightened out. I haven't gotten an email or snail mail offer from Royal in a very VERY long time. We just earn our offers onboard and don't worry about the monthlies.
  2. Bummer that this doesn't apply to onboard purchases. We accumulate a LOT of points with casino transactions.
  3. $70 PP discount for UDP but full price for Star Class ? That makes no sense.
  4. Poor Rhapsody. Disaster seems to follow her around !
  5. It seems to me that the cost of the Regent World cruise(s) is very reasonable for all that is included. We’re in the early stages of research but both the 2025 and 2026 Itineraries are very exciting and I don’t think the price is outrageous. For us, the first hurdle was vaccinations and that is a non-issue with Regent so we’re moving forward. Not ready to book yet but giving it serious consideration.
  6. I definitely would NOT recommend booking first and then trying to apply the discount, later. Back in "the day" it was much easier to do that than it is today. First of all, if you do that your booking would almost certainly be repriced at the current rate which would very likely be higher than when you originally booked the cruise. The $500 discount may actually be entirely erased by the increase in fare. Not assured, but very likely. Ideally, you would have purchased an open booking at Next Cruise on the same cruise where you were awarded the certificate, but obviously, that opportunity has passed. I recommend that you find a cruise you want to take and book it, using the value of the certificate, at the same time.
  7. I had an Oasis booking Christmas of last year which I repriced 13 times. No limit on how often/many times you can reprice....in the US, of course.
  8. We had Yen on B2B SC cruises on Anthem -Feb 2018. She is fabulous. At first she is a bit formal but once she gets to know you, she warms right up. She is very literal. She will do exactly what you say so make sure you clearly relate your wishes. She is fearless. She may be small but she can break through a solid line of people like a 250 lb linebacker ! You will be in excellent hands. Enjoy Quantum and the Star Class experience.
  9. We actually prefer the "Cheers" format to the old "lunch" format. I love how they now come in, say a few words, make a fake toast and then off they go. Having some junior officer (obviously having drawn the "short" straw) stuck at a table, looking and sounding as if he/she would rather be ANYwhere else, was uncomfortable to me. We had completely stopped going to the lunch but we now NEVER miss the Cheers.
  10. No matter what time my reservations say, if I want to eat at 6:45 I just show up at 6:30 and have never been turned away or had to wait more than 5 minutes. IMO the reservations are meaningless. Judst show up whenever you want to eat.
  11. Yes. Basically the same black-put periods. I don't recall the LA mentioning anything about black-out periods during the summer but holidays and new ships, for sure.
  12. Yes, I would definitely notify the LA as soon as you can to avoid unnecessary preparations. Chances are, the LA will already be looking for you ! LOL When do you expect to "turn" ?
  13. Good luck finding more than 1 specialty dining restaurant open for embarkation lunch. I have never seen more than 1 open. Normally that choice is Chops or Chops...but for some reason, the specialty restaurant open for embarkation lunch on Freedom is Giovanni's Kitchen. I too would prefer another option other than Chops (not particularly fond of steak for lunch - too heavy - I usually get some soup and something lighter than steak) but it's very difficult to find anything OTHER than Chops unless you're on an O/Q class which blows this entire theory up. Then there are usually some other options.
  14. I'm totally with you on the reflux. I cannot eat a big meal later in the evening. I'm better off just skipping it altogether. I'll accept that I am lucky. Wish I was that lucky in the casino !
  15. I like this plan. Over the years, we have gone from (on boarding day) fighting the WJ crowds to the Unlimited Dining Package (meaning a specialty meal upon boarding) BACK to fighting the WJ crowds finally to end up with a limited dining package + 2 BOGO meals throughout the week and a pre-purchased specialty dining meal on boarding day (which is your proposal). I am probably not the best model to follow as I absolutely loathe buffets and anything to do with buffets so almost anything is preferable to the WJ to me. We found that the UDP is just TOO much food but with a nice quiet meal on boarding day and then some specialty dining sprinkled throughout the week, it is the perfect combination, IMO. Since you are in a JS, assuming you arrive at the terminal close to boarding time, you should have no problem whatsoever making a noon Chops meal. Is it significantly better ? Better than what ? The WJ ? Yes. Is it a 5 star steak house ? No. ...but having a quiet, enjoyable meal after the mania of boarding is a nice reprieve. By the time you finish your meal it is likely that the rooms will be ready or nearly ready. It's a nice way to pass the time.
  16. I guess we are either extremely lucky or just not very particular b/c we have had nothing but good experiences with MTD - both pre and post-COVID. Granted, we always make the earliest reservation we can b/c we are generally early eaters but aside from a very short wait, we have always been seated promptly. Also, we are not particular about our servers. I have never really understood the obsession with having the same servers night after night. I have no real interest in making small talk and I have never realized any advantage of having the same servers. I don't mind having the same servers but I certainly don't have any objection to a new seat on any given night.
  17. Yes, I knew the casino comps get points (these are the vast majority of our cruises) but thought I remembered that there was some issue with the pinn comps. Glad I upgraded a little bit. Thanks, @Merion_Mom for that info.
  18. Yippee ! Sounds like they were expecting you and will take care of you for your upcoming cruise, too ! So glad it’s all coming together. The comp cruise is an ocean view balcony. Of course, you can upgrade it if you choose. We had a specific room in mind so we paid a few bucks (less than $100 I believe) to upgrade to a slightly higher category of OV balcony. The one question I forgot to ask (and I’m sure someone on here will know) is if we had not upgraded would we still have gotten C&A points ? I think the answer is “yes” but there were some rumblings a while back about not receiving C&A points on comped cruises. Not sure how that finally resolved.
  19. Not true. We never play slots and receive casino comps - both instant and monthlies.
