  1. We led similar lives....2 years of Latin helped when I became an RN & 4 years as a phone operator for Pacific NW Bell.
  2. Thx...totally different than what we were offered.....Mexican St tacos everyday & I don't remember what else. Maybe dependent on the itinerary...ours was the Hawaii/Tahiti, etc. one.
  3. Probably a minor ? for you....why doesn't the MDR lunch menu change? We did the 35 day cruise last Feb/March & only did the MDR a couple of times for that reason.
  4. @dfish My original surgery check in time was 9:30, moved to 11:40 & ended up being 05:40.....& needed the 2nd Hibiclens shower prior. Yes, I did go to bed but debated about it. Good luck tomorrow!
  5. @JazzyV For now you can remove me from the rotation...getting around the house without the walker, decreasing the pain meds...just keeping on till I see the surgeon Jan.3. @StLouisCruisers - so far the only tour I've arranged looks like the one you showed pics of....it was one of the best tours we've done. We much prefer private tours.
  6. Or even being in Puerto Vallarta across from the mall with a pair of glasses with a broken nose piece - thankfully a jewelry store did a quick fix for me, but lesson learned to bring a spare pair.
  7. @JazzyV glad you have a diagnosis - now comes the hard part....finding a dr that has availability, aptitude & accepts your insurance.
  8. @dfish - beautiful quilt! Good luck to those of you with medical appointments/procedures tomorrow - hope they provide some answers & ideas as to how to proceed & treat to give you some modicum of relief!
  9. Update on my pain/recovery....pain is maybe a very strong 8 when I try to get up or down from a chair, still having spasms in both upper legs - getting better at logrolling. Once I'm on my feet walking, using a walker, pain is 4-5 which I think is acceptable for having had surgery 7 days ago. Again, thanks for your prayers & well wishes...now if somebody would do my Christmas cards...
  10. To those of you with spine issues, proceed cautiously before jumping on the surgery bandwagon...5 days later I still can't urinate & I'm having horrendous muscle spasms in my right groin/ leg...hope this is all worth it....being discharged today.
  11. Yep..OT was here this morning & PT is coming in about an hour. I ambulated maybe 6-8 ft with a walker. I'm a retired ortho floor RN so I pretty much know the drill but not the discharge stuff.
  12. @Quartzsite Cruiser Can't reply about my pain yet...managed to sleep some overnight but still need help turning. OT is coming in a couple of hours - don't know why.
  13. In my room around 12:30....I'm hurting but that's to be expecred. Thanks for the prayers & well wishes! You all are the greatest unmet support group!
  14. Just a quick request.... spine surgery (lumbar laminectomy & fusion) tomorrow....prayers would be greatly appreciated. TIA!
  15. We were CO & in a Neptune last Feb/March on the K & didn't get any of the things you mentioned. We did like CO for dining-- easier to hear in a less noisy environment except for a couple of nights when a 4-some (who I think had had their own happy hours before coming) were a little loud & obnoxious.
  16. Close -- Surgery is at Swedish Ortho Institute on 1st Hill in Seattle & the Silver Cloud hotel is a couple of blocks away. Stayed there when hubby had surgery----it's an ok hotel but a little pricy for the area & parking in their garage is $40/day.....crazy!! & the on-site restaurant leaves a lot to be desired as well.
  17. Just got a call from the surgeon's office....instead of a 9:30 check-in on Monday, now it's 5:40 ---- UGH!!! I'm not a morning person & throw in the fact that I need to do a 2nd Hibiclens shower in the morning----do I even need to go to bed & try & get some sleep? The good news is it'll be over sooner.
  18. When we had all that rain last week I told hubby we needed our gutters cleaned --- our lawn guys came out Friday & did it ---- I'm SO glad!
  19. I played Squeaky Wheel today, too.....surgery is scheduled for next Monday but so far no info as to the blood draw, type & screen & EKG the surgeon wanted done pre-op. At least 5 voice mails left to the various #s that have called me over the last week....finally got a 3 call backs -- 2 of which actually gave me some info & 1 of those is calling me back after she talks to the dr. I was getting a little nervous since it's getting close.
