Port Canaveral Florida Scooter Rental
SilkySal replied to PrincessElite's topic in Royal Caribbean International
For me, most people have been courteous and attempt to move out of the way for me or hold the elevators doors for me because they close very quickly; however, there are a few who jump in front of the scooters or wheelchairs to get into an elevator first, even when I've gotten there first and waited awhile. That does not happen very often though. I can walk but not far or stand for very long, so, while on the larger ships, I am glad to have my scooter if I feel the need to use it. -
Port Canaveral Florida Scooter Rental

If you have a disabled license plate and a ramp attachment on your vehicle to carry your equipment to the port terminal, you will be allowed to park in a handicapped parking space at no charge (in case you do want to bring your own equipment). I will have my own scooter on board the Mariner of the Seas leaving PC on 10/28/23; will you be on Mariner as well? Yes, we have seen the rental scooters are right at the terminal where you will be boarding the ship. Welcome to Cruise Critic! -
So sorry @DEBCAT65 - safe travels home!

Which cruise and why? Help me decide
SilkySal replied to colesc15's topic in Royal Caribbean International
I agree with some others that I would choose more nights on the Oasis. Maybe you could upgrade to a balcony (if you want) or bid on a different cabin during the Royal Up program (within 30 days for some). Happy cruising! -

And each room steward can each check their assigned cabins, so more hands on deck for a quicker process. -
Adventurer of the Seas - Suite Class Perks
SilkySal replied to RCruisecontrol's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We'll be on Adventure several times in the upcoming months. I don't see any real benefit for the Suite perks on Adventure, so am not interested, unless I happen to win a Royal UP bid for a lot less $$. However, I would love to have the suite experience on an Oasis class ship! -

St. Paddy's day onboard celebration?
SilkySal replied to queenfrostine22's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Many years ago, we cruised with a few Irish folks and enjoyed watching the men walk through the Promenade in full Irish garments while playing bagpipes!! It was soooooo cool! Maybe we'll get to see that again on our March, 2025 cruise! Cheers! If Ireland doesn't have green beer or cook corned beef on St Pat's Day, how about Irish stew with fresh breads? That would be delicious! -
We've reserved tables for 10 in MTD before and everything worked out fine. I link all of our reservations together, pre-reserve all dining times around 6:30-6:45pm, and, once on board, stop to see the dining room manager to arrange our table for us every night, same time, usually 6:30-6:45pm. Very easy. We have another group going with us in March, 2025 and we are now up to 14 people, so I will link our reservations together for MTD, pre-reserve preferred dining times, and, once on board, will arrange to have 2 tables close together and have people switch tables if they want. The dining room managers have been very accommodating for us in the past. It does take some time for me to do all of this but I've gotten pretty good at it, and I enjoy doing it for our friends! A good TA can do the exact same thing and may be a bit quicker than I am! LOL! Happy cruising!

She still hasn't told us which kind of suite; if a JS, she won't be in the suite lounge.😉
-
By type of suite, @OCSC Mike meant, is it a JS, GS, OS or RS?
-
Yep, that does not sound right to me either. I would call to confirm that you indeed have a guaranteed balcony room; then, ask them the Royal Up question, as well.
-
Maybe the upcoming hurricane has something to do with it? Of course, I would think that might only affect the itinerary, not the menu. Just a silly thought, I guess!🙄

Royal Caribbean Cocktail Recipes
SilkySal replied to PG_Cruiser's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Anyone know of a booklet with all of these great recipes? If not, I may have to start one for myself! Thanks for all of the great drinks recipes! I don't think our cruise is long enough to be able to try them all but I'll give it a go!😬🍹 -
how wide are the doors on a Balcony on Wonder
SilkySal replied to molsonschooner's topic in Royal Caribbean International
See my post #8 about the scooter fitting between the bed, if closest to the door, and the wall. You won't want to pick up that scooter every time you go into and out of your room. Don't know about your wife's scooter, but mine is pretty heavy to pick up. I can only walk short distances as well and, if on a bigger ship, I am grateful to have my scooter. Best of luck and happy cruising! -

SilkySal replied to molsonschooner's topic in Royal Caribbean International
For the balcony or between bed and wall? I assume you mean the balcony, which you have to step over if not in an accessible cabin. Maybe the distance is wider on the newer ships. We were on the Vision in a standard balcony cabin and my scooter would not fit between the bed, closest to the door, and the wall. -

SilkySal replied to molsonschooner's topic in Royal Caribbean International
The problem we had with a regular balcony cabin was not the width of the door but, because the bed was closest to the door vs the balcony, we could not drive the scooter between the bed and the wall, and DH had to take off the battery pack (heavy) and we both had to lift the scooter passed the bed to put it into our room and onto the couch. I resorted to using my cane that week, so we didn't have to do that all week. Now, we only book accessible cabins because I have trouble with prolonged standing and prefer to sit in a shower chair while shampooing my hair. Plenty of space for your scooter in an accessible cabin. If you don't have an accessible cabin, I would try to find out where the bed is located in your cabin and, if it's closest to the door, check the width between the bed and the wall. Good luck and happy cruising! Cheers! -
Mariner of the Seas, Kennedy Space Center excursion
SilkySal replied to jerick's topic in Royal Caribbean International
Since we don't know the date of your cruise, this question may be hard to answer correctly. I suggest that you go to the roll calls below for Mariner of the Seas, find your cruise date, and ask your fellow cruisers that question. Good luck! Cheers! https://boards.cruisecritic.com/forum/179-mariner-of-the-seas-roll-calls/ -
Mariner embarkation MDR lunch
SilkySal replied to RyderJ201's topic in Royal Caribbean International
We'll be on the Mariner in October, so won't know until then. If you want to know sooner, go to the roll calls for Mariner of the Seas and see if someone who has come back from their cruise can answer that question. -
Want to rent my first scooter for Oasis.
SilkySal replied to Truluv's topic in Disabled Cruise Travel
Yes, you can take a scooter off of the ship, down the pier, and anywhere in or out of the port area but be warned not to leave the scooter unattended due to possible theft while off of the ship. The only problem could be the inability to get the scooter off at the tender ports. -

Mine was $332.00 but for a 9-night cruise.
