  1. You have it right Hank. It is a true public health emergency but some media and politicians seem to be afraid of not being woke if they state that the cases are concentrated among gay men who have multiple partners. There is a vaccine but not enough of it because probably was not profitable to produce large quantities. As it is now should not be an issue on cruises.
  2. Monkeypox has been concentrated among men who have sex with multiple men. So that is where the management should be concentrated. Educating that group. The monkeypox vaccince should be targeted to those in that group. I am not in that group and have all had two smallpox vacinations but the health system must be mobilzed to nip the outbreaks in the bud.
  3. Tobacco Bay and Church Bay. Tobacco Bay has facilities and Church Bay has none. if you have your own gear I recomend Church Bay if the surf is not too rough. As far as jellyfish if you are worried about the Man o War. they were around a lot later than usual this year but the latest reports are they seem to be gone for the season. If you mean real jellyfish. the Man o War are not jellyfish, the ocean is full of jellyfish, whearever you are. When snorkeling I have often seen schools of them. They are easy to spot because they are in swarms. Just snorkel away from the swarm.
  4. I check on Wikipedia. Ship tonnage, length, draft, decks, year built, passenger capacity, crew capacity. etc. Pretty simple..........
  5. The ship didn't hold their passports. If passengers are missing when the ship is set to depart ship's security is sent to look for the passengers passports in their cabin. They will open the safe. Then the passports are handed to the port agent.
  6. I turn off automatic time zone changes when traveling for several reasons. When flying I want the time on my watch to be the time it is when arriving if it is a long flight. So I turn off automatic so the watch mirrors the iPhone which I also have automaic turned off and st the watch to the local arrival time. On a cruise ship in Airplane mode the WiFi might come up with the wrong time. Also on some itineraries ship time is not the same as local time. So it has worked out better to change the times manually on cruise ships.
  7. It is not an issue as you say but but there is an exception as far as international roaming. Watch series 5 or later will call local emergency services. No charges though if your watch calls Emergency services and you don't have to be signed up with domestic plan. You only have to have a GPS + Cellular Apple Watch.
  8. You don't need a taxi tour of only St. George. It is so small. A walking tour is best. If you mean the the east end which includes St.George I would start in Hamilton. The easiest place though to find drivers who will do taxi tours is the Dockyard. You might have to call the taxi company for one starting in St. George or Hamilton. We used to have a list of drivers with whom a pre arrangement could be made but it seems that those drivers have retired or whatever.
  9. If it was posted on a Facebook group I don't see why you would take getting an opinion on the idea seriously. Facebook cruise groups are mostly run by travel agents who promote themselves. I have seen the idea of adults only cruises floated every few years on Cruise Critic. A month ago someone floated it on the Carnival board for a couple of their ships. Carnival seems to me to be the least likely cruise line to make any ships adults only. I think there could be a place for Adults only on a smaller boutique cruise line but not in the mass market. Personally I choose on destinations and experience. If booked adults only that would not be the reason. Virgin sounds intresting and I possibly would book it because it is different but I don't care is they have children cruising on their ships or not.
  10. Here is the link to the roll call. Click it and you will be where you can post your tour. Click on the reply to this topic button to post.
  11. You posted start a new topic. Do not do that unless you are starting a new roll call. You did not post on the roll call. On the roll call would say “reply”, not start a new topic. Click on the roll call title to be open the roll call.
  12. On Oasis class you hardly know you are sea. And the food to feed the horde of passengers is meh. Cruising on a shopping mall at sea is hardly relaxing.
  13. It is not a generalization. There are limited ports than can take Oasis class ships. Also they are too big for tendering and the ports include a private island or two. It is not about the destination for those ships. They do the same ports over and over.
  14. It says on the Bermuda website either electronic or paper. Have you recieved it yet? "If approved, the Quarantine Authority will email your approved Travel Authorisation. All travellers must have an electronic or paper copy of the Travel Authorisation to show at embarkation along with a copy of their negative pre-departure test. If you do not receive your Travel Authorisation email, check your junk/spam folder to make sure the Travel Authorisation is not there."
  15. You didn’t post it on your roll call. You posted it as a new topic.
  16. They will have schedules at the visitor information Centre at the Dockyard. They also have pocket maps. I have seen them on some ships but not on others.

    Jellyfish

They do. The lifeguards pick them up with gloves and a net.
  18. Your travel agent is wrong about the requirement coming out of the blue. It has been in effect for months. All cruise passengers have had to fill out the Travel Authorization since cruises restarted in 2021. She should have known about it and certainly not mentioned it in passing. When she says not to complete it now, you could not complete is now. Sailings are not added until 30 days before embarkation. So that would be in about ten days for you.
  19. I don’t think Carnival has it exactly right. The Bahamas does not require testing for vaccinated visitors. It does require testing for unvaccinated visitors. That may be causing confusion.
  20. Here is some trivia. Picked Onion, Frog and Onion, Hog Penny, and a couple of other restaurants are owned by the same company.
  21. The satellite radios antenna is designed to be mounted outside on a roof. Then it would have to be connected by a cable to the receiver. The receiver would have to be connected to a speaker. Seems there would be a few problems setting up on a ship. You can't put the antenna on a roof. Some mention has been made of the balcony but if the antenna is on the balcony the reciever would have to be in the room plugged into the mains right? Is there some way to connect the reciever to the antenna other than by a cable? I don't think so. Seems like the best solution for listening to satellite radio on a ship would be over WiFi.
  22. A lot of people have applied late and they all got approved. Some did call when they had not gotten approval close to the sailing and then got an email right away but I don't know if that call actually was needed. The sailings out of the New York area Bermuda had people at the ports so they facilitated passengers who had not done the TA. Some arrived not knowing about it. Cruise lines have varied in sending out info. I don't know if they were or are doing that out of Fort Lauderdale. I think if you don't recieve it by Friday and call from Fort Lauderdale seems like you would be okay.
  23. It is still a delay. They do ask that the application be filed out right away when it becomes available at 30 days. I do think you will get the approval shortly but if you do not want wait you will have to call. There are ways to make inexpensive international calls. I have used Skype to call Bermuda local numbers.
