  1. As a new Bagel consumer, I am learning. My first were Thomas' Blueberry Bagels, I buttered them after being toasted, and they were good. This morning, I had my first Thomas' Plain Bagels, buttered. and they were OK. Would adding some Strawberry Preserves or Orange Marmalade improve there taste? They just seemed so "plain" in taste with butter.
  2. There must have been quite a difference when she was Royal Viking Sun, particularly for dining. Prinsendam earned a special place in my memory for the best Christmas/New Year's Cruise for my traveling and companion that we had. The entertainment staff outdid themselves on New Year's Eve when we celebrated the New Year twice. We were sailing in the AST zone, but, a big screen TV with live music was set up in the Ocean Bar. We watched the "Ball Drop" in Times Square at EST and the party went on and on and--. I went to our stateroom around 2:00 A.M., AST, on January 1. I didn't care for what I thought was an inconvenient access to the aft pool deck area.
  3. I am interested in knowing what they are. When I attended a show in pre-Covid, a Bahama Mama (where a Rum bottle must have been "waved" over the glass with the bartender chanting "transfer"), another drink with "alcohol"--whatever that was--and a virgin drink were available.
  4. Positive expansion of the facility since I was there in 2020! Meraviglia was docked at Terminal F with my car in Garage G. The Porter and MSC shore staff gentleman did that for me and both were well rewarded. The distance was not as far as yours, but, their service was very, very much appreciated by me!
  5. Most of the time, this has been my experience. Although, some of my mutual funds have done as well as, or better, than my own account. As for fees, one of the reasons I appreciate my advisor is that when I want to make a trade in my own self-directed account, he will transfer those shares to my managed account, sell or buy from that account which is commission free, and then transfer the new shares to my self-directed account. Never expected that to happen when I began working with him. But, it has. I have not received such offers since mid-March, 2020. I do receive such offers for pre-planning funeral arrangements, however. Haven't attended those. (How about a glass of Arsenic wine with your dinner, sir?) 😀
  6. No little packets? Another example of "going Green" that some cruise lines are doing.
  7. Whether tours will be available at the dock, I don't know. Traveling so far to visit this part of the world, I recommend you do some touring. If you dock at Ushuaia, how can one not visit Tierra del Fuego National Park? A train trip to The End of the World was fun and interesting. From Punta Arenas: Torres del Paine National Park; a visit to Nao Victoria Museum; a visit to Maggiorino Borgatello Museum; a visit to the Plaza de Armas From Puerto Momtt: I took a tour called Puerto Momtt, Puerto Varas, and Frutillar Highlights which is an area where German settlers arrived and has the flavor of a Black Forest area in Germany. Rather unique, I thought, and scenic. Good choices of tours to visit Penguin colonies. My visit was in the Falkland Islands and I did enjoy it even though I came back with muddy clothes and shoes. Very friendly people live in the Falklands! After the tour I did in Ushuaia, I did wander around the community and it is an interesting place to "wander". Between Chile and Argentina, I thought Chile to be more tourist friendly.
  8. Was this the MS Patriot of United States Lines? (Which was a subsidiary of American Classic Voyages.) Since it had to have been an all American crew, they would enjoy such food! But, not all the time, I expect.
  9. What is that method? How do you remove the egg so that it is intact if it is properly cooked? Use a slotted spoon?

  11. There were at least two different Hop On/Off bus routes that I used and visited many sites. The Orchid Garden is worth a visit. And, if there for an overnight, the Night Zoo was quite an interesting experience. Raffles Hotel is worth a brief visit, but, not really tourist friendly just for a "look-see". If there, one must have a Singapore Sling at the Long Bar. A place in Singapore where littering (peanut shells) is allowed.
  12. I am not familiar with Zealandia and had to google it. The cable car and the botanical gardens on your own: yes. You ought to be able to do those. Zealandia? Based on what I read, I doubt that you could include it in your day. You want to have plenty of time to enjoy the Gardens. A tour that combines both the Gardens and the cable car might allow you enough time to visit other attractions in the CBD and along the waterfront. The Wellington Museum and Museum of New Zealand Te Papa are easy to do on one's own after a tour to the Gardens and the cable car. My ship provided a shuttle (I think it was free) between the pier and the CBD.
  13. WOW! If the crab cake was packed with Crab without a lot of filler, probably, it was worth it. My grocery's seafood department sells almost a pure crab cake and they are not inexpensive.
  14. Particularly sailing in the channel that leads to Hubbard Glacier, I find the fog/mist an extra added attraction. A cruise memory of mine was sitting in a deck chair, bundled up, as we sailed out to sea after visiting the Glacier. Out of the fog, a ghostly shape began to appear as another ship was passing us on her way to the Glacier.
  15. Victoria is an underappreciated port on an Alaskan cruise. Most of the ships arrive later in the afternoon or early evening and many guests don't have adequate time to appreciate what the city has to offer. Butchart Gardens is well known and is a feature for those interested. But, the museums are interesting and the opportunity to enjoy a civilized Tea is missed by many.
  16. I have used Luggage Direct when I have sailed on HAL and it does work as advertised. Saves hassle at the airport from where one departs.
  17. Yes, it is a good mix. HH at the Ocean Bar, sitting at the bar, there have been an interesting and pleasant mix of couples and solos and single cruisers traveling with another single. Fixed dining: usually the DR Manger somehow arranges an interesting table with a mix of guests.
  18. On recent HAL cruises, I have asked. It is not available is what I have been told by Front Office staff.
  19. I never witnessed this by the pool, but on Rotterdam V in 1970/71, such was held in the Queen's Lounge as I recall.
  20. Who is this gentleman? He needs to recognized for being guest friendly. And, particularly for helping guests that wish to learn more about their cruising experience.
  21. I regret to learn that the OP has tested positive. Good wishes for a negative test ASAP!
  22. RISK is a game that I really enjoy! When my Brother and I would play it, he would end up winning most of the time, but, the game lasted much longer than 30 minutes! Great photos and narrative! Thanks for doing this.
  23. Well said! And these kids will grow up to wanting a more formal style of dining. When you were there age, did you prefer a Frisch''s Big Boy or a Rainbow Room at the Rockefeller Center? If they expect cruisers to pay the prices that they charge, this cruiser would expect a dining experience superior to one that could be found at Olive Garden or MCL Cafeteria. I am a potential SB cruiser that is shopping. MSC's Yacht Club fits me. Will Seabourn "fit"?
