  1. Tay definition, a river flowing through central Scotland into the Firth of Tay. 118 miles (190 km) long. (Also, it is an acronym for a chatbot created for 18- to 24- year-olds in the U.S.) Sorry, Dad. "Tayberries" (one word) are a cross between a raspberry and a blackberry
  2. It might happen... But, it is against NCL's policy! If you can talk your room steward into doing that, tip well, because you might be getting them reprimanded, or worse.
  3. If the ship actually docks at Taino Beach (and you walk through the welcome center to where the sandy area starts) it is about 1/2 - 3/4 mile, or so. You need to go through the shop on the left to get to that area.
  4. DH & I took a long break from cruising while our sons were tweens to 20's. In the "old days" we could get escargot in the MDR. That doesn't seem to be the case since we came back in the 2010's.
  5. "Free" if you don't count the taxes, port fees, and DSC! (Which seems to upset people, because it's not actually "free", but is a nice savings.)
  6. I can only imagine your reaction when your "Trifle" arrived! THAT could give a whole new meaning to "Don't Trifle with me!"
  7. You will be told "NO" on NCL, as it is their policy to keep them locked!
  8. I forgot to mention that activities like origami are free!
  9. I could be completely wrong, however, I believe you sign-up for the Pilates classes once onboard. Also, the painting-by-you classes. As far as things like origami (and such) those sessions will be listed in the Freestyle Daily onboard the ship. For those, you just need to show-up in a timely manner, to the location listed.
  10. I have to agree with @vacation44! You keep me in🤣mode!
  11. When you are in the cruise terminal for check-in, you will be asked for the credit card that you will be using.
  12. "On Embarkation day, I expect that the terminal will be fully staffed, so that everyone can get checked in and onboard as quickly as possible, this means that if the Haven or other dedicated stations are empty, they should help the regular passengers so as to move the line along. Have snacks and water for passengers if there is a delay in boarding." Nobody addressed this, so: NCL does not have their employees staffing the port check-in process! Those folks are employed by the port (or some agency contracted to the port). While you might see some actual NCL officers/employees around, they are trying to get everything coordinated towards disembarking the previous cruise, so the new cruise can move forward towards embarkation. Just like many businesses across the US, there might be staffing shortages, employee illnesses, traffic delays, etc. There are vending machines and water fountains in every port that we have been through, (some have had beverage station(s) set-up). Havens and Suites do have food and beverage available at each port.
  13. Your bid (overall cost for all occupants) is only the first 2 people.
  14. Club Balcony Suites are not "Suites". Why NCL keeps "suite" in the name is an ongoing question. The CBS is a slightly larger Balcony room with most of the space being used for the bathroom. For the added cost, a few "perks" are added.
  15. It has varied for us, but generally, about 4-5 days prior to the cruise.
  16. My apologies! I forgot to add: all others can log-in (or call NCL) at 120 days prior!!!
  17. Depending on your room type (Suite/Haven can book at 130 days prior), Platinum and above status (as well as those in Club Balcony suites), can book at 125 days prior. The most notable problem is the booking is capped at six nights of dining! Any other dinners, or tweaking that is needed, can be done once onboard.
  18. You only received Priority security check-in if you have some sort of status that is listed on your cruise documents. Being in a Suite or a Haven Suite qualifies! If you have PRIORITY on your document, look for the "Haven" sign, or ask one of the port workers, who should point you in the correct direction.
  19. On the Jewel, the sizes of Balcony rooms range from 200-289 SF w/balconies of 38'-54'. They are on decks 8,9,10. Club Balcony Suites are only on deck 11, noisier from above, 272-416 SF (or 272-285 SF - for wheel chair accessible) with 54' balconies. Here is the link to the floor plans: https://www.ncl.com/cruise-ship/jewel/deck-plans (change decks as needed)
  20. NCL's OBC is only useable while onboard the ship (for which it was purchased or given).
  21. Well, you got me curious! I checked dailies that I have still (only as far back as January 2014) and found no evidence of that being the case. Perhaps, prior to 2014?!!!
  22. If you want to utilized the Spa, Yes, you would need to purchase a Spa Pass. Sometimes, they offer Day Passes to the Spa (but possibly not at all). I would decide between the two different passes depending on the season and the itinerary. On a cold season/itinerary, I would only purchase the Spa Pass. On a port intensive itinerary, I would not bother with either, unless you are staying on the ship during ports of call.
