  1. Correct but when you factor in that Allstate lately hasn't had the ecards (or now any cards) you have to spend 1.75 per 100 dollar card or 5 dollars for a 500 card for shipping you can make up the approximately 12 dollars for a year of AARP really fast now. And the last cards Allstate had were now only 8 percent off for Carnival. I pay for entire cruises with gift cards so I bought the membership for 5 years for 64 dollars and then BofA had a deal for 8 dollars back so it was 56 dollars. Plus AARP has a lot of other restaurant gift cards etc to offer.
  2. I know what you mean. I really liked their 1000 dollar ecard. So much easier to give my big box travel agent fewer codes and pin numbers. I have 670k points and nowhere to use them.
  3. It is hard to harbor a guess at this point because Their rewards program appears to be rudderless at this time. Many have jumped ship for AARP which has none of these problems with stocking Carnival cards.
  4. I do this also on most of my bookings. For those who use a PVP I don't think they are allowed to make a booking with a TBA as the second name. Also I don't think this can be done with a travel agent. If you call with any questions about a booking that has a TBA they will tell you that a name must be added. I book cruises a couple years out sometimes and don't have a clue who I will drag along 😉
  5. Any of the best rates are non refundable deposit. The past guest rate has gone the way of the dodo.
  6. The only way to pull that off is book directly through Carnival dot com.
  7. Something has to give but for now HA is booking cruises showing 3 different ships at HMC along with Carnival showing the Magic there. First come first served? A duel amongst captains? Who knows 🤣
  8. If you go their website it indeed does appear they will be there on the 7th and the 9th. They have some quirkly scheduling where you can book either of two different legs of the cruise or an entire longer one. It shows the 7th at HMC then returns to Ft Lauderdale on the 8th, then back to HMC on the 9th.
  9. The way prices are going it seems to pay to book as early as possible now. I booked a cruise on the Pride in April 2022 for March of 2024 for $1621 for an extended balcony. The rate is now $2534 which is an increase of $913 dollars 🤢
  10. It is really lame that Carnival hasn't fixed this yet. They said on Heald's page it would be back soon two months ago. The question is, why did they remove the most fundamental thing about the booking? It was a nice summary in easy to download/read/print format. I complained via email to guest services etc and no replies at all.
  11. $1300 too buku for me for a room that is about 4 1/2 feet wider, but each to their own. You could probably book the kids their own interior room for the 1300 and then have two bathrooms.
  12. Looking at Holland America's website indeed it shows Rotterdam, Eurodam, and Amsterdam all at HMC on Dec 9th 2024.
  13. You need to set up your account with your VIFP number to see your cruises. So you will probably need a new email and then start from scratch with your number. Then you should be able to see all your cruises. It sounds like you are currently logging in under your husband's VIFP number and not yours.
  14. That would be wise to take the late one. Panorama been having propulsion issues lately. You need a margin off error because you are supposed to be at airport 2 hours before to be safe.
  15. I fear Allstate is employing a classic Carnival tactic. Degrade the product so it isn't used much and then get rid of it because of "lack of demand" . They aren't trying too hard to keep it desirable. No ecards, whole categories disappearing in an instant. The dining category has a whopping 5 cards available at small discounts which are further reduced by the higher shipping charges now. I once happily used Verizon rewards until it went downhill, then Allstate and AARP. AARP became members only so I was using Allstate but can't really make it work now without ecards. So I bit the bullet and bought AARP for a good deal and haven't looked back.
  16. This could cause a lot of speculative buying and lead to a lot of frustrated people. I highly doubt Carnival would turn bookings into a commodities like market.
  17. Carnival allows 12 drinks per person so the Carnation breakfast drinks which are in cartons won't be an issue, bring them. You can also bring a small cooler with the yogurts and I highly doubt Carnival would have an issue with this either.
  18. On the Spirit I asked for slots because that is what you have to ask for to get the 25 in cash but they credited the gambling money to the slots account so I asked if I could change to table games and they let me. So it is hit or miss which ships will dole out cash now. It worked out good though, I won ten dollars on craps on first bet, then lost the ten free dollars on next throw. Then had to bet the remaining 15 on the pass line because the table minimum is now ten. A guy got hot and passed four times in a row yielding me another 60. I ended up with 70 "real" dollars from the 25 in casino action. Another time I only got 5 dollars back on my 25 in play money.
  19. I took the Panorama down and at Mazatlan I also walked to the lighthouse in Nov. Wonderful views and a free excursion!
  20. Money well spent. It seems Allstate has lost their way. Egift cards gone the majority of the time now, shipping for physical cards has gotten expensive. The current physical cards are not even listed in the travel tab, you have to search for Carnival just to find them now. I like to buy the ecards through Allstate but they have made it next to impossible lately. AARP was worth every cent and I got a deal for 5 years.
  21. Since I started cruising in 2007 the vast majority of Mexican Riviera cruises by Carnival did Cabo first. It is only recently that it got changed around. I am guessing there is a financial reason for this, but don't what it is. I have done this route literally 10 times always Cabo first. Maybe if they are late returning to Long Beach enough they will change back.
  22. Yeah I was concerned it was gone, as I haven't tried it out yet. Looks pretty fast.
  23. I am going on the Panorama in Sept. It is a nice ship, more crowded than the Spirit class but decent. Found it to be much better than the Radiance, where I was bouncing off people everywhere!
