  1. I found this on Celebrity's website under FAQs. For all Celebrity ships:• Dial: 1-877-266-1020(applicable country code)+1-321-953-9002 (outside the United States)• Dial the appropriate number above. • The caller will be asked to enter the credit card number and expiration date. • The system obtains a real-time hold for $79.50 ($7.95 x 10 minutes) and initiates the call to the ship. The $79.50 hold is the maximum that will be held. Actual charges will be calculated based on the number of minutes used on the call. • A voice prompt directs the caller to the specific ship. • The call is connected to the ship. • The call rings through to the designated department onboard (Radio Station or Purser Desk). The call is then routed to the guest's stateroom. • The PBX monitors the call. If there is no answer, the call will ring back at the designated department onboard (Radio Station or Purser Desk) and a written message is taken for delivery to the guest's stateroom.
  2. Hi Patty, I have NO regrets about no landings. We saw penguins up close and personal in Punta Tombo (I forget which port stop, but it wasn't Falklands) which was an excursion and we did pay extra for it. We went with a private group and we beat the Celebrity buses so no crowds. We kept to the paths but the penguins can't read signs so they just wandered everywhere. We also had a couple of wonderful days in Buenos Aires before we left, we really enjoyed Montevideo, we shared a taxi with someone from our rollcall group when we were in Ushuaia. For us it was a perfect trip. It depends on what kind of trip you are looking for. My DH likes the "comforts" of the MDR and the nightly shows and late night dancing, so he would be bored on a small ship, even though they keep you busy all the time. It is also very, very expensive (for us anyway). We had a great time in all our ports and we loved the sea days. Alejandro Tortorelli was our CD and he kept us busy and entertained on all the sea days.
  3. Our most favourite so far was our Antarctica cruise on the Infinity. We love that ship and Antarctica was magical. Another favourite was the Panama Canal (full transit, again on Infinity). Norway (fjords) and Iceland were great as well (I think that was Eclipse - not our favourite ship but we like the smaller ones). Iceland is like a whole other world.
  4. Yikes! How rude of them. We've politely asked people if we can share their table, and vice versa. No problem unless they were waiting for the rest of their party. I hope you were able to finish your meal in peace.
  5. I've always found the best price to be far out. The only time it went down substantially was my upcoming repo cruise. I then looked at repricing my New Orleans cruise next year (which we booked a year or so ago) and it's pretty much sold out, so no deals there. If you feel it's a good price that you would be happy to pay if it didn't happen to go down, then you should go for it.
  6. We also do it old school style and leave each other post-it notes if necessary. Mostly we have some idea of where the other one is though. We highlight the activities we want to do in the daily so we just use stickies if one of us departs from the expected plan.
  7. The OP said the F&B manager said it needed to be pre-arranged. It sounds like they would have worked with the group if they'd had a heads-up. From various accounts I've read recently it sounds like some ships are understaffed or may be training new staff. They may not have been able to just whip the bar staff around to here and there on short notice.
  8. Those jobs and desk jobs, guest services, future cruise sales, maybe the gift shops (??) pay more than the "general labour" type jobs. We were waiting on shore for a tender once and started talking to a girl who worked in the kids club. She said it was a pretty good salary but not everyone who worked on the ship got that kind of salary. She also wasn't part of the tip pool.
  9. Your cabin will be slightly bigger than a regular balcony cabin. You also get priority debarkation at the end of the cruise and, I believe, a dedicated lounge to wait in. You will also be able to use the services of the Concierge who can deal with any issues you may have and help with dinner reservations, etc. I think the tote bag and robes are a bit nicer than regular cabins. If there is no tote bag, ask your steward. You get to keep that. You can't keep the robe, umbrella or binoculars. lol
  10. Over the last 3 years we've had to shift all of our cruises and we cancelled one. They were refundable deposits and we dealt with a rep at Celebrity. There was no charge whatsoever to change any of them.
  11. Pre-covid we always saw a sign on the desk at GS saying something like "We are sailing at full capacity. No extra cabins." Not exact wording. I guess a lot of people asked and they wanted to prevent big line-ups just so people could hear "no". If it's important to upgrade then you should probably do it ahead of time.
  12. Wow. I would not be happy to see that. We gladly tip extra to anyone who has gone above and beyond for us, whether it's the guy who makes sure my husband's GF pizza is perfect, or the server in AB who starts making the coffees for my husband the minute they see him enter. I wouldn't like to be "strongly encouraged" to leave set amounts for anyone. Did you leave the auto grats on? Just wondering if these envelopes are provided to those who have taken the auto gratuities off? If not, I would have some strong words for Celebrity if I found something like that in my cabin.
  13. With respect to the leaving of envelopes in the cabin, could it possibly be because so many people go to GS looking for them that they are just being proactive and leaving them just in case? To avoid line-ups at GS on the last day? I've never seen this, personally, but I just wonder if maybe that's why they are sometimes left. We bring our own small envelopes and write a little note on them. They are small enough to be tucked away discreetly, should anyone wish to be discreet about it. lol
  14. Who is expecting this?? As I and others have said, no Celebrity crew member will ever say that or make you feel like that. Keep the auto grats in place. You don't have to tip extra for anything you don't want to. That is the purpose of the daily auto gratuities. Don't remove the auto grats as it is the crew that suffers for it. Don't tip extra if you don't want to. You will still receive the same great service as everyone else. You seem to be looking for a complication where there is none.
  15. This doesn't sound like anything I've ever experienced on a Celebrity cruise. We do tip extra, and provide positive comment cards, to those individuals who've made our trip extra special. We've never been made to feel that anyone was expecting it, or that we would get crappy service if we didn't.
  16. Can't say about recently, but in the past some closed at midnight and there were a couple that were open "late". I'm assuming the martini bar and sky lounge. They probably stay open as long as there is a reasonable demand (i.e. I don't know if they would stay open till 4:00 a.m. for a lone barfly lol).
  17. You can leave it at Barrachina restaurant in Old San Juan. Check out their website. You can leave it there for the day and then wander around OSJ, check out the forts, etc. I haven't used it but many people recommend it and I see from the website that they still offer that service.
  18. I've had good and not-so-good on all ships, always in the MDR. There are some cruises where I ask if I should get "xyz or the lamb (or duck or beef)" and the waiter advises me accordingly. One cruise the lamb was the best ever. On another cruise it was the duck and on yet another the beef never disappointed. Maybe it depends on the supplier?
  19. The quality of GF pizza seems to vary from ship to ship and even on who is doing the actual making of it. My husband usually asks for one near the beginning of the cruise to test the "enjoyability". If it's great then he plans which days he will get it afterwards. If it's not great then he doesn't bother. The pizza-maker is often up there with waiters and stewards as far as getting extra tippage at the end of the cruise. He is very appreciative when they take the time to make a good pizza. lol My husband takes a digestive enzyme product called Gluten-ease. It helps if there is cross-contamination.
  20. You may not be able to book this close to sailing. You can go up to the spa right away when you board. Also, have you looked at the prices? It will be at least double what you pay on land. It will probably be awesome, but just be aware that it will be much more expensive.
  21. The M class are smaller ships. The concierge cabins are slightly bigger than regular veranda cabins on the M class. The S class ships are newer and sparklier and bigger. I don't mind them but I much prefer the smaller M class. It seems more cozy and intimate yet we are always able to find quiet places to hang out and chat or read and not see a bunch of people. The Silhouette is my favourite of the S-class ships I've been on.
  22. If you have fixed dining on your cruise docs then you can't just show up at Select. You can try asking the maitre'd when you board the ship, but I'm not sure if that would even work if you are part of an organized group. You can always ask. Otherwise, the answer would be no unless you "officially" have your dining time changed to Select.
  23. If it's the only cabin left then they probably would. I'm guessing no one else is looking for one this close to sailing. The Summit is an older ship and it is smaller than the S class ships. I prefer the M class over the S class though. I like the smaller ships.. In any event, I would always choose to sail longer for the least amount of money. 🙂
  24. I am biased as I love Celebrity and I love the Summit, so I would choose the Summit. I don't know much about accessible cabins but they may be slightly bigger? And have a walk-in shower. Knowledgable people may feel free to correct me on that. The Summit is smaller than the Silhouette but you will still have the same great Celebrity experience and a lovely crew. The Summit also has a thelassotherapy (sp?) pool which is very relaxing. Aside from that, is there an itinerary that is more appealing to you? If so, you should go with whichever that one is.
  25. What Blackshirt and Jim_Ian said. If it's something you want to do and it's a price you can afford then book it. On the last promotion like this we compared with our previously booked upcoming cruise (just before final payment) and it looked like we could get it for less. We contacted our Celebrity rep and we got it for almost $2,000 less, plus we got additional OBC. We looked at the cruise we have booked for next year and there are no savings to be had using the current promotion. Bottom line, book it and if the price goes down later then you may be able to take advantage of it and get a price reduction. In our experience the prices usually go up from what we've originally booked at. This is the first time we've ever had that kind of major savings.
