  1. I think you know the answer to that; but if a person just wants to try to clutter up an inbox, why not send a missive?
  2. Also, consider annual plans rather than individual trip plans if you anticipate traveling on a fairly regular basis.
  3. I've been following this discussion with interest and have wondered how the ITA Matrix works. As I understand it, Google Flights is a sub-set of the Matrix application with one significant feature (usually) added.... a fairly direct mechanism to access and purchase the fares without the assistance of a travel agent or one or more airline agents. My specific interest is a trip from Ottawa to Auckland with a return from Sydney for next year. I will be able to purchase this without problem from Air Canada and/or United and, as you might guess, spend a king's ransom on business class. So, my question is: if I can identify an itinerary in ITA Matrix at a favourable price with all the coding provided, what can I do with that?
  4. What you say may have some truth to it but I don't see how the shift in clientele has anything to do with Porter's on time performance. Additionally, I've used Porter on four round trip flights over the last year (two to EWR, two to FLL) and have not experienced substantial delays or lost luggage.
  5. I'm sure it's not new at all... just to me. I've no doubt that IMO/SOLAS and Flag State conventions and regulatory regimes have pretty carefully addressed this sort of thing over the years.
  6. I posted this question in my roll call for the upcoming Ascent TA (April) but thought I'd try here too in case somebody has recent experience/information they can share: I'm hoping somebody can help me so that I don't have to phone Celebrity and ask. I have (purchased using OBC in May, 2023) a Specialty Restaurant Trio package. For the life of me, I can't recall the details of what that package includes and how to go about using it. I can't find it anymore, maybe it has been quietly discontinued. Does anybody know about this package and have any suggestions on how I ought to go about putting it to use?
  7. Here is all the info you need. https://www.uber.com/global/en/r/airports/yul/
  8. Well now, there's something new. I had never thought of that although it's quite sensible. Is it just lifeboats or are life rafts (inflatables) part of that overall sectional capacity?
  9. My preference is a traditional open balcony/veranda but I like the IV well enough to keep going back; the total ship experience is important and, for me, E-class offers a superior one.
  10. Do it in your bathroom. Use a glass to transfer tap water into your water bottles.
  11. Yeah, I'm pretty sure I understand what you're inferring. Has nothing to do with what the poster is interested in doing/not doing as far as towels and bedding goes.
  12. I believe the class action was actually based on a couple of thousand people being bused around because of high water levels. In any event, I think the judgement was more about Scenic's failure to deliver on a luxury cruise experience and their unwillingness to compensate passengers. Really, would you sanguinely accept being bused around with no hint of compensation, disclaimers or not?
  13. Irrelevant to the stated desire about not having the steward touching the towels and bedding while onboard; an excellent opportunity to hijack the discussion into another tipping thread..... Bravo!
  14. Forget that, I was thinking about Celebrity.
  15. Air Canada is selling the itinerary. I plugged in YYZ and YOW for round trip to SIN and got a price of about CAD 10,800 (approximately USD 8,000. I figure Ontario to SIN is not all that much diferent than RDU to SIN for price comparison purposes. So, I'd say, on the face of things, USD 4,500 is a very good price for the trip at this time. How the poster adtually found these prices and could actually purchase tickets, I don't know.... just commenting on the pricing.
  16. You're not obligated to purchase the premium package. Phone Princess, tell them you do not drink alcohol. You will have to purchase the zero alcohol package and will lose out on prepaid grats, wifi and desserts! Up to you to figure out whether it makes sense to you.
  17. Sure, but what if they have a sap, club you unconscious, take your medallion and enter your cabin to steal your polident?
  18. I think you need to be onboard and connected to the system before you can do any of that.
  19. Recently, the difference in Terms and Conditions of purchasing goods and services 'offshore' has become a little more evident to me. I have been looking for flights to Australia from Canada and, naturally, Qantas is one airline I'm considering. When choosing potential flights, I am asked whether I want to book under Qantas (Australia) Ts & Cs or those of Qantas (Canada). The total fares are somewhat different. Of course, I don't appreciate the differences being offered and, I think, it would take an appreciable amount of effort/experience to understand the potential impact(s) of my choice. So, being an informed consumer can be a tricky business and pricing can be somewhat of a less than ideal criterion for making choices. Regulating travel through industry initiative(s) is not something I foresee happening given different government (nationalities) expectations.
  20. I'd say yes, but you had better check with Carnival before you finalize. Here is an excerpt from the insurance document (for Maryland).
  21. Your question was 'How are lots of people affording these prices?' I provided you with a plausible explanation/answer.
  22. Maybe it's because there are 10s of thousands of people with plenty of financial means that simply don't fit the bleak profile you've drawn.
