  1. How do you determine 'best value'? I sort of doubt the commonly accepted principle of accounting address cruise packages and pricing in any detail.
  2. I blame/credit Levi Strauss.
  3. If you arrive in T3 and need to connect to a Canadian destination (in T3), you will have to go through a security check, after clearing customs, to do this i.e LGW-YYZ-YYC (Westjet). On the other hand, if you arrive in T1 with a connection to a Canadian city, there is no security check after clearing customs i.e. LHR-YYZ-YYC. The discussion seems to have devolved into mixing YVR (original entry point) arrivals and YYZ arrivals.
  4. It's oversized. A bag that's 24x10x10 is less than 45 linear inches but not acceptable because its length is greater than 22" and its width is greater than 9".
  5. You need to look at the limitations for combined dimensions and individual dimensions. 6rugrats highlighted the restriction for an individual carry-on bag.
  6. I believe the discussion is centred around making connections when arriving in Toronto. It appears as though you simply arrived and went home from the airport.
  7. Probably better to walk to the airport and avoid the possibility that the meter has been tampered with.
  8. Yes. When they say one device, what's really meant is that you can only have one session open at a time on your internet account.
  9. Just get a taxi. They're readily available, quick and as economical as you're going to get.
  10. Travel insurance is pretty much all I can think of; trying to anticipate all the potential issues and what I might do about them is a mug's game. I'm not elderly, infirm or have health issues that I may, reasonably, have to deal with. People in those situations have to carefully co sider their travel plans prior to starting... an ounce of prevention. Joining a medical evacuation plan is one thing that comes to mind.
  11. Timmins and Thunder Bay, for sure. I view Cobourg as a GTA suburb. Pretty much anything as far as Belleville is in that gravitational field.
  12. Did you mean to say that your ship will be docking in Bayonne, NJ in January?
  13. When I read this, I thought the OP was talking about her husband's bad medical experience and how disconcerting it was to her thinking about the possibilities of having serious medical issues while on a cruise. I didn't interpret the comments as a criticism of the onbaord medical service(s) and their insistence that her husband be attended to at a hospital.
  14. I'd go 100% on the tides; the business of the 'hogher ups' dictating the use of a 'bad gangway' is a little speculative on the part of skeeter195 though.
  15. The inflation rate in the United States remains stubbornly high. Likely, the Fed will continue to raise interest rates. CCL has far too much debt and rising interest rates will be a real challenge for them to sevice the debt load and return to profitability. Coupled with a difficult cold and flu season ahead, expect bookings to suffer.
  16. Any of your contemplated options are permissible.
  17. Gee, I wish you hadn't quoted me and insinuated that I have some expectation that a cruise ship should deliver me to BH (or darn near anywhere else) for sight-seeing. I was responding to a previous comment about going to Portland because it has suitable dock space and is a much larger city to absorb lots of cruise ship passenger traffic. That's all true, but won't help anybody with a desire to see BH and, I agree with you, if a person wants to go badly enough (BH or any other wonderful spots in Maine), they should make a specific and separate land-based trip.
  18. Stratified packing. Open up the luggage and start working your way down on a daily basis... no need to unpack that suitcase.
  19. That's going to be an iffy calculation even if you can determine the original length of the gangway. You probably don't know how long after the collapse the photo was taken so estimating how much the tide has risen or fallen is going to be difficult to ascertain ie... where the entry port on the side of the ship was located with respect to the dockside.
  20. Don't you think that's after the gangway collapsed?
  21. I know what you're saying but if a cruise passenger wants to go to Bar Harbor, docking in Portland won't be particularly satisfying... may as well head off to Saint John and spend more time there.
  22. Really, it's only 7 hours when you're moving from Japan towards Vancouver and then, presto, set the date back a day.
  23. Well, they don't change the time, they change the date. If you cross at 2:00 am on the 25th, it'll soon be 2:01 am on the 24th.
