Carnival Celebration Crowd Questions
Hoosierpop replied to hawkinsh's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
It’s hard to know what level of crowd will cause her anxiety but I’ve been on the Celebration several times now (on it as a write this) and for as big as the ship is, I feel less crowded than smaller ships. I think that’s mainly because there are a lot of areas on the ship instead of everyone funneled to the same area. Avoid the main lido and take the forward or aft elevators as much as possible. On the first day, I suggest going to the far back of the ship. Deck 8 at the Pig and Anchor area for example. But the first day always seems crowded until cabins are open at 1:30. I can’t help much with the mobility issue other than there are a lot of scooters I see. People don’t seem to complain much other than elevator slowness. -
Yes. My PvP botched a casino offer and it took a lot of effort to fix it. It was at that exact moment I realized I don’t need a PvP so I don’t use one. That mess up would have cost me more than any benefit she ever provided.

Carnival Your Time Dining vs. traditional Set Time Dining
Hoosierpop replied to PirateAt45's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Maybe with a group your size, set time. But I personally like your time dining for the flexibility and it’s not really close. I’ve never found we have to wait a long time. But there have been plenty of times a set time got in the way of other things we wanted to do. -
Dress the same as you would with early or late set time dining.

If someone is a no show in a 2 person cabin (not the primary person with the cruise rate), does Carnival automatically refund the taxes and port fees or does the person need to do something to get the refund?
-
I have the drink package. I don't need to go to the Diamond party. Better things to do on a cruise. If people are that upset by the large crowds, I got nothin.

5 cocktails and 3 sodas, you’ve paid for it. More than that, and it’s bonus.

Shiprocked Cruise (Magic) collided with the pier in Ocho Rios

I’m pretty sure the internet always has accurate info. Here’s a picture of the Magic last night. Seems OK to me.- 134 replies

Queue the post complaining about the hassle of getting back from Aruba after getting off a cruise ship.

On most cruises I’ve been on, someone has organized a bar crawl. They can be a lot of fun. It’s a good way to meet people on the cruise and worst case, it’s not your thing and you can stop the crawling anytime.

Hey, is there a way I can avoid the long line of people at guest services who are removing their tips because they want to tip more than the standard gratuity and not at all because they want to save money? Also, I don’t know what Carnival does with the auto gratuities. I mean, I don’t know what really happens to the tips I hand out. But rest assured, it’s a lot more than the standard gratuities. Believe me.

Bahamas Since the Travel Warning From the State Department.
Hoosierpop replied to franncos's topic in Bahamas
Nassau was a stay on the ship port before so it really is now. Maybe walk around the port area with the new changes. -
We had that once. But we didn’t select it on other Celebration cruises since we didn’t board until 10:45. Sitting around waiting is not my idea of fun
-
Maybe. Unless I’m sick enough to go to the doctor, I wouldn’t even know I had Covid. Just another virus at this point.

I agree with this. We have gone on many spring break cruises and I don’t think the crowds are than other cruises. Of course, the worst behavior I’ve seen on cruises is from adults, so I don’t really worry about kids.
-
Yeah, pig and anchor is great food, good atmosphere. I think the ribs and something else is extra but I never get that.
-
My answer was assuming they meant bought at a port once sailing started. Agree on embarkation that you just take them to the cabin.
-
Lucky you. Security at whatever port you bought the alcohol was napping on the job.
-
On our last two B2Bs, it was on the last day of the second cruise.
-
If it’s the one for anywhere on the ship, it’s basically the same as cheers. So yeah, dining room, coffee, etc. Not sure what places it doesn’t apply to on the first day other than Texas. You can use it in Florida for sure.

Brand new to Carnival - help me please
Hoosierpop replied to colesc15's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
We have been on Mardi Gras Havana as well as the Horizon. It’s true the Havana is better on the Horizon (or Vista class ships) but we liked having an area to lay out and easy bar access on the MG without having to worry it’s too crowded. For the same price, we would go Havana every time over an ocean view room. Not close for us. And I get it’s all subjective. We just spend almost no time in our cabin. -
Celebration! / Live! / Solo? Jan-14-21-2024 The Tribe Cruise!
Hoosierpop replied to sid_9169's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
@sid_9169 love your commentary. And shirts. Great stuff. I’ll be on the May Horizon cruise you’re on. I’m not a huge Alchemy guy but if I’m there and it gets busy, I’ll save my seat for you. I can’t lose money at the crap table sitting at the alchemy bar…..we live in Gainesville, GA and you picked a great time for this cruise. Safe travels -
There won’t be. Just wondering if they will spilt us up into 2 tables or 4 type of thing.
-
Hey All, We have 16 going on the Horizon this May. 6:00 dining was booked so we all have YTD. We will waitlist for 6:00 and check with the Matre D when we board, but I wanted to see if anyone had experience with a large group with YTD. I know we won’t be able to sit at a single table, but do they split us up into tables of 4? And does a large group take a long time to sit? We will check in as soon as possible (5:30 or whatever it is). Basically, I’m looking for opinions on how hard I should try and get us 6:00 set time vs sticking with YTD.

Mardi Gras..... How long from the front to the back?
Hoosierpop replied to Drrandall's topic in Carnival Cruise Lines
Well, I suppose it depends on any mobility issues. If you have none, it’s a short walk to me. Couple of minutes maybe?
