bazzaw Posted May 18, 2013 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2013 Marion "Eight sea days is a lot of sea days at the start of the cruise." We had similar on Oriana to UK (6 weeks) cruise with stops at Whitsundays and Cairns only before first Asian port (Manilla) . At the time we thought that , if we ever did it again, we might seek to be able to board somewhere in Asia rather than Sydney. But, then again, to do so would mean that you would not be able to say to yourself "we have been on a "World Cruise" :) . This latter was/is somewhat important to me :) We are interested in future long cruises - but I have to say that after our own somewhat "unique" WC with P&O - 84 days , two ships with 3 weeks Xmas in the UK in between, I don't think I would do a 106 day 1 ship voyage. There are obviously different attitudes to this -- but for me, after 6 weeks on one ship, I had fairly well exhausted all possibilities on that ship and ready to move on to something else. Barry Bon Voyage to everyone on this World Cruise adventure. I know many people dream of a world cruise and lots enjoy their world cruises, but I know I wouldn't like it. I liked your idea of taking a Christmas break in the UK between your two halves of a world cruise. I took approx. 9 months between my two halves of a world cruise and I loved that. There is nothing better than cruising somewhere for a holiday, then being able to cruise home to your home State (with 10 ports in my case). Passengers on my TA with five sea days got cranky on the 5th day, and the entertainment people said that was normal behavior, for some, after so long with no port of call. 8 days would be really pushing the envelope, so I'd be interested in hearing how passengers on this world cruise go. NSWP Posted May 19, 2013 #9 Share Posted May 19, 2013 Yes Bon Voyage to all and to my golfing friend Phil W on board. Yes, the full Worldie a little much for us, 49 days last year Sydney to Southampton, was quite enough thank you. Yes, unusual to have 8 sea days at the start of the Sea Princess cruise, that will test some pax out. On Arcadia last year we had 9 sea days across the Indian Ocean, Langkawi to Mauritius in one hit, due to pirate activity near the Seychelles. Suffice to say, a few on board got a little stroppy. But saying that most on board were veteran Pom cruisers and copped it. It was the Aussies on board who got a little stroppy.

Gaznjo Posted May 20, 2013 #14 Share Posted May 20, 2013 just got home from White Bay.... Picked up my friends from Darling harbour and drove them out to white Bay ( at 1.30 took about 5 minutes ) .... parking way too easy ....sat and had a coffee at the nice coffee shop in the terminal.... nicer than the big tent ... only cause of all the natural light through the full length glass walls and you can see the ship!! Only there was no Banners or band for the world cruise like there has been on previous cruises.... Best part was saying to my friends ..." see you in Venice "

icat2000 Posted May 21, 2013 #19 Share Posted May 21, 2013 I just booked the leg from Auckland to Sydney. No cabin assignment. But just took the cheapest cabin. Air New Zealand had cheap flights from Melbourne to NZ and then I used airports to pay for my flight from Sydney to Melbourne on Qantas. Too easy.
