DonnaK Posted July 15, 2018 Author #76 Share Posted July 15, 2018 I loved Dru on Anthem (sailed with him three times). I thought he was highly effective, and he hosted challenging trivia events (Seinfeld, Friends, Sports, etc) with a lot of humor. He was excellent when introducing the nightly shows, arranged for an impromptu concert in the Music Hall for the headliner act (Mo5iac) and for an event in the Schooner Bar with the RCI show performers. There was also a spontaneous event where he invited talented young passengers to sing with the piano player and the performers in Schooner. We liked his low-key personality and dry sense of humor, and enjoyed his morning TV show . Perhaps you are right about the CD on Oasis class. My sister just returned from Allure this morning, and said that Jimmy Rhodes was invisible - it was like there was no CD at all and only members of the activity team at each event. RCCLNYMETS41 Posted July 15, 2018 #77 Share Posted July 15, 2018 Very happy to hear a much more positive experience you had with Dru. Like I said, he was extremely friendly & it does sound like he might have been off his game for my particular week.
Alter Ego Posted July 15, 2018 #78 Share Posted July 15, 2018 I’m also a big fan of Dru’s from Anthem. Surprised he got a mediocre review! Was he there at Quest and Love & Marriage? Like it was said, possible the issue is the class of ship - there’s just so much going on around the ship at any one given time.
ncb106 Posted July 15, 2018 #79 Share Posted July 15, 2018 I had Dru on last cruise on anthem he ok just his morning show where kind of boring for but other then that he a good CD Sent from my Z982 using Forums mobile app
RCCLNYMETS41 Posted July 15, 2018 #80 Share Posted July 15, 2018 Yes he was Quest & L & M gameshow. Other than that, for example he showed up at the end of a street parade, at the end of aqua show & at the end of headliner, all as crowd was already up & exiting so he did not grab the crowds attention in any way. All he did was say "give it up for..." & then rambled about ship events. I am glad to hear other good reviews from other people about him.
mets123 Posted July 16, 2018 #81 Share Posted July 16, 2018 I had Dry on the Anthem 4 times and thought he was great. Maybe the Oasis class is a different kind of animal?

Rare BillOh Posted July 16, 2018 #84 Share Posted July 16, 2018 ENCHANTMENT: Bobby Broughton April 6 until early-September. (date? then who?) I'm boarding on 9/17. I just got this email. Thank you for your email. We apologize for the delay in our response and appreciate your patience. Unfortunately, we are unable to advise who the Cruise Director will be prior to your cruise. We kindly ask that you inquire onboard the ship. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause. I guess, if there is no update, I'll post one from the Windjammer once on-board. BCCarty85 Posted July 16, 2018 #85 Share Posted July 16, 2018 Just returned from Harmony-WOW, what a great cruise! One aspect that we did not care for was our CD. In OUR OPINION & from our experiences on our past 12 Royal Caribbean cruises, although it did not detract from the cruise, Dru Pavlov (cruise director) was not very good or maybe not suited for an Oasis class ship. For my family, the CD has always been the face of the entire entertainment & activities on the ship. While he was very friendly & posed for a couple of pictures, Dru seemed like he was rarely around at big events. He would usually show up at the end as crowds were already exiting a show or event & no one paid attention to what he was saying. He was more of just an MC at some events. He is the first CD we have had who did nothing to add to the entertainment factor. I understand that the Oasis class of ships is a different beast, but we have been on the Allure with Allan Brooks in the past, and he was all over the ship at every main event & added to the entertainment factor himself. Once again, Dru was very friendly, but maybe just not my family's cup of tea as a CD. Anyone have a better experience with Dru? Maybe he was just off his game this particular week. Once again, he seemed like a very friendly person. I had Dru as CD on Liberty, Allure (President’s Cruise in 2016 — you can’t get any more high octane than that), and Anthem. He is one of my favorites and on each cruise he was visible EVERYWHERE. He is more of a “host” type CD as opposed to one who becomes the center of attention (and I have favorites who are in this category as well). On Allure he developed a bad case of laryngitis but still maintained visibility and introduced everything you would expect despite having next to no voice. I have a feeling something else was going on during your sailing if he was not as visible as other CD’s you have had. Blue Eyed Belfast Belle Posted July 18, 2018 #87 Share Posted July 18, 2018 Thanks to all for the warm welcome back to the management of this thread! I just booked an end of summer cruise on Allure, and I am excited to have a new-to-us cruise director, Mitch, on that sailing! Any feedback on him? Welcome back Donna...glad to have you back at the helm. Unfortunately I too stopped reading the previous thread when it looked like posts were being deleted. But I am all caught up on the 5 pages that I missed. “I just booked an end of summer cruise on Allure, and I am excited to have a new-to-us cruise director, Mitch, on that sailing! Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk I too am sailing on Allure for the 1st time at the end of September and am interested in how Mitch is. My last 3 cruises I have sailed with Abe Hughes and loved him so it will be interesting to see how Mitch compares.

Unfortunately I too stopped reading the previous thread when it looked like posts were being deleted. But I am all caught up on the 5 pages that I missed. Thank you! I would like to keep this thread as positive as possible. No bashing.
