Difference between a deluxe balcony room and "superior" balcony room?

Recommended Posts

what's the difference? Obviously it's probably a little bigger but how much bigger? and are there any differences? I've never had a balcony cabin on RCI. just inside and ocean view. and have had a balcony once on carnival so just wondering what the difference was. Thanks.

On Radiance Class ships, it's about a 20 sq. ft. difference.

On Voyager Class, it's between 20 and 25 sq.ft...depending on the ship.

On Fredoom class, it's about 12 sq. ft

The cruise brochure has the deck plans a sq. ft. of all catagories of cabins. RCI will send you one at no cost.

On the Radiance class it's really only the difference between having a loveseat vs full sofa in the cabin - that's about the size difference.

When you do a B2B in the same cabin 5 sq feet can mean the difference

between another anniversary or a new divorce action.

I was going to post the same answer.....IMHO for us it does make a huge difference to have the sofa vs love seat.....the love seat is really just comfortable enough for one person...regardless of size!

Its also just a bit wider making the walk room between the sofa and the desk easier. Otherwise you are constantly bumping into each other.

During our 17 day Panama Cruise on the older Sun Princess, by week two, in a balcony cabin on the Caribe, it was a good thing neither one of us was in that room long, toward the end, that room was getting smaller. :D. We are not big people, but we couldn't pass by the end of the bed at the sametime. It was listed as a 179 sq ft incl balcony.

I disagree with that. Here is the description from RCL's site showing D1 (same as D2) and E1/2/3 on the Brilliance of the Seas. That may be an accurate distinction between a D1 and D2 as I think the D1 can sleep 4 while the D2 sleeps only 2.

Please note: Staterooms 9252 & 9652 have obstructed views. s.gif

It's actually more than that. If you have a room with a sleeper sofa, the larger room will give you enough room at the foot of the bed to get by. On the smaller balcony room, which we had (E), it was nearly impossible to get by the bed as it butted up against the chair at the desk/vanity area.

It's enough difference to turn the beds against the wall, if you have separate beds. Couldn't do that in an E category. Pic of D category, 9660 on Serenade after we rearranged the beds. 1421814126197.jpg.de6d3ff1755d63af6f12005be6d46c2a.jpg

Makes a big difference and more liveable layout IMO.
