cs Posted March 29, 2010 #1 Share Posted March 29, 2010 If most things were identical (price, location, dates), which would you rather do? An older ship, still in good condition, with a brand new itinerary. A Brand new ship with an itinerary that you like but have done a few times before? fourkittys Posted March 29, 2010 #2 Share Posted March 29, 2010 It would be the new ship for me. The ships are my main attraction and would try out all of them if I could afford it. Will be going on our fourth cruise in Nov. and all on different ships. Destinations are fun but second on my deci:D:Dsions.

Rare BecciBoo Posted March 29, 2010 #4 Share Posted March 29, 2010 I guess the results says it all. I still want to do Oasis class and Solstice class along with Radiance which we have never done, but I want some new stops more than that. I'd love some of the other islands in Eastern Caribbean such as Nevis, St. Kitts, Brittish Virgins, Grenada, etc. Along with a run up the California coast, San Diego, L.A., San Fran. and all the way up to Oregon and Seattle, with Wine country side excursions etc.:D
jst4fun715 Posted March 29, 2010 #5 Share Posted March 29, 2010 I would love some newer itineraries. I know they have some for Asia, Middle East, etc, but those are cost prohibitive for us. Would like to see some others in the Caribbean and also bring back the Panama Canal partial transit.
kirbmeister Posted March 29, 2010 #6 Share Posted March 29, 2010 All my cruises have been on the older smaller ships, maybe I should try one of the bigger newer ones.
DHADEN Posted March 29, 2010 #7 Share Posted March 29, 2010 If most things were identical (price, location, dates), which would you rather do? An older ship, still in good condition, with a brand new itinerary. A Brand new ship with an itinerary that you like but have done a few times before? To me that's kind of like asking, "Is it furthar to Chicago, or by bus?" It depends on WHICH ship - not whether it is old or new. There are some we Love (new and old) and some we don't like (mostly new megaships) And it would depend on WHICH itenerary - not old or new. tip Posted March 29, 2010 #9 Share Posted March 29, 2010 Itinerary wins every time for me. Same here. I cruise not for the new bells and whistles, but to relax and explore new places. Until we retire, we must also work around vacation schedules.
skiiergirl Posted March 29, 2010 #10 Share Posted March 29, 2010 I vote for "other"----New ship (love Oasis!) and new itinerary (do not like OA routes). (I know OA is limited by the piers in many ports....but there are some others that could handle it!)
debshomespun Posted March 29, 2010 #11 Share Posted March 29, 2010 I would prefer some new itineraries! We have been to most of the islands in the Caribbean. Still a few we haven't been to. Some of the smaller ones, and the ones most of the ships don't stop at!
bluegirlum Posted March 29, 2010 #12 Share Posted March 29, 2010 We usually don't do very much in port--if we're going to really experience some place, we'll spend longer than a day there. Therefore, I'd rather have a ship that has a lot of "stuff" on it. I loved Liberty, but didn't love the ports of call. Normally I don't like sea days, but they were great on Liberty. mrpayroll Posted March 29, 2010 #15 Share Posted March 29, 2010 Since you spend so much time on ship, that is the biggest factor for us.. new...
Cruzaholic41 Posted March 29, 2010 #16 Share Posted March 29, 2010 Another "New" vote. At this point, most of my cruises are more centered on being on certain ships, rather than the destination.
wraithe Posted March 29, 2010 #17 Share Posted March 29, 2010 Unfortunately, the OP left out the "don't care" option. We pick when we can go, how long can we be gone, then pick a ship that's going to be gone that long, it it happens to stop somewhere, great, may or may not get off the ship, if it doesn't stop anywhere, darn. We sailed Grandeur last November for 14 nights (repo). The only two places we got off the ship were Curacao and Aruba.
lovelife Posted March 29, 2010 #18 Share Posted March 29, 2010 I'd love to visit some new ports (including Turks and Caicos and St. Kitts), but I want to sail on all the RCCL ships! Yes, I want it all.
windjammerB&C Posted March 29, 2010 #19 Share Posted March 29, 2010 Newer ships for us :)
lovemylab Posted March 29, 2010 #20 Share Posted March 29, 2010 I would take an older ship on a brand new itinerary. First, I love visiting new ports. Second, the newer (larger) ships don't have much appeal to me. So for me, it would be a win-win. Personally, I'd love to see RCCL offer some 10 day sailings. critterchick Posted March 30, 2010 #21 Share Posted March 30, 2010 I'd rather go on a "small" (if 2600 passengers is small) ship, so I checked older, since the new ships are all beasts. But the itinerary is more important to me than the ship.
