TenerifeSharon Posted August 13, 2010 #26 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Maybe everyone else has already figured this out, but my "take" on these exciting deals is that it has nothing to do with Galaxy. The shaded column to the right of each "exciting Deal" is simply the second passenger price of the column to the left of the shaded one. That does work out to the "50% off for the second passenger" offer at the top of each page. if you look at the 3rd page of offerings, there is nothing mentioned about Galaxy or a different date than the one posted on the "white" columns. Make sense?
Andy Posted August 13, 2010 #27 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Hi Everyone ! The Columns to the right of each sailing, on Pages 1 & 2 (which start with GL) have incorrect data in the fields. Basically, the 2nd Column is a continuation of the column to the left, though the Ship - GL (Galaxy) - nice to see her back :), itinerary, embark port, and sail date are incorrect in the 2nd Column. The pricing for the 2nd person in Column #2 appears to be correct. If you look at Page 3, it appears to be accurate. I think they tried to do too much here. They should have listed the 2nd Guests pricing in the Main Column, and there would be no need for the 2nd Column at all. Hopefully, Celebrity will offer an update, to avoid any confusion. Thanks, Host Andy! You explained exactly what I wrote above -- but you did it more clearly and concisely! Happy Cruiser 6143 Posted August 13, 2010 #29 Share Posted August 13, 2010 The Panama Canal cruise is a very good deal. If I hadn't just been through the canal in January and didn't have two more cruises booked, I might have to jump on that. This is the first time I've seen second person for half price deals. Also note that they've extended the window for booking.
elena7seas Posted August 13, 2010 #30 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Hi Arno: It seems that X has fixed the problem. Andy Posted August 13, 2010 #31 Share Posted August 13, 2010 Hi Everyone ! As Elena mentioned, there is a new version online now. I agree they may have posted a draft version yesterday. The new layout is far better now.

(I think someone posted their "working copy" of the Xciting Deals in error.) http://www.creative.rccl.com/Sales/exciting_deals/XcitingDeals_cel_tues.pdf I notified someone who monitors things that there was a bit of an error. This is one big file to download.. over 24 MB... and now 5 pages long. My computer started updating yesterday just as I was ready to post the third page. My cable company is going to love my download traffic for this month. I'll try and update my pictures shortly.
Mr. Luckytoo Posted August 13, 2010 #33 Share Posted August 13, 2010 I really haven't paid any attention to the Tuesday Sales until the past month. I've seen some good prices for last minute purchases and it has me wondering. I'm sailing on the Millenium in October and I was planning on booking a future =X= cruise for 2011 in order to get my Elite discount and OBC. However seeing these Tuesday specials I wonder... Are these Tuesday specials ongoing? Does it make sense to just wait until the last minute 30 days or less, before booking a cruise? If you book with =X= on the Tuesday deals do you still get the Elite discount and OBC?

Some Tuesday deals are great but you can't depend on them for a sailing you really want to be on. There is no such thing as an Elite discount and you can get an OBC from a TA but not from Celebrit. Perhaps someone has been fortunate to book a Tuesday special while on board to get an OBC or been able to use a "Passages" OBC for an Exciting deal. I look upon these deals as another tool to go cruising at a great deal.

TommyD3 Posted August 14, 2010 #37 Share Posted August 14, 2010 I am sailing on the Solstice on 8/15 which I booked during a Tuesday special. I was able to get the stockholder OBC (identical to onboard booking and passages OBC except for 14 day+) for this cruise. Just email RCL stockholder relations with the details of the cruise. rothjer Posted August 21, 2010 #43 Share Posted August 21, 2010 We booked with last weeks eXciting deals for 10/24 out of Bayonne. I noticed that by and large, the deals they gave us were quite similar to what people could have paid IF they qualifies for the senior or resident rate- for the cruise were interested in at least! I guess it depends on you as to how "hot" the deal is. We found it to be great considering we are on the sailing after so it will make it a B2B for us, and we did not qualify for the senior or resident rate so it was super for us- sometimes I look at the resident/senior rate and wish we could get it for that price, so this time we did ! Rare May B Posted August 21, 2010 #44 Share Posted August 21, 2010 Janet, how do you find out how many cabins are still remaining to be sold on a particular sailing? Arno, thank you so much as always for keeping us informed about Celebrity's goings-on. ;) --May

Janet987 Posted August 21, 2010 #46 Share Posted August 21, 2010 May, You can check a number of on-line cruise specialist websites and go through the menus as though you were booking a certain class. The big-name all-travel sites only show up to 7 cabins per category, while some of the cruise specialist sites will show up to 15 per category. If there are 15 I assume there are even more available, and then check a European based cruise specialist that seems to show all available by class. Have often seen many more than 15 and assume that is the inventory for that class. However, if you want a particular cabin, then check the X website and put in the exact cabin number. This thread may help you: http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1006480 Caveat: I do not know how on-line cabin inventory systems take account of guaranty bookings. If the entire ship has 200 cabins left but 100 inside guaranties have been sold, that may not be indicated until close to sailing. Another CC’er may have insight on how that works. One sailing I was watching had a guaranty rate for most every level and although there seemed to be many cabins left..it was not offered on “EXciting deals”. We have booked guarantee cabins several times and Celebrity has always assigned us an actual cabin within a day or two. They really work out well since we always book two cabins and have always received adjoining cabins - even with the guarantee rate.
GrannyMouse Posted August 24, 2010 #48 Share Posted August 24, 2010 How far out do the Tuesday specials usually go? I'm waiting for a good deal of Solstice for November 21. There seems to be quite a bit of availability for this cruise so I've been waiting for a good price drop. Final payment is due on September 7. If there is still ample availability how much after final payment should the prices start to fluctuate?
