C&A Called! Free Upgrade fm JS to OS

Recommended Posts

Hubby would love to visit the bridge. I was disappointed when RCI discontinued (limited?) bridge tours after 9/11. So this would be great!

We did a galley tour once on Monarch. Wow. Would love to go to another one to compare/contrast. Imagine my next comparison when, someday hopefully, on the Allure galley tour!!

We were in a GS on EOS this past March and got a bridge tour. It was wonderful. My DH is a US Navy Captain so he really enjoyed it. We've done several galley tours as both Princess and Carnival give them.

Wow, they serve you dinner on your balcony? What a super idea! And a great way to have a special setting without having to get all dressed up! We will definitely do this on a formal night, both formal nights if we really like it (or it rains!).

So who brings the food? A waiter or the room attendant? If the waiter, have you ever needed anything again after they left and if so, what do you do? Is everything brought out at once or in courses? And if you order wine it is brought to your room?? This would be fabulous! Did you do this on the Vision class ships - wondering if the Grandeur may not have all these services????

Actually, you have a dining area in your suite. We have never dined on our balcony.......but nothing is impossible. Your table would have to be moved to the balcony for you to enjoy dining there.........and there would only be room for the two of you.

Room service will set up your dining table, and will bring your food to you. If you want someone to serve you......your room service steward will do that as well. Just remember to tip the people that are taking care of you.

There is no butler, but because of the size of the room, your suite attendant will be entitled to a larger tip, than if you were staying in a JS.

Our rule of thumb.......if we are eating in.....whether it's just the two of us, or having another couple joining us.........we give the server a $20.00 tip.....minimum.

We have had several room service waiters take total care of us, making sure that the wine glasses are always filled, and delivering, in courses, appitizers....then on to a salad....and then the main course (off of the MDR menu)......and finally desert.

We have treated quite a few of our cruising friends "in for dinner"....and having an intimate dinner for 4..........our friends have never forgotten...as for many it's a once in a lifetime experience. This is speaking about Royal Caribbean.........not Crystal cruises.....where this can and will happen every night.

So, go ahead and spoil yourself........because you only have this one cruise.....right now....to experience that.

As a quick after note.........how did you get from my posts......the you could have dinner served on your balcony??

I never said anything of the kind.......and was wondering where you picked up on that.

We have never been offered that.

Good sailing.........and I hope your cruise turns out just perfectly for you.;)

I apologize.......I overlooked your question about wine.

The ship has a total list of wines available to you. Order what you want for you dinner........and it will be served to you at you dining table......in your suite.

You can also order "night caps" to be delivered with desert...or after, and room service will take care of everything.

Two things to remember........ask for a table cloth on day one, just to keep in your closet......and then when you want breakfast......or dinner, the table cloth is ready for your use.:)

Check the Diamond Promo thread. I posted a picture of us. Do you remember us?

Rick, did you ask the server to bring it in courses? Wondering how to make such a request where the same server does an entire meal service for us in 2-3 deliveries, instead of all at once.

Dave......If you are staying in a suite........you can request that room service serve you in courses............and they actually will assign someone to your cabin, to see that everything is coming together as planned.

We usually have someone assigned to us.....that will take care of everything from pouring our wine.......to getting us our food....in a schedule that we have asked for.

On our upcoming trip on the Mariner......we have the RS......and although the service has been excellent on every trip where we have a GS or an OS....I'm told that we will have someone dedicated for us.

I can give feedback after our cruise. We normally have RS's on the Monarch or Majesty, and so this will be our first on a Voyager Class.

Rick

I hope soon! We have two cruises (back to back) on the Navigator in December (9th - 18th). Also, we have a 12-night cruisetour aboard the Radiance in July 2011 booked. Land tour starts July 24th and Southbound to Vancouver cruise July 29th - Aug. 5th, 2011.

Our cabin attendant did his best to make the most of it. I can't say that that guest relations did anything. They never called to check on us. They never offered to move us although I know there were some higher cabins available just before sailing. I didn't want to be moved when I thought it was a leaking fridge. When I came back and read that it was possibly sewage, then I got angry.

Here are the stories from the people who stayed in the cabin after us...

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/showthread.php?t=1292139

Yep, say a prayer for that guy from your meetnmingle. I hope they have the cabin fixed.

OMIGOSH! I thought they had offered to move you! Darn right I'd be angry!

Sorry! After reviewing my post, I suppose I just jumped to the conclusion that the dining table would be on the balcony. I previously had looked at the 360 degree video tours of the OS rooms displayed on RCI for the Grandeur - I know they are just general information - and didn't recall seeing a dining area in the room. We often order coffee and fruit for breakfast on the balcony and - oops! - I just followed that train of thought when you mentioned dinner.

The aft balconies can be pretty deep - I can see eating there without the wind blowing things around or cooling food too quickly. But since there is room inside the OS for a table, that would be even better!

When ordering room service such as this - do you have your suite attendant coordinate this with Room Service for you or do you simply call Room Service directly and speak to them/supervisor? How much time do they need to prepare for this? Or, instead, should I request this with C&A now (since you indicated that you have already inquired about this on your upcoming cruise on the Mariner)?

Apologize for so many questions...

No question is too trivial......this is your first experience..............and hopefully.........it will be just as good as we have been treated.

So, I see so many pictures........from Celebrity, Princess.......and other lines, showing a couple on their balcony for breakfast........I'm sure that it's a possibility......we have just never experienced it.

Not to say that it can not be done........I think that it can. For a two top table.

You have a dining table in your suite....by the bar and TV area.....and you should have 4 chairs.

Call room service........or your cabin attendant....and let them know if you are planning dinner in. They will make sure that you have the evenings MDR dinner menu in your folder.

Order off of that........of if you have a special request......like escargot......just let them know enough in advance, that they can make it for you.

Treat your service attendants....as family......and they will be more than butlers for you.

On the Spring Break Cruise...we had the RFS and entire meals we ordered were delivered at the same time...guess on Voyager if it comes together we will just have to make that the request.

Evening Dave,

They will bring your dinner........in any suite.......on a Schedule if you ask for it.

I have noticed, of late, the the RFS is being renamed.......and it may not be a suite anymore.

Keep your eyes open for this. RCCL has remaned it to a TS........and I'm kinda thinging that the "S" stands for suite.

Let me know what the "T" stands for!!???

The ROYAL SUITE???? Darn, I picked the wrong time to cruise with you!!!:D

I would definitely be ringing your doorbell for a picture of the phone in the bathroom (is there one in there?)........just because I have never seen the RS on Mariner.....:(:D

Well.......you had an invite.......for our cabin above yours.....on our last cruise.

But you were busy celebrating, as we were. I know that you clicked a few picks upard as we were toasting you two..........did any of the come clean...that you want to share.

If so........I think you have my private email!!

We will cruise again.

Oh, yes.....there are telephones in both of the bathrooms!

I don't think I do have your email. But it is a cute picture and I will send it if you want.

I tried to get some of you and Bobbie when you were being honored for your 100th cruise. But after the photogs got done snapping, everybody moved.

I wanted to yell for everyone to "stand still a moment" but I didn't think it would have been appropriate....:D

Anyway, yes, we will cruise again....and again........as long as I have breath and a paycheck, I will cruise....and I am sure you will be on at least one of them.....

I am sorry now that I didn't hound you for a picture of the phone........;)

I just didn't want to intrude on your celebrations....even though I know you said it would be OK.

Well, we may not have a concierge on the Grandeur, but we do have a Suite Guest Specialist. ;) Here is part of the email he sent:

"My name is Mauricio Mamby and I am the Suite Guest Specialist onboard the Grandeur of the Seas. We are honored that you have selected Royal Caribbean International for your cruise vacation experience.

As our elite VIP Guests you are entitled to services not readily available to our other guests onboard the Grandeur of the Seas. My team and I are available to assist you with any special needs and requests that you may have such as Spa treatments and/or Excursion priority bookings. If you have any Dining requests, we can certainly forward these on for consideration to our Maitre d'."

I responded with a request as to whether they could provide our first formal night dinner on a table in our room, served in courses as suggested by Rick. I just love this idea and hope they can accommodate this, as the table in Meriom Mom's pictures looked pretty small....:)

WOW Congrats on your upgrade. We just booked our first AFT cabin for our upcoming February cruise on the Voyager. I wonder if the upgrade fairy will pay us a visit too. I wouldn't mind giving up my first AFT for a Grand Suite or higher. We had a GS for my sister's 60th birthday and love it. And we are lucky enough to get another GS for our Galveston's Mariner cruise but I can still wish for a GS for our next voyage on the Voyager.

Rick - It looks like TS stands for "Two Bedroom Suite"
